The Highlands is an area in Louisville, Kentucky which contains a high density of nightclubs, eclectic businesses, and many upscale and fast food restaurants. It is centered along a three-mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue (US 31E/US 150) and is so named because it sits atop a ridge between the middle and south forks of Beargrass Creek. Due to its large collection of night clubs and restaurants, it is locally known as "Restaurant Row." The Highlands was the last area near downtown Louisville to be urbanized, since its steep 60 foot incline above the flood plain made travel difficult, and the area showed no signs of urban development until just before the Civil War. Several notable families did own plantations in what is now called the Highlands, spurred by the Louisville and Bardstown Turnpike (today's Bardstown Road). The turnpike was first planned as early as 1784, but authorization to begin construction was delayed until 1819, and thwarted then by the Panic of 1819. Funds were finally allocated in 1829, with construction beginning in 1832.
  • We had a wonderful time on our trip to Louisville. The apartment was easy to find, clean, and we always found a parking spot along the road. The location was our favorite part - walking distance to cafes, restaurants, and a couple bookstores (a must on our trips)! Would absolutely recommend.

  • Sarah's place was great! Everything was exactly as pictured. The space is beautiful and very clean. The king bed is incredibly comfortable. The claw foot tub and outdoor space are great touches.

    Alexandra2017-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • What a wonderful apartment! We loved the amenities and location. The washer and dryer were a bonus, as were the bikes. Sarah and Ben delivered a pack and play to us in pouring rain and checked in via text often to make sure we were doing okay- perfect hosts! We will definitely stay here again next time we visit Louisville and highly recommend this location for anyone interested in a comfortable, quiet apartment in the heart of the action.

  • we had a great couple days to celebrate our honeymoon. the apartment was quiet, clean, and centrally located. we would highly recommend it for a trip to Louisville and we're already thinking about coming back!

  • Beautiful home in an even better location. My only regret is not booking another night. The bathroom was beautiful. The bikes were perfect.

    Hannah2016-09-08T00:00:00Z
  • SUCH a cool space, with tons of great shops and restaurants within walking distance. They also had whole bean coffee (with a grinder, of course) that was fantastic!

    Kate2017-12-03T00:00:00Z
  • Good location and super cute space! The deck is fun and getting to use the bikes is such a plus! It is on a busy street so I expected it to be quite noisy but was pleasantly surprised.

    Whitney2018-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Sarah and Ben's place was incredibly clean and wonderfully decorated. We loved the decor and the deck! We didn't get a chance to use the bikes, but it is an awesome addition to the rental. It was an easy check in. It was perfect!

Located right in the heart of Louisville's most popular downtown neighborhoods. This gorgeous, 1100 square ft shotgun style house has been converted from a retail space. A short walk from nationally acclaimed farm to table restaurants, popular bars, local roast coffee shops, galleries and boutiques. You can also walk to several different bourbon distilleries and Slugger Field. Free city circulation buses and pay as you ride bike and scooter stations can get you to slightly further major venues.
The Heart of NuLu is an 1100 square foot home in the traditional 'shotgun' style. This warm, exposed brick space is linear in design. The brick walls provide a cozy continuity to the individual living spaces. Enter into the living room. There is a small kitchenette in the middle of the space and a large, king size bed in the back of the building next to the bathroom. The bathroom features a tile and glass shower with a lovely stone floor. All amenities including furniture are brand new and have been selected with the traveler in mind. This open floor plan may not be ideal for groups that require privacy from each other. Note that due to the layout of the house the furnace vent or the HVAC is located above the bed. This causes air to flow across the sleeping area which may be uncomfortable or annoying for some. If you are a light or sensitive sleeper, you may be bothered by the white noise produced by the HVAC at night. Note that there is NO STOVE. The kitchenette area features a toaster oven and small refrigerator for drinks and snacks. There is a Kureg and a French Press for coffee and an electric kettle for hot water.
The NuLu neighborhood is chock full of amazing places to visit. The house has two large chalk boards in the kitchenette area detailing individual establishments that are absolutely worth a visit within 2 walking blocks in each direction. A long walk or a Uber or LIFT can get you to many other excellent destinations within 5 or 10 minutes.
  • We've stayed in many Airbnb's and although we have always had great experiences, this was one of the best. The location is great! The place looks exactly like the pictures. The bed and sofa bed were comfortable. Parking is always available and that's a plus. Kimberly, the hostess, is a great communicator and extremely thoughtful. She sent us many suggestions for louisville and tips for Derby day. We would stay here again!

    Robert2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • Loved the place ! Very convenient!

    Lauren2018-01-24T00:00:00Z
  • The location could not be better. It is in the center of everything in NuLu. Also, giant chalk boards list all of the restaurants and places to go which is great! The pictures perfectly show how clean and great the space is. A great space for a weekend away. We loved it and we would move to stay here again.

    Matt2017-07-23T00:00:00Z
  • We loved our stay here! The apartment had a lot of character and everything was very clean. It was walking distance to a lot of fun restaurants and shops. Would not hesitate to stay here again or recommend to anyone visiting Louisville!

    Jenna2017-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • I stayed 3 nights in Kim's house in Louisville. The house was clean and very comfortable. She was kind, tried to help us, and kept us in private. We communicate almost everyday through the app, and it kept us feeling in safe. I would definately stay again if I visit the city again.

    진영2017-02-17T00:00:00Z
  • This place has everything! Location, 30 seconds to the best food & drink, yet as it is set back one street, it is nice and quiet in the property itself. Amazing!

    Tim2017-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Great little place. Clean and convenient to restaurants and shops. Kim was great, easy to contact and very accommodating. Loved the chalkboards with local points of interest. Nice extra touch.

    Drew2017-10-30T00:00:00Z
  • Very stylish and unique place with an amazing location! Walking distance to so many great restaurants, bars, and shops in Nulu. The chalkboards with recommendations in the house were a great touch, we tried to get to as many as possible and they did not disappoint. Very clean place and Kimberly was very responsive and hospitable, highly recommend!

  • We enjoyed Harvest House as much as we expected. (The reviews were right on.) Em and Tim are inviting and thoughtful; the house is stylish and clean; the banana bread is delicious. Having a door to the bedroom was perfect for putting our young children to bed before we were ready to call it a night. Book it; you won't be disappointed!

    Emily2014-07-18T00:00:00Z
  • A perfect stay at Em and Tims! Although just passing through, we instantly felt at home in their clean, warm, quiet and relaxing loft apartment with easy walkability to wonderful eateries and shops in their sweet neighborhood. Our best Air BNB experience yet!

    Stephanie2016-06-28T00:00:00Z
  • The loft was a beautiful space, very comfortable and tastefully decorated! The shower was amazing and loved the feature of having the record player to use. We were able to walk to multiple places in the neighborhood, among many of their useful recommendations. I only wish we could have stayed and enjoyed it a bit longer!

    Britt2015-11-20T00:00:00Z
  • Em and Tim have such a beautiful loft space! My girlfriend and I stayed here for a few nights when we were in town for a wedding and I would highly recommend a single or couple visiting Louisville to stay here. While I didn't have an opportunity to spend any time with Em / Tim (beyond a brief chat on the porch) their dining recommendations that were given were superb. The space itself does a lot with very little square footage and it does not feel cramped or crowded. Beautiful tilework in the shower, extremely clean, tastefully decorated and fully stocked with the essentials. The neighborhood is cute with lots of amazing dining, night life, and coffee close by. Parking seemed easy although we relied on Uber to get around, which worked out well. Overall, it's a great cozy spot for a quick getaway!

    Colin2015-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was our third stay in the loft and it was just as perfect as always! We can't wait to come back!

    Margaret2016-03-13T00:00:00Z
  • Em's & Tim's place was great! I only stayed for one short evening, but really enjoyed the accommodations and restaurant recommendations they left for me. It was super easy to walk to several restaurants and bars, and very closely located to the riverfront area downtown. The space they rent has a tremendous amount of character and everything is nicely appointed. It was also a nice extra treat to have some local goodies waiting for me after a long day of traveling. I'd highly recommend their place and would definitely stay again in the future. Thanks so much!

    Matt And Alison2016-03-25T00:00:00Z
  • We definitely felt like we were living like a local in louisville! Love the location in relation to night life and restaurants. The room was cozy and fun! We really appreciated Em and Tim being available on the fly - as we literally made the reservation within an hour of arriving at their space!

    Jenna2016-08-05T00:00:00Z
  • My boyfriend and I had an wonderful experience as house guests. Both Em and Tim were incredibly kind and made our visit to Louisville special. We both agree that we'd stay again with no hesitation.

  • Janice's home is wonderfully comfortable. We were driving through Louisville, so we didn't stay long, but when we arrived Janice met us and was extremely welcoming! It felt like staying with family.

  • Another great trip at Jan's. She is such a gem. Happy to have her help and hospitality!

    Adam2015-03-01T00:00:00Z
  • Janice was a warm character with an awesome accommodation. I was in and out quick for work but will definitely come back for a longer visit. I left quickly in the morning and didn't get the chance to thank her and say goodbye, so sorry! The bed was so comfy I hit snooze a bit much and just made it to my work function on time. Thanks Janice for the nuts, granola bar, and pear! Made a healthy breakfast. And thank you for putting my eyeglasses out when I forgot them in my hurry. Cheers, Michael

    Rebecca2017-09-20T00:00:00Z
  • A great, clean place that feels like home. Jan was a great host who always made it a priority to make me feel welcome. The home is in a nice quiet area away from the hustle of the city, but close enough to easily travel to some of the nicer places in Louisville. I look forward to visiting again in the future!

Enjoy a large, bright bedroom and private bath. Guests have the whole second floor, and several have commented on how spacious the bedroom room is--approx 18 x 18 ft. Air-conditioned, queen bed. Located in close-in St. Matthews, a quiet tree-lined area with easy access to downtown, major tourist attractions and eateries.
Enjoy a bright and spacious air-conditioned second floor all to yourself, with a 18 x 18' room with queen bed and private full bath. The room has its own air cond. thermostat (guest may set temp). There is Wi-Fi and a TV with DVD player (local channels, but no cable). Coffee maker and tea kettle in the room. Tea and coffee provided (filters in drawer below coffee pot). Guests may use my kitchen to prepare breakfast or warm up a pizza. If you don't mind going down to a 1946 (unfinished) basement, you may also use the washer-dryer. There's an iron and board available. There are lots of towels, a small hair dryer and "generic" shampoo in the bathroom. Located in close-in St. Matthews, a quiet tree-lined area 5 easy miles from the heart of the city, a 2-block walk to the bus stop serving downtown. There are several restaurants, coffee shops, and pubs less than a mile away--on walkable sidewalk. Louisville offers many attractions--historic homes such as Locust Grove and Farmington; the Kentucky Derby, Louisville Slugger, Muhammad Ali, and Speed Art Museum; the KY Center for the Arts, and the new YUM! arena. The Big Four Bridge has recently opened as a pedestrian walkway to Indiana. There is a lovely ramp with super views of downtown and the Ohio River esp at sunset. The Shelbyville Road shopping area, boutique-lined Frankfort Avenue, the hip Bardstown Road and NULU districts are a short drive away. Guests often comment on how well situated the house is. Three hospitals are within 2 miles (Baptist East, Norton, and the VA). The Presbyterian and Baptist seminaries are nearby. No smoking. No pets, please. I'm an energetic semi-retired educator. I myself like to travel, so I'm participating in Airbnb in order to supplement my own travel budget. I'm a people-person so I look forward to welcoming visitors. I have had the privilege of hosting great guests from around the world.
Quiet, tree-lined streets. Nice neighbors. Easy access to downtown via city streets, also easy routes to expressways. Guests may park on street during day, but please pull into my driveway overnite.

  • My stay at Harriette's place was perfect! She has a great location that is convenient to both downtown and local restaurants. She was extremely welcoming and I enjoyed spending a couple of days at her place. The room was very large with a comfortable bed and plenty of nice pillows! The bathroom was spotless and right next to the bedroom so that was great as well. I look forward to staying there again on return trips! I thoroughly enjoyed the St Matthews area and it has everything you could possibly need from the gym/ malls/ whole foods/ jimmy johns etc! Everything was extremely nice!

    Taylor2016-02-04T00:00:00Z
  • Harriette was a great host and was able to accommodate our arrival even when she wasn't home. She arrived shortly after we did, and we said a quick hello and settled in for the night. The upstairs was extremely clean, and the room and bathroom are both very large! In the morning, she offered us yogurt and fruit and we were able to chat for a while. We would definitely stay again!

    Annaliese2015-06-12T00:00:00Z
  • Staying with Harriette was absolutely wonderful. Both the room and the bathroom are spacious and private (they're the only rooms on the second floor). Harriette goes above and beyond in making her guests feel comfortable. She has a little station for making either coffee or tea in the room. Her house is in a lovely and quiet neighborhood with easy access to everywhere we wanted to go downtown, at the river, and in the historic part of Louisville. Above all, however, we so enjoyed getting to know Harriette. She was kind and welcoming from the first moment, and we were able to chat with her quite a bit despite only staying at her house for one night. The next morning, she provided us with a delicious breakfast, and we shared stories of our respective travels. Highly recommended!

  • My stay at Amy's was great. She is sweet and is a great host. The room is great, with the private bathroom and shower, that's a plus value. Amy has three cats and unfortunately i could smell the cat litter from the vent in my room. But other than that, i had a great stay.

Efficiency apartment with convenient location on quiet block. It's walking distance from hospital complex. The apartment has just been remodeled and updated. WiFi provided as as well as laundry room access and bicycles free to use for guests.
This apartment is modern style and decorations. There are some original elements kept but mostly everything is new. It's less than 300 sq ft and bathroom is really small with just enough space to turn around and store towels and toiletries. Queen size bed, rudimentary kitchen with 30 inch tall fridge, sink and counter top range.
The immediate neighborhood is not particularly attractive in my opinion but it's centraly located so it takes just a short walk to major attractions like Nulu, Highlands, Ohio riverfront or strict Downtown.
  • A great place to stay for a night on our way from Arkansas to Pennsylvania. Clean room and bathroom, perfectly sized for a couple. Thank you!

    Heather2016-10-25T00:00:00Z
  • As the space was amazing and at the center of everything that Louisville has to offer, me and the owner did have some miscommunication. I requested that he would add an additional day to stay and charge me appropriately, he did not make the adjustment. As I had only budgeted my finances to have spending money for vacation and keep up with my bills, he tried to charge me on my original checkout date. I told him that I couldn't pay that charge immediately and I gave him a day in which I could, he insisted on name calling and told me to vacate the premises within minutes. Again, the room was great but this experience has put a bad taste in my mouth. I have all of our messages saved and even took pictures of the room when as I was leaving to defend myself if he tries to give me a bad review. It's really unfortunate that the issues had come up because I was shocked on how great the room was.

  • A great location to stay in if you’re visiting Louisville. We stopped in for only a night, the location was convenient and close to the Brown Theatre (which we were going to for a concert) as well as various good eats. Greg was very helpful and was very easy to reach.

Come stay in a beautifully renovated traditional shotgun with all the modern day convenience. With just a short walk to bars, restaurants, bakeries, coffee shops, and parks, the location is very ideal. I'm always looking forward to hosting great people--message me to see if we can work out a deal to fit your budget!
The home was built in 1890 but was remodeled very recently. The history of the home is still intact in unique ways, but all fixtures are modern and convenient.
Germantown is fantastic! Walkability to bars and restaurants was a very important thing to us when we bought this home. Location is great.

Germantown is a charming area of Louisville with great character and friendly people, less than 2 miles from downtown. Take a 10-15 minute walk to The Post for some authentic NY style pizza!

  • Josh was a great host! He was there upon arrival and immediately offered to provide us the best places to go for food and drinks on Bardstown Rd. His carriage house was very cute and perfect for 2 people.

    Emily2018-04-01T00:00:00Z
  • The carriage house was very comfortable and neat. There was no issue with parking, but I was warned by several Uber drivers that it is not advised to walk alone at night in the area. I would definitely stay at Josh’s again—such a great value.

  • Excellent carriage house Airbnb! A great value. House was larger than we expected from the pictures and we had plenty of room for me, my husband, and our infant daughter. Would certainly try to stay here again if we come back to Louisville. Thanks Josh!

  • By far the best Airbnb experience I’ve had! It was a great location, about 10 minutes from everything that we wanted to do. Nice, safe neighborhood with easy to find parking. Satellite and WiFi were great additions to have! We got locked out one time and by the time we returned, the problem had been fixed! Comfy bed and very clean place to stay! 10/10 would stay here again!

  • Loved the location and the closeness to everything I needed!

  • We loved the chic decor and amenities of this gen on Bardstown Road. We had the opportunity to walk wherever we wanted to go out at night and were centrally located to all that Louisville had to offer. Sarah was always able to be reached and was an incredibly accommodating hostess. We will definitely be back!

This is a 2nd story apartment with attractive location on quiet block. It's walking distance from hospital complex. The place has been gutted out and updated with new ceiling fans, lights, outlets, flooring etc. 2 closets, twin bed. The space is small but very cozy with higher end floors, glass block/granite counter top, fireplace stainless steel cabinets, ceiling fan etc When renovation we decided to keep original 100 yrs old cast iron bathtub and sink but unfortunately with age there comes some discoloration that proved impossible to remove. Fixtures are clean there are some stains. The house has WiFi, laundry facility, free bicycle rental. In most cases I don't even meet guests as they are able to let themselves in via electronic lock and I only show up if something is needed. The immediate neighborhood is not particularly attractive in my opinion but it's centrally located so it takes just a short walk to major attractions like Nulu, Highlands, Ohio riverfront or strict Downtown. There are two bus lines (21 and 19) in front of the house that will take you to major parts of the city. For detailed maps look up TARC bus system. Downtown, Riverfront, Highlands, Nulu are all within waling distance. I also have free bikes for guests to use. Parking is on public street. It's safe and plentiful except midday during the week but you can always find a spot just not directly in front of the house.

  • Nice place in an Ok area. Close to NULU and even better area the Highlands! The room has everything you need, clean etc. Downtown is a 25 minute walk. Market street Just 10 minutes by feet. Ideal that Greg has some bikes which you can use (lill small though but biking is the easiest way to explore the city plus its surroundings! Would definitely book this place again.

  • I stayed at Greg's for a month because I was doing a rotation at Jewish Hospital. The house is super close to the hospital complex (the parking lots are just next to it) and looks exactly as depicted. The apartment was very functional, cute, near downtown, highlands and NuLu. It had everything you needed, and plenty of nice details (enough toilet and kitchen paper for the whole stay, lots of tea, coffee, spices, even candy!). The house is very nicely decorated. The neighborhood is very quiet and is safe during the day (there is security on the parking lots and people around, as well as police men occasionally). As a woman traveling alone, I didn't feel totally safe at night walking around alone, but I did feel totally safe inside the house. There's a bus stop in the same block and there are always other neighbors staying in other apartments in the same house. Greg was really nice, helpful, and approachable. I met him only once. The house was warmed up before I went there and Greg even offered me a bike to go to work. I would definitely recommend the place for people who are going to interview or work in the hospital area.

My house is in a nice, residential part of Louisville. It's easy to get to the airport, downtown, and popular restaurants via Uber, for less than $10 during normal rates. Many local restaurants are also within walking distance (usually less than 15 minutes). You'll have access to a renovated kitchen, and a private bathroom as well.
The neighborhood is about a ten minute walk from a few cool local restaurants and bars. It's also less than a ten minute drive to a bunch of other bars and restaurants in Louisville. There is also an awesome coffee shop/bakery that just opened less than two blocks away. I love this area. I'll provide a list of some places I recommend with their address and approximate walking distance/time. I always feel comfortable walking, but they're also a short drive/Uber ride if that's more your speed.
  • Great host! Very very nice person and was extremely helpful in making the experience comfortable. Would definitively stay here again the next time I'm in Louisville :)

It was spotless, nicely decorated, and even smelled nice! ;) The private bathroom has direct access from the room, and it was just perfect. The bed has a warm, fluffy comforter on it that will let you sleep like a baby! Jason is very courteous and kind! You will definitely enjoy your stay.

Private 2nd Floor Suite in a 1890’s Victorian in the heart of Old Louisville. Restaurants and bars within a five block radius. Minutes from downtown, 10 min drive to the Highlands, Germantown, NULU, Butchertown, Portland and Churchill Downs.
Guest has access to private bedroom suite and sitting area. The kitchen can be used upon request. There is a twin roll away bed, must let me know ahead of time if needed.
The house is 10 minutes from the airport, and 5-10 minute drive to the convention center and other downtown venues. Old Louisville is a historic district and neighborhood in central Louisville, Kentucky, USA. It is the third largest such district in the United States, and the largest preservation district featuring almost entirely Victorian architecture. It is also unique in that a majority of its structures are made of brick, and the neighborhood contains the highest concentration of residential homes with stained glass windows in US. The Neighborhood is a gentrifying and eclectic.
  • If you are headed to Louisville, then stay with Josh. He has a large, beautiful room with a private bathroom and an attached room for sitting, reading, or enjoying a cup of tea. It is located on a quiet street within the wonderful historic district. Safe to walk around and relatively convenient. The price is well worth it too. Josh respects your privacy and he has the most loving dogs anybody could wish for. If you are not a dog person, no worries, they don't bark and he can keep them downstairs behind closed doors. After you meet them, however, you will appreciate their welcome every time you return home. Thanks Josh! Highly recommended.

  • This home, located in charming Old Louisville, is a real AirBnB gem. The "Rhett & Scarlett" suite is charming with a sitting room, very comfortable bed, and a very nice private bath with lots of thoughtful amenities. The first night we discovered Buck's at The Mayflower—a terrific restaurant about a half-block away. If we return to Louisville, we'll certainly try to stay at Josh's again.

    Joni2018-09-09T00:00:00Z

  • Great place to stay and a good value. The room is large with an extremely comfy bed and a private bath. The neighborhood is typically charming Old Louisville. Josh is friendly and welcoming and made us feel at home. We would stay there again!

    Sue2017-11-10T00:00:00Z
  • While we had no interaction with Josh, he provided a very upscale, comfortable accommodation. The house (outside and in) is meticulously maintained. The room, which includes a separate siting area--which is all you have access to, is quiet and extremely comfortable. It was a little warm, being upstairs, but the fans heiped some with that. When asked, Josh provided a fantastic seafood restaurant recommendation. All in all, it was a great stay for 2 nights, and I would highly recommend his place for booking.

    Gary2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our Airbnb. Josh’s place is in a must see part of any visit to Louisville.

    Roy2018-06-02T00:00:00Z
  • A beautifully appointed room with a comfortable king size bed and elegant bathroom/shower. My first visit to Louisville and my stay was too brief - hope to be back and enjoy again on a future trip. I had no idea that Louisville had such a beautiful neighborhood of historic homes featuring Victorian architecture.

My space is all charm & comfort. You'll have the living room/library suite, w/ full bed, couch & chairs, & door w/ lock. Very private & slightly separate from rest of apartment. I am located w/in walking distance of great restaurants & shops. There are 4 sweet, affectionate cats here. If you have never lived with pets, do not like cats, or do not understand that the cats will be interested in you & want to be near you, please do not book with me. If this does not deter you, then please continue!
Again, I live with four wonderful cats. I continue to have people book who miss this information or who ask me to lock my furbabes away from them while they're here. These cats are part of my family. You don't lock family away. The cats will be present. They will be interested in you, your things, and they will want affection from you, while you're sitting, while you're sleeping. You are more than welcome to close the door to the suite to keep them out during your stay, and I recommend you do so if they're any issue for you or you're not used to the reality of cats. In addition, the cats shed cat hair, and the cats use a litter box. I clean the litter box daily and I lint roll, sweep, mop, wipe down, and vacuum every surface in the house daily or weekly. There is no conceivable way you will get through a stay without encountering evidence that the cats live here too. My home is as clean as it possibly can be with four lovely furballs running about, but their presence will definitely be known to you. If you do not think this sounds like heaven (many book with me who are missing their pets at home, or who love cats and can't have one of their own, etc), or see a cheap rate here and want to book because of that, please consider that my rate is what it is in part because I realize that four cats is a consideration. So, if this does not deter you, you are in luck, because I live in an incredibly desirable area of the city. It is a quiet, safe, residential neighborhood that is a block and a half from two very popular restaurants, half a mile from a half dozen more, and around a mile from even more fantastic restaurants, cafés, and things to do in Louisville in the Highlands and Germantown neighborhoods. I am also within two and a half miles of several other popular neighborhoods, NuLu, Butchertown, Clifton, as well as downtown Louisville. Nearly everything you'll want to do outside of the immediate neighborhood is about a ten minute drive--I am very centrally located. The layout is homey, 900 square feet with three 6' south-facing windows in the living room/library suite where you'll be staying, and the library is well-stocked. There are tons of tchotchkes that make my house a home from a lifetime of collecting (you'll note large amounts of Christian iconography, skulls, bones, bits of rusty metal, brightly colored figurines, and more), I've called my decorating style Victorian-Kitsch Hunting Lodge for years. If you know anything about it, I very much ascribe to a wabi-sabi lifestyle. There is also an eat-in kitchen that's got every cooking implement you could possibly need, if you should need it, and a pantry full of spices. Also, my home is old, and it is not mine to remodel (not that I'd want to). The house was built in the very early 1900s and it is showing its age in places. For instance, the linoleum in the kitchen is easily thirty years old and looks like it; it was once white, and no amount of cleaning will alter the fact that what was once white is no more. It is stained, and it is chipped. I like these shabby bits and find it all very cozy; it's the kind of lived-in home I prefer. If you are expecting to walk into an environment that is hotel-pristine, that doesn't look or feel lived in, where animals will not give you a nudge in the morning for some love, please book a hotel. If it is clear that you have not read this information, I *will* ask you to leave. This is my home, and it is a warm, comfortable space. I expect it to be treated with respect and love.
Nearly everything you'll need is within a mile radius. Lots of shops of all kinds, from small independently owned hardware stores to vintage stores to great restaurants and small neighborhood bars to art supply stores. The area I live in is one of the most desirable places to live in Louisville, and is a rapidly changing, "up and coming" area.
  • Overall I enjoyed my stay with Sarah. The location is phenomenal, Sarah is very nice and helpful, and her apartment is really unique and neat. The bed was nice and firm, the living room/library suite is very cozy, and Sarah allowed us free use of the kitchen as well. We felt very welcome and safe and comfortable here. That said, there was a minor drawback for me, which was partially my fault. I like cats, but I will not again stay in a place with 4 of them. They are nice and clean cats, but they are definitely a major presence in your stay here. The apartment is rather small, and I would not say that the suite is sufficiently, for me, at least, private from them. Also, and this is my fault for not realizing that it would bother me ahead of time, it's just impossible to keep an apartment with 4 cats -- no matter how large and clean the apartment -- free from their smell, nor from their hair. Overall this was a pretty minor downside for me, and again it was one I should have foreseen for myself. The place is clean and not otherwise than advertised, although for whatever reason I thought it would be bigger than it is.

    Jacob2015-09-07T00:00:00Z

  • Such an awesome place to stay in Louisville! Perfect location for a quick walk to Market Street and then down to the Louisville Slugger Stadium. The unit was amazingly decorated and felt very up-scale. Wil provided very specific and easy to follow instructions for check-in. We would definitely stay here again!

    Brynn Marie2017-10-06T00:00:00Z
  • We had a nice stay at Wil's place. Pictures were accurate - the space is very modern and well-kept. Only issues we had were a few little upkeep things: the stairs on the back deck were rotting a bit, the caulk around the tub could have used a good cleaning, and there was a hole in the wall in the bathroom where the towel rack had apparently been ripped out. Overall, though, the place is nice and it's in a really great location.

  • Evan and Jined's place was a wonderful place to stay! It was clean, centrally-located, and safe! We would look forward to staying here again. Notes: plenty of street parking, walkable to plenty of restaurants and coffee shops, and easy access to all that downtown Louisville has to offer.

  • Great host and great location!

    Meaghan2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • This space is wonderful! Everything is so nicely decorated and clean. The bed was so comfortable. The shower is amazing. We had tv to watch if we wanted and good coffee in the morning. The place is near a really cute and fun neighborhood and close to everything. The street was quiet. And the hosts were incredibly friendly and helpful and responded to any requests or questions! Go stay here!

  • Great place with great hosts. Evan and Jined’s place was very clean and ideally located. It is located on a very quit street but only 2-3 blocks away from Market St which has a lot of restaurants. Evan and Jined were very quick with responses to my questions. I would highly recommend their place.

    Sal2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Great Location, very fast communication, clean & cute spot. Would stay here if i ever come back to Louisville. Nulu was the coolest area.

    Timothy2018-04-29T00:00:00Z
  • Evan and Jined’s place was perfect for a weekend getaway. We loved the location walking distance from cool bars and restaurants, and we able to walk down to a Lou City FC game at Louisville Slugger Field. This is a great place to stay!!

    Claire2018-08-19T00:00:00Z
  • Evan and Jined have put together a beautiful, artistic, and immaculately clean space. This location is the perfect jump-off point for exploring Downtown, NULU/Butchertown, and the Highlands. Quiet street with no issues parking whatsoever. Quick responses to questions. Plenty of space for two in the unit. Cute, quirky art throughout. Comfy bed w/ no street noise. We had a chance to meet Jined on Day 2 of our stay and she was so friendly - you could tell these two really care about making sure that folks have a great stay. They provided great recommendations as well - don't miss nearby Quills coffeeshop or margaritas at Galaxie! Would absolutely stay here again!

    Bryan2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • Evan and Jones’s place is a nicely renovated home that retains the feel of the original 1920s house. The “Writer’s nook” room I stayed in had large windows overlooking a tree filled back yard and a modern bathroom and was quite nice. The location is about a mile from downtown.

  • Good location , good host... Thanks Rik!

    Jimmy2016-01-08T00:00:00Z
  • Our experience was great! Rik met us when we first got to the house. He explained everything and gave us a very warm welcome. The house was just as pictured, beautiful throughout. Thanks Rik!

    Brian2016-02-08T00:00:00Z
  • Gorgeous space- high ceilings, brick walls, modern kitchen, and much more. Really enjoyed the venue and was right around the corner from our favorite coffee shop, Please and Thank You. Rik made sure that we felt at home!

    Priya2014-12-25T00:00:00Z
  • When we arrived at the Pearl we were immediately at ease with the area around the location. It was a very quiet street, light traffic and well-lit. Rik met us at the entrance, let us in and showed us around the apartment. Very clean, nicely furnished and fabulous kitchen!! Rik was kind enough to give us a lovely description of places to eat around us and a map of the area. A great place, fabulous area and we will definitely be staying here again.

    Jessica2015-05-19T00:00:00Z
  • Rik was very thorough and accommodated all our needs. A great location in Louisville, probably one of the best in the city!

    Harshvardhan2015-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • We stayed in this apartment for 2 days. It was very nice and centrally located. It had plenty of on street parking and was in very clean condition. The fridge was stocked even though we didn't use it. We were very happy and would stay again if in the area.

    Zachary2015-08-12T00:00:00Z
  • 10/10 would recommend this adorable place to stay! Clean, beautiful, and a breath of fresh air.

    Margaret2018-01-16T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience with AirBnB and the host made it a wonderful one. I came into town to visit family and wanted a place to be able to come and go as I please. They were very accommodating knowing that I would be visiting family constantly during my visit and be in and out. Even though I'm from the area, they took the time to let me know about some new areas that had popped up in my absence that I wasn't aware of. After spending a long day of driving, it was nice to be able to take a hot bath in the Jacuzzi tub and have a comfortable bed to relax in. Overall, they made a great experience and I know if I ever need to book another AirBnB in Louisville their place will be the first that comes to mind.

Please read full listing! Experience sleeping in this cozy master suite located in the heart of Louisville and the Highlands. This hotel-style apartment will put you within a 5min drive of Bardstown Road/Baxter Ave which is home to many of the town's best restaurants, bars & shops. You will have a private entry, access to the backyard, and private bathroom with washer/dryer! There is a tenant living on the other side of the house so you will hear noise and voices (it's an old home!)
This cozy hotel-style apartment within an historic brick shotgun house offers a cozy queen-sized bed with full bathroom, laundry and access to a full backyard. The bed and sheets are hotel-like comfy, and the room offers 11 foot ceilings. We have a full time tenant (she’s very nice and will not be around much but you may run into her as you come in and out of the house) she lives in the front portion of the house and your unit is connected but has its own private entrance. Please note that this is an older home and the wooden floors creek when our tenant goes up the stairs. Expect to hear some noise like voices and talking since this is Airbnb and you are staying in a home but we assure you tell it’s nothing compared to staying in a loud and busy hotel! Please do not book if you’re expecting total silence. New mini-fridge and Keurig added to the unit! There is no kitchen or living room in the space. There is no shared space with the rest of the house. This is a hotel-style unit.
At this location you will be in the heart of everything - The Higlands, Butchertown/Nulu, and Crescent Hill/Frankfort Ave! That's what we love most about this apartment. You will be just a few houses down from a new, highly rated Italian restaurant called "Ciao!" You will also be within walking distance of a local Pizza joint called "Spinelli's" and an awesome Crepery called "For Goodness Crepes". You are a few minutes drive from the three hottest neighborhoods in Louisville - Highlands, Nulu and Crescent Hill. Each offers the best restaurants (with world-renowned chefs), bars, coffee shops and retail. Hometown of The Kentucky Derby, Bourbon, The Louisville Slugger and one of the best food & drink scenes in the country. Come check it out! For visiting Louisville, this space is perfect!
  • Great place to stay at while visiting Louisville. It's an easy walk to either the downtown area or south on Baxter where there are some great bars and restaurants. Having a private entrance to the space was convenient and it was very clean and comfortable. Evan gave suggestions on breakfast places and breweries, which was great. Parking is great with many open spots on the street. The unit is private but part of the owner's home, so you will hear some sounds. But, it was not disruptive at all and I would stay there again if in Louisville again.

    Gary2018-02-19T00:00:00Z
  • Evan and Jined were great at communicating and flexible/accommodating. What we liked: central location, private entrance, huge bathroom with washer/dryer, nice toiletries, very nice renovated big shower. The only two small things - the room was smaller than looked in pictures, there was no shower gel/soap, although a variety of shampoos and conditioners.

    Brett2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • This was our first time staying in an Airbnb. The unit itself was well maintained and comfortable. The hosts were great about communicating with us to make sure all of our needs were met. The only downside was you could hear through the walls easily so didn't feel truly private. But would recommend nonetheless!

    Tori2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • This was my second stay at Evan and Jined’s place and as expected, it was great. From the parking upon arrival to the ease of checking out. Thanks guys

    Jon2018-08-07T00:00:00Z
  • Very conveniently located in the heart of Louisville. Clean, private space with nice shower plus washer and dryer. For the price, would recommend to any traveler passing through Louisville.

    Rosalyn2016-12-30T00:00:00Z
  • Evan and Jined's place was terrific. Everything and more that I needed for a business trip. Very quiet and I was well rested to tackle the big snowstorm that hit the area. Thanks guys, I'll be back if your available.

    Jon2018-03-21T00:00:00Z
  • Fabulous one bedroom private suite, exactly as described and pictured. Quite close to the bars and food on Baxter Ave. Hosts were extremely responsive. Highly recommend!

    Jennifer2018-05-06T00:00:00Z
  • Scott and I love that feeling when we step into our accommodations, smile at each other and say, "Nice job!!" Comfort, cozy, clean and nice style. Jined poked her head out of the door to connect with Scott and made sure we were comfy and had all we needed. Other than more of their delicious coffee blend, we didn't need a thing for our jam-packed weekend of leadership training meetings held only 6 miles from here at Freedom Hall.

This is our neat and rather fab Victorian house near Central Park in Old Louisville, shared among a few young professionals. We're out of town often, so this is a great place for light & independent travelers. It's comfortable to hang out in, or use as a base to explore from. Note: this room is for rent for no less than 30 days at a time.
This is a room within our 130-year old house at the north end of Old Louisville, directly south of the downtown museum district, and few blocks north of Central Park (close to St James Court). The existing house is actually the remaining top two floors of the 3-story building, the 1st floor of which was converted to a bakery in 1922. The total living space is 2000 sqft. Our place is always undergoing some renovation, but it's 'mostly done,' and quite comfortable. We have a large, fenced back yard, and rooftop deck (best room in the house Spring through Fall). The guest room is private, small but with a 10' ceiling and full-size loft bed; it can accommodate two 'fit' people. The house is shared among several young professionals (in the art/design and culinary fields) with varying schedules; it is unlikely to see us all at the same time. We also have a feist (small dog, in our portraits) who is quite friendly. Nota Bene: we do our best to keep things tidy and put together, but this is our home, and we do have lives within and without -- not all is perfect. We welcome you into our home; please remember that it is that and not a hotel.
Old Louisville is the most densely populated and diverse neighborhood in Louisville. We have the most intact neighborhood of Victorian homes after New York City. Century-old trees and the park nearby make this a lovely place to walk around.
  • Jeff and Bess have a really cool house in a beautiful old neighborhood. Jeff bought and renovated the place himself, so it's got a nice mix of the old and modern, and overall it's a comfy place to stay. The guest room was spartan and functional and I felt completely at home in the house. J and B are incredibly polite and nice, and the roommates are good, fun people as well. Definitely a positive experience.

    Dane2012-08-04T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff and Bess were very kind and explained all the situations of the household well.

    David2012-10-21T00:00:00Z
  • Staying at Jeff and Bess's place was great! Location was perfect for my job in Old Louisville. The pets and roommates were also really nice. I felt right at home.

    Danielle2013-11-07T00:00:00Z
  • Although we did not get to meet Jeff & Bess, we saw pieces of them everywhere throughout their beautiful home. The rooftop deck, the artwork, photographs and of course - the dogs - made our stay one of a kind. The location is perfectly suited to exploring both Old & New Louisville. Our thanks for a great stay :)

    Kelly2012-05-08T00:00:00Z
  • The room was simple and cozy, exactly as described. The house was comfortable, the shared bathroom clean and updated, and the rooftop garden--sublime! Access was easily arranged with a code for the lock. The location was beautiful, in easy walking distance from Central Park and with parking right out front every time I came home.

    Karen2015-05-15T00:00:00Z
  • Jeff & Bess are a warm and accommodating couple. I had a restful stay at theirs. They have a remodelled home in a neighbourhood which features solely Victorian architecture. They are part of the revitalization of the old Louisville neighbourhood. There are several young professionals living there in the home yet it was so quiet you'd never know it. Their dogs are calm and friendly. Great value, I would recommend them.

    Loraine 2012-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Everything described was accurate; although I did not meet jeff, our communication was smooth over messages. I recommend it.

    Rami2016-11-12T00:00:00Z
  • The place was as advertised. Jeff was friendly, helpful, and responsive. Louisville is a great town and I'm glad I got to experience it using my room as a base of operations.

Brand new studio apt w/full bath, kitchenette w/full fridge and private deck. Wild West boarding house décor with many unique details. Amenity filled for guests comfort and convenience. W/D on site. Great for couples, singles and business travelers. Apt is centrally located to all Louisville has to offer. Convenient on street parking and secured parking at back of the property. Keycode entry. Full size bed. Rent this with our 1bed/1bath to make a spacious 2bed/2bath we call Fleurdelis Plus
This is an amenity packed studio apt we have created in our 1900's shotgun style house. We stayed away from the same old tired décor and styled it after a boarding house in a wild west mining town ( like Tombstone AZ, which if you have never been to plan a trip there! Its awesome!) It has a full bathroom with a unique shower, toilet, sink and lighting. There is a very comfortable full size bed, small closet and dresser, and small sitting area. There is a full fridge and kitchenette with a breakfast bar to eat at. All small appliances and cookware are available to prepare full meals. Roku TV w/ MLB.tv provided. Private outside deck and gas grill. Small pets (under 20lbs)may be allowed with owners permission. Easy on street parking and secured parking at back of property. We give guests the opportunity to not pay any type of cleaning fee by following a few simple, respectful rules listed in our House Rules so please be sure to read them. This apt may be rented with our larger 1 bed/1 bath apt to make a 2bed/2bath, depending on availability. Please see separate listing we call the Fleur de Lis Plus.
Diverse urban multi-use ( residential, business, wearhouse) neighborhood in the southeast area of downtown Louisville that is close to everything. Logan is a one way street, and we have convenient on street parking available right in front of our house. We also have secured parking for one vehicle at the back of our property, accessible from the back alley. Please let us know if you would like to use this option so we can show you how it works. There are dogs on the block and they do bark. It's not quiet like in the suburbs-Louisville is a large exciting city- but our home is and the neighbors usually are too.
  • We loved our stay! The place was exactly what we needed. It had a beautiful outdoor space so we could take our dog out when needed and parking was a breeze. The bed was comfy and Roku was nice to have as well. Definitely recommend!

  • I’ve stayed in quite a few AirBNBs all over the world now. I’ve lowered my expectations after a few, and that’s usually a good starting point. For this place I didn’t need to do that at all....Top 3 Airbnb’s I’ve ever stayed in! While small this little studio space is a wonderful gem tucked away in an up and coming neighborhood. The amazing little touches the owner added were great. The place has a NOLA vibe with it and we absolutely loved it. Pros: cute cute cute decor Shower and bathroom were perfectly clean and you can tell the owner wanted to make a stylish but rustic point Cute garden outside Lock code entry which I loved Cons: NONE. If anything it was not a super walkable neighborhood, but hey that’s what uber is for and not super far from much

    Krista2018-06-05T00:00:00Z
  • If you visit Louisville, you need to stay with Kelly. She and her roommate are super authentic and fun people. They know the ins and outs of the town and are fun to hang out with. The house is clean and HUGE with a great space. Additionally, it's located very close to a lot of the things you'll want to see in town. The animals are all great as well. Don't hesitate to book with her. It really is a great value for everything you get.

A beautiful and comfortable Highlands Louisville condo. Located just minutes from dozens of restaurants, shops, and attractions! Enjoy our beautiful home and fall in love with Louisville! Walking distance to Seneca and Cherokee Parks 5.4 miles from Churchill Downs 4.7 miles downtown
This spacious and gorgeous condo has been recently remodeled and redecorated to meet the needs of any Kentucky traveler. We are located just minutes away from Louisville's we'll known Bardstown district. Our home is set in one of Louisville's most beautiful neighborhoods.
Highlands is an area in Louisville, Kentucky which contains a high density of nightclubs, eclectic businesses, and many upscale and fast food restaurants. It is centered along a three-mile stretch of Bardstown Road and Baxter Avenue (US 31E/US 150)
  • I stayed for 3 weeks, which was apparently Dustin's first "long term" rental. However, I would have never known this because everything ran so smoothly. Dustin was a great host and made sure that I had everything I needed. The home itself was exactly as described online. The bed was very comfortable and they provided some amenities in case I had forgotten some from home. It is in a quiet neighborhood and not far from some of Louisville's best bars and restaurants. Overall, I would definitely recommend this listing to anyone traveling to Louisville. I couldn't have asked for a better first AirBnB experience and will definitely look into staying here if I ever travel to Louisville again.

  • The listing description was very accurate. My wife and I felt very comfortable and welcomed by the owners who had also left a plethora of amenities at our disposal. The house was very clean and decorated beautifully. It was worlds above what youd get at a Holiday Inn but at half the price. My wife and I would love to stay here again if we are in town.

  • Beautiful home, perfectly located! Walked into a great welcome note and a great bottle of wine. House had "things you may forget" which was a great touch, I thought. Kaitlin was easy to get ahold of when we had questions and did not seem bothered to answer them. Would absolutely stay again!

  • The place was beautiful, really spacious and spotless and located in a really cute and quiet private neighborhood but still very close to shops and restaurants. the house itself was really welcoming, well decorated and had great touches like private mini fridges, bottled water, and keurigs in the room. Would definitely stay there again.

  • Beautiful house in a great location right next to the Beckley Creek Park. Ross is always down for a welcoming drink, which makes you feel at home. The place is impeccably clean and is in a good spot to enjoy a trip to Louisville.

  • This is an awesome place right in the middle of a really fun neighborhood. Literally right outside the door there were tons of bars, restaurants, and shopping to check out during our short stay. Despite being right by so much nightlife, the building is recessed just enough so we got none of the street noise at night. The hosts were super helpful and friendly and easy to communicate with. They even helped us with directions over the phone when we got turned around due to some street closures. I would definitely seek this place out if I'm ever in town again!

    Michael2017-10-01T00:00:00Z
  • My girlfriend and I stayed here for thunder. It was a great apartment with a short walk down to the river. I would definitely stay here again.

  • Great spot in a great location. Right in the heart of NuLu walkable to lots of great bars, restaurants, shops, and breweries. Like a hotel room but quieter, more private, and with a better location, not to mention a great price!

    Josh2017-04-06T00:00:00Z
  • This place has it all! Great location for enjoying Louisville, charming room, comfortable bed with those lovely pillows, and lots of thoughtful touches. I liked that I could see my car parked just below the window. A wide variety of restaurants, bars, and shops are within easy walking distance.

    Amy2018-01-27T00:00:00Z
  • We really enjoyed our stay at Scott and Mo's place. The loft was super clean and cozy as well as being walkable to amazing restaurants and coffee. There was a slight mix up with checkin, but Scott fixed the problem immediately and was very kind and accommodating. We would definitely stay here again next time we're in Louisville. Thanks again Scott!

My home is in the desirable highlands neighborhood. You are merely steps away from restaurants, shopping and nightlife. Downtown, NULU, Old Louisville and Germantown are all an inexpensive uber ride away. You are truly in the heart of the city and could not ask for a better location. I'm 3.6 miles and a 15 minute drive from Churchill Downs. My place is good for couples, solo adventurers, and business travelers.
You will have access to your own private bedroom and bathroom. The space is bright and cozy with a queen sized bed, ceiling fan, high ceilings, smart tv, wireless internet, white noise machine and some closet space. You will have plenty of privacy. You will also have your own bathroom equipped with shampoo, conditioner, shower gel etc. The bathroom has a nice tiled shower and a I have a hair dryer available if needed. There is always street parking in front of my house. In addition I have two parking spots in our back alley. You will need to come around to the front to enter the house. The back porch locks from the inside.
The highlands is a beautiful historical neighborhood. All of the cities best restaurants and bars are less than 10 minutes away. There are coffee shops, orange theory fitness, bakery, Cave Hill Cemetery, boutiques, dining and a nightclub right outside my front door. You really couldn't ask for a better location. There is also a public bus stop on my street. St James Art fair is less than a $10 Uber or Lyft ride away. That way you can enjoy the Art Fair and avoid the expensive parking rates. The Highlands is a bustling neighborhood, there are always people around and there can be music and noise. I have equipped the bedroom with a white noise machine and ear plugs if you are a light sleeper. This is a perfect location for local festivals and events. St. Patrick's day festivities, the Louisville Zombie walk, highlands pride festival and the highlands fest are right outside my door. Forecastle Festival, Bourbon and Beyond and Abbey Road On the River are a quick Uber ride and Churchill Downs is only 15 minutes.
  • Tracy was an outstanding and welcoming hostess! I truly enjoyed my stay in her beautiful home. Very clean and my room and bed were so very comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to stay with her again or recommend her as a host for others.

  • Tracie was an AMAZING hostess. Her home is so comfortable and beautiful. She’s so sweet and she has an amazing kitty named Jack that I adore. The bed was super comfy, fabulous clean bathroom with toiletries, clean yummy towels, the works! Great neighborhood too. I’d love to go back to Louisville just to stay at Tracie’s!

    Deborah2017-10-05T00:00:00Z
  • Clean and comfortable accommodations in a great area. Jack the kitty is super cute. You can come and go as you please with no issues.

  • Our stay with Tracy was amazing. Her home is clean, comfy, chic and beautiful . The location is ideal for driving to all the attractions for it still houses or Churchill Downs. It’s walking distance to Baxter street so we leave the car and walk to all these restaurants in the neighborhood. Tracy was concern about the noice of the bars, but it wasn’t noisy at all and we slept well. She kept in touched with us even when she is at work. Thank you Tracy for sharing your home with us. Love your flower garden out front and your cats are so adorable.

    Donna2018-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Tracy’s space was immaculate and comfortable. The location was excellent with numerous restaurants and bars within walking distance. Tracy was an excellent host and responded to all requests quickly. My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time on our first visit to Louisville! Highly recommend.

  • Tracy and her main man (or cat) Jake were such wonderful hosts! Her house is so beautiful and homey! Everything was comfortable and my husband and I felt right at home! There were really great restaurants in walking distance. I recommend the Grail House for dinner and drinks, and they also have a bed and breakfast where we had breakfast because the food was just that phenomenal! I highly recommend Tracy! She is super sweet and loving! Jack will also greet you and follow you around and cuddle you if you are lucky! This is a MUST stay airbnb!

    Ashley2018-09-05T00:00:00Z
  • Josh's place was clean, cozy, and conveniently located to everything I wanted to see and do in town. I rented a car, which is probably ideal in Louisville. The room is large, more than enough space to spread out and get comfortable. The bathroom was sparkling clean, too. Josh couldn't have been nicer. Went above and beyond to make sure my needs were satisfied. Highly recommend.

We live in the Germantown area of Louisville which is centrally located to so much this city has to offer. There are plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance as well as a grocery store only a few blocks away.
  • Great hosts. Great shower water pressure and super soft towels.

  • Bob and Mike were wonderful hosts!! They were so hospitable and gave great recommendations on things to do, places to eat in the area. Their home is lovely - so are they and their sweet dogs. Bob was very quick to respond when communicating about our trip and everything was just as great as advertised on their listing. We enjoyed our stay with them and would definitely do it again next time we are in the area. Thanks Bob and Mike!

  • Bob and Mike have a beautiful home in an historic section of Louisville. The guest accommodations are well kept and their house is clean and inviting. Connecting with them and planning for my arrival and stay was very easy and they made me feel very at ease in their home. They were both excellent hosts and I enjoyed our evening porch time and conversation.

  • Bob and Mike were incredible hosts. I was only their second guest, but they were natural pros! Their house is spacious and cozy, and I had the best sleep. Not only were they flexible (I booked day-of!), but they were engaging, generous, kind, interesting, and all-around incredible guys! Thanks Bob and Mike!!!

Quiet, conveniently located home in one of the city's most desirable neighborhoods: The Highlands. Guests will enjoy "run of the house" privileges, for the exception of the lower level, which is my private space. I rent two bedrooms on the first floor, and these two guest rooms share one bathroom. I sleep in a separate bedroom on the second floor, and use a private bath in the lower level. I recently moved back to Louisville and am happy to resume hosting!
Coming to Louisville for a night or a week? Moving to town but not sure where to live? I have rent two extra first floor bedrooms with a shared bath in my comfortable 3 bedroom completely renovated bungalow in the Highlands area of Louisville. Your bedroom has a closet, dresser, nightstand and a firm queen size mattress with comfort padded top. The adjacent bathroom has a tub/shower with rain style shower head. For those who have allergies, note that I have 2, nine-year-old cats who are very well-mannered and affectionate, but pretty much stay to themselves. My place isn't all "furry" though. I'm fanatic about keeping my home clean and orderly. Often people comment that if they hadn't seen the cats they wouldn't even have known I had any. Nightly rate includes clean linens, towels, and bathroom essentials (shampoo, body wash or soap, etc), complimentary wi-fi, as well as your choice select Starbucks brand coffee and teas available all day long via my Keurig. There are approximately 7 restaurants within a 3 block walking distance of my home. I am less than a half mile from Bellarmine University, approximately 3 miles from the University of Louisville, and less than 10 miles from the airport and 5 miles from the central business district downtown. I keep a fairly busy schedule so generally guests generally have the house to themselves. I am an avid cook (not professional), so if you are so inclined, you are welcome to use anything in the kitchen you find available. I also grow a variety of veggies in a fairly small seasonal garden, so depending on what's ripe, you're more than welcome to pick from the garden, which may include a couple different varieties of lettuce, tomatoes, peppers, yellow squash, zucchini, green beans, broccoli, cucumbers and some herbs. NON SMOKING ONLY.
Deer Park is a neighborhood four miles southeast of downtown Louisville, Kentucky, USA. Most of the neighborhood was developed from 1890 through the 1920s as a streetcar suburb, with all but six of its 24 subdivisions being developed by 1917, and the last laid out by 1935, although some development west of Norris Place continued after World War II. (Information provided by Wikipedia.) My home sits in the middle of the Deer Park neighborhood, which is considered a part of a larger area of Louisville called The Highlands. It's a very eclectic part of town. It's a very walkable area with mixed architecture that includes craftsmen-style homes like mine, Victorians, and everything in between. It's a quiet and charming part of town, just 4 miles from the central business district downtown. There are 2 parks within walking distance - Tyler Park and the much larger Cherokee Park, which features a 2.5 mile paved walking loop. Bardstown Road, with a great mix of independent shops, galleries, restaurants and bars is just 3 blocks away.
  • Perfect host, responsive and easy to work with.

    Patricia2015-06-29T00:00:00Z
  • Michael was a great host! He was very accommodating and welcoming. I’d definitely recommend his place.

    Cathy2018-01-30T00:00:00Z
  • We totally enjoyed our stay at Michael's beautiful house! It was super clean, beautifully decorated and very quiet. Michael was very welcoming and helpful. He has many good recommendations for restaurants and cafes in the area. We were happy to stay in the Highlands area, and you can easily walk to the lively Bardstown Rd from the house. We're big cat fans, so that was another plus for us. The patio is great as well. We can warmly recommend this place!

    Sanna2015-06-22T00:00:00Z
  • Michael's home was spotless and the bedroom was extremely comfortable. Though our stay was brief it was very pleasant and Michael was a friendly and helpful host.

    Eleanor2018-04-08T00:00:00Z
  • My stay at Michael's was very comfortable. Michael is a warm host, and he responded immediately to all my queries. He had some great recommendations too about what to do and where to eat etc. The rooms are very neat and clean, and the house is beautiful. The cats are really cute and do not bother one at all! We really enjoyed our stay and would love to stay here again if we visit again.

    Manan2014-06-24T00:00:00Z

    John2018-04-15T00:00:00Z
  • Michael’s home is beautiful, comfortable (the bed especially!) and easily located for lots of local adventures! He is also an excellent host. I’d stay here again in a heartbeat. Thank you, Michael!

    Katie2018-04-07T00:00:00Z
  • We truly enjoyed sharing Michael's home with him. It was neat and tidy and the amenities were perfect. Great street parking in front of the house, too! Shenanigan's Irish Grill was a great neighborhood perk. Walking distance to Bardstown Road for a stroll and a meal or snack. Very convenient to U of L and downtown Louisville. Also, 15 minutes to Airport! Michael is very knowledgeable about the neighborhood and surronding areas. And a good cook. In short, charming. He deserves his five stars.

NuLu is best known for its art galleries, specialty stores, antique shops and a growing number of local, upscale restaurants. The term “NuLu” is a portmanteau meaning “New Louisville”. As home to the greenest commercial building in Kentucky, many historic restoration projects, as well as several restaurants offering organic and locally sourced ingredients, NuLu has emerged with a culture of sustainability. Market Street is one of four major corridors inextricably intertwined with the history and development of Louisville; the earliest map of the city identifies Water, Main, Market and Jefferson Streets. In this section of the map you can clearly see the 800 block of Market between Shelby and Campbell. In 1804 the first Market house was established at Fourth and Market. The first brick house built in Louisville was constructed on the south side of Market between 5th and 6th Streets. During the 1820s the street was the scene of impromptu horse racing. During the early part of the 19th century Market Street was the common address for retailers and service industries supporting Louisville’s development as a center for regional commerce. The thoroughfare was the heart of the development of the city as a livestock market with herds of livestock in constant travel along Market between the Bourbon Stockyards and the river. During mid-century, the increased traffic along Market necessitated widening the street to accommodate the great variety of traveling merchants and products. Three block long sections of Market, between Floyd and Preston, Campbell and Shelby and Sixteenth and Seventeenth Streets were widened and several market houses were established here. In 1892 the Methodist Episcopal Church at 216 S. Shelby housed the Shelby Street Market (This is now the site of the Flea off Market). As part of this development a small park was established on Market Street between Shelby and Campbell. Named Kenton Place the park ran the length of the block and was enclosed with a fence to separate visitors from the streetcars that bypassed on the north side. However, by 1905 the park had been removed and the trolley traveled the center of the streetin 1940s The adjacent neighborhoods of Butchertown and Phoenix Hill and the Bourbon Stockyards at the east end of Market insured that Market Street was a vital artery of commerce. The 1852 City Directory noted “the entire extent of this street is given up to retail grocers, provisions dealers, and clothiers”; almost everything purchased in Louisville, either was produced or sold on Market Street. During the last half of the 19th through the early 20th century, at the beginning of the era of the great department store, three major Louisville retailers, Levy Brothers, Bacon’s, and Loevenhart’s open for business on Market Street. The historic integrity of feeling and association of the area today is supported by an eclectic mix of retail shops, restaurants and businesses. The diversity of this neighborhood is evidenced by the historic fabric that exists today along this corridor. This fabric is rich in historic design, materials and details; brick, limestone, cast iron. This is not limited to above ground structures. Recent archaeological investigations in downtown Louisville have revealed that a wealth of cultural historic resources are intact and these sites could have potential significance for their data content. During the nineteenth century Market Street was an important center of commerce and industry. Like many other urban historic business districts during the 1960s and 1970s it experienced a decline when competition from new commercial shopping areas began to be developed in the suburbs. However, Market has learned to reinvent itself and has become a unique destination. This strength is evident by the establishment of the East Downtown Businessman’s Association (now the East Market District Association) whose goal is to work together toward the revitalization of their commercial district. In 2007, Preservation Kentucky commissioned a study to analyze the economic impact of historic preservation in the Commonwealth. In that study completed by Dr. John Gilderbloom of the University of Louisville, the importance of historic, walkable, approachable downtowns appears through such varied topics as job creation, environmental benefits, and heritage tourism. In terms of job creation, noted economists agree that historic preservation creates 43 jobs for every $1 million invested — new construction cannot come close to that figure. Downtown revitalization in Kentucky created an estimated 4720 jobs in 2006 alone. Reports for across the state confirm that 1,923 permanent jobs were created in Main Street districts in 2006. From the study, “In Louisville alone, $76 million was spent on private rehabilitation projects on Main Street in 2006.” These projects support Louisville’s historic revitalization but more importantly they help retain the city’s unique Sense of Place.
  • The space was so cute and clean! We loved being able to walk to all sorts of restaurants and shops. Would definitely recommend!

  • Great location in a hip up & coming neighborhood, perfectly situated between Fourth Street tourist area & the Highlands nightlife. Biking around downtown & river parks was awesome. This is a true studio so much like a hotel room but very clean & bed was very comfortable. Would stay again.

    Mark2018-06-06T00:00:00Z
  • This studio was perfect for an overnight stay in Louisville! It was clean, unique, and perfectly-located; the hosts were very communicative and accommodating. We were not able to take advantage of the bike rentals, but wish we could have. The only, small con is the simple kitchen; it only has a sink, microwave, coffee maker, and fridge, so if the ability to cook is absolutely necessary this might not be the ideal place. Overall, an exceptional experience, and a great value for the price.

    Kylie2018-07-06T00:00:00Z

Hey there! This room has been newly renovated but due to the rest of the home not being fully reno'ed it is up at a discounted rate! We're about a 5 min drive to Churchill Downs and the UofL Stadium, 10 minutes to UofL/Speed Museum, and 15 minutes to YUM Center and waterfront. We do offer you a single room/private bthrm, but we welcome you to our entire home. We do have 3 pets. All are super friendly, but we want you to be mindful if you have allergies!
Our home is in an eclectic neighborhood filled with families and college students. You of course have your private room / private bathroom all located in the basement with your own entrance; but your also welcome to our newly renovated kitchen. We have a keurig in the basement (for those who want some privacy before dealing with the world) for coffee or tea, water bottles now provided.
Our neighborhood has a wonderful mix of everyone! We've got college kids, families, immigrants, artists, and other great contributors that make the neighborhood wonderful and safe. It is an urban neighborhood and some guests may prefer to take an uber / lyft or drive at night.
  • Great location for a great price right next to the UofL main campus. Megan was a great respectful host and it was what I was needing for my night in Louisville.

  • Megan is quick to communicate, and her space is clean comfortable and quiet. Highly recommend.

  • Megan was very responsive. She has the ideal quiet, basement studio space for a solo or couple traveler. Very cute touches throughout and a very comfortable bed. Everything was clean and ready for you. I also love the bathroom that set right off your bedroom. I definitely would stay again and recommend others to spend some time at Megan's.

  • We had a wonderful stay. We came for a wedding at the Kentucky Derby Museum and Megan's place was just a couple of minutes away, within walking distance! She was very friendly and welcoming. Definitely recommend!!

Great value plus close, easy interstate connection! A lovely, nice sized corner room with new flexibility for twin or king sized beds. There's a desk, reading chair. Coffee/Tea service in room. Shared bath (with one other room) in hall just two steps away. A quiet place on a dead end street with woods in back.
This calm sky blue bedroom is clean, simple, comfy with trees visiting you through each of two windows. Birds serenade in the early morning. Some guests enjoy staying for weeks, others rest up for the evening. The bath is just in the hallway, full shower and tub...all amenities provided. Simple, Clean Refreshing is one of two "cozy" sized bedrooms for rent here sharing baths. Guests sometimes comment on enjoying the sense of community and getting to know others while maintaining a sense of privacy and a quiet nights sleep.
From the front, my street looks like any other neighborhood full of little brick houses. But in the back, facing the woods, you'd hardly know you were in the same neighborhood. You can walk through the woods and come out onto a sweet little walking trail near Bear Grass Creek. There's a new bbq place just two blocks from here...delish!
  • Wonderful place to stay! Love it.

  • As an AirBNB first-timer, I didn't really know what to expect, but I'd have to say I really lucked out finding a listing with Jan on my first try. The room itself was clean, very pretty, quiet, air-conditioned, had great wifi access, and was in general, all-around cozy. No complaints there, though the real treat of my week-long stay was talking to Jan herself (and of course her dog, Charlie). I generally like to keep to myself, but she made me feel very welcome. Conversation with her is always interesting, and her included breakfasts are absolutely fantastic. I don't think I had the same breakfast twice, and it was delicious every time. Overall fantastic experience, highly recommended.

  • Janice is a wonderful host and a very interesting, kind person. After an amazing and exhausting time at Bonnaroo, staying at Janice's peaceful abode is exactly what we needed. The room is cheerful and Janice has a great tea service and snacks, and the bed is bigger than it looks. Janice was also able to accommodate my kitty and we are thankful to her for her hospitality and for sharing with us her cool stories!

  • Janice was fantastic. She welcomed me in such a nice way. I strongly recommend Janice. She is a perfect host. She prepared a breakfast cup that was really yummy. The bed is really comfortable and the room is quiet too.

  • Janice is a very welcoming, friendly, and excellent host. The room was great and the bed very comfortable, I had a great nights rest while at her home. I could not ask for a better experience.

  • Back to the grind of teaching and commuting, but Jan always offers a welcome respite from the chaos. Her home is always comfortable and warm, and Charlie dog is an added bonus. Very happy to have her home as my home away from home.

    Adam2016-08-31T00:00:00Z
  • Yet another comfortable and quiet stay at Jan's. Great breakfast bowls and smoothies, good conversation, and fun times with Charlie dog.

  • Janice was a great host. It was a clean, charming, artistic house. Breakfast was delicious and she had plenty of fun suggestions for us to do in Louisville.

Louisville's first permanent Tiny House may be small in stature, but it is huge in value! The studio layout with easy to operate library, Murphy bed optimizes the 448 sq ft footprint, while not compromising comfort. *No locals, please*
It's tiny, coming in at just under 450 square feet. But, it has everything you need and then some! 48" LED flat screen TV with cable and Netflix, wireless Internet, washer and dryer, cook and serve ware. Everything you need to feel like you're at home, but better!
    Great sense of community!

  • This really is the best way to stay in Louisville regardless of what's bringing you! This swanky pad has everything you need and is centrally located for ease of access. Emma made the stay easy by opening her home and providing a great atmosphere to relax and beat the heat. This place really is a must!

  • Best place to stay in Louisville! This tiny house has it all! Great retreat in the city. Large bathroom, washing machine and dryer, kitchen and great living space. Outside is a great yard and porch! Can't wait for my return trip for Easter! Emma was a text away to answer any questions! Loved it!

  • We had a great time at the Derby City Tiny House. The accommodations were as advertised and actually took pictures of the bathroom for some remodeling ideas!! Yes it is NOT in the nicest part of town (think this was touched on by another review) but we had no issues and it was in 15+ minute walking distance of some very cool restaurants and bars. The only negative was the weather and our schedule did not allow us to open those patio doors. Thanks Emma.

    Scott2016-05-02T00:00:00Z
  • This apartment was great. Really harming space. Emma was so easy to book with. She responded right away and made everything really easy!

  • This house was great! It was so neat and tidy and well-decorated. We so enjoyed the little extras like the coffee, the robes and the lovely lotions and potions. We were able to take an uber ride to the heart of the city where we indulged in the CITY TASTE TOUR! We would recommend this tour because it not only drove us to many popular sites in the city but also provided food and drink tastes which were generous. The ladies who ran it were fun and engaging! It was nice to have a washer and dryer, too. The house was easy to find from highway 75. We highly recommend this unique stay in Louisville.

  • The tiny house itself was great! Very clean and had everything we needed for our stay. As mentioned in other reviews, the surrounding area is a little questionable, there were two houses with boarded up windows on the same street. Quick Uber ride to surrounding restaurants and bars though!

    Carly2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Emma set us up with super thorough instructions for the tiny house and contact for her property manager. We did have to call him initially to figure out the lock and he answered right away and walked us through it. We posted up for a couple nights in our cozy house, walking to dinner and coming back to take a bath and watch Stranger Things in bed. It was pretty great. Everything was exactly as expected and off the charts on the cleanliness factor. I guess that's the advantage of having a tiny place. I'm sure it would be a great place for a couple during Derby- especially if you want to take advantage of the private lawn/deck and have a couple beers in the sunshine. It's a fairly residential part of the city but everything is easily accessibly by a 6-10 min uber ride. It made me want a tiny house, too!

This was my first AirBnB experience and it was fantastic! The suite was exactly how it was pictured in the listing, clean and adorable. The neighborhood was quite and charming. My husband and I had a very late check-in, so we were not able to meet Luke and Katie upon arrival. When we arrived, they left all the lights on which felt very welcoming and inviting. They also left a binder with information about the suite, check-in/check-out instructions, recommendations on where to eat, and things to do in Louisville. The suite had everything you would need as if you were staying in a hotel, and felt comfy and cozy as if staying at home. If we visit Louisville again, we will definitely check to see if Luke and Katie's suite is available.
