  • Priscilla, Sheshy's mother, made us most welcome on our arrival. The house is in attractive gardens in a pleasant neighbourhood. it is not easy to find so make sure you have adequate directions before you set off. Although the room was small, there was a large sitting room which we could have used. Dinner and breakfast was served in the kitchen.

  • We had a wonderful time with Seshy. It is a beautiful and well appointed property. The flat we had had its own access, and everything we could need. It was clean and well cared for. Seshy was always available to answer enquiries. I would surely stay here again.

Attractive Chalet/Cabin near Pembroke House School, Gilgil. Fully furnished and kitted out with everything for self catering. Big windows with nice views over Naivasha, light & airy. Nestled in to a forest with 3 other chalets with good security.
  • The place is lovely. Nice drive and not to far from Nyanyuki town. It's scenic and quiet. Exactly what you need if one is running away from the noisy city. The windows are large, it was very comforting to look outside and enjoy the view, the birds and the rain. George is a cook, he cooks delicious food. Ask for him when you go there. Sarah is the cleaner. She is very clean. Both excellent people, good at what they do and very polite. Christine the host is very responsive. Quick and provides all the details to make your way there.

The Nest Lake Elementaita features an Eco- Cabin Log set on red cedar decks with front-row views of the ethereal Lake Elementaita and are fronted by the sandy beach of the lake whose backdrop is a pink mosaic of flamingos and the imposing “Sleeping Moran” mountain. A perfect space for nature lovers. This is a self service accommodation, guests can bring their food to cook in the kitchen on site.
The Eco- Cabin Log, perched on a private one-acre plot, features a double bedroom, a modern walk in bathroom, a furnished terrace and a beautifully manicured garden with trees and flower plants. Within the premises, there’s a fully kitchen container kitchen for use so you can prepare your own food. The Nest experience is an extension of your home. The live-in caretaker will be present at all times, making sure your experience is as comfortable as you possible.
Between Lake Naivasha and Lake Nakuru lies another of Kenya’s alkaline lakes – Lake Elementaita. Set within the eastern portion of the Rift Valley, the lake was produced approximately 12 million years ago, and today much of the lake is part of the private Soysambu Conservancy. The area is much less visited than other natural attractions in the region, so you enjoy a sense of privacy and solitude in a wondrous volcanic landscape. The 48,000-acre conservancy where Lake Elementaita sits, serves as a sanctuary for nationally threatened colobus monkeys, endangered Rothschild giraffes, elusive predators, avi-fauna and many other species. The ecology of Lake Elementaita is greatly influenced by rain and water levels. Specific conditions must be maintained, or the levels of algae, fish and invertebrates declines. When the abundance of these food sources declines, birds and other species prefer other Kenyan soda lakes where food is easier to locate. As a result, the number of flamingos and pelicans fluctuates. Even in less-than-optimum conditions, though, the lake is a paradise for bird lovers, offering more than 450 species, including migratory birds from Europe and other locations. The varied terrain offers volcanic hills, acacia woodlands, and grassy plains. As you walk across the diverse landscape, you may come upon craters, lava flows, plugs and other remnants of the region’s rich volcanic history, as well as odd geometric patterns created by the process of erosion in the highly porous soil. Towards the southern end of the lake are the Kekopey hot springs, a location that is thought to be an ancient passage site involved in the yesteryear ivory and slave trades Today Lake Elementaita is a protected area due to its birdlife fame and it has been named as one of the heritage sites together with the Lake Nakuru and Lake Bogoria by UNESCO.

A rustic cottage with comfortable log bed, and modern bathroom located at Oasis Eco Camp. The cottage is within an acacia forest for privacy and has a partial view of the Lake. Solar power with backup generator available. The perfect hideout.
Rustic design using eco friendly materials.
Located on the shores of Lake Elementaita with plenty of birdlife, nature walks, biking and hiking opportunities. Lake Nakuru park in the neighborhood.
  • Beautiful location we enjoyed or stay

  • A modest place certainly, but nice. Very nice. Our rondavel style cottage was roomy with a great bed. The bath was clean and large with steaming hot showers morning and night. A small upstairs balcony is great for tea and offers a peak at the lake over the tops of acacias. The staff was friendly, energetic, and efficient. Our early dinners were served on time… well perhaps 20 minutes late once or twice, but well within reasonable expectations for a rustic camp. But for us, the best part of this camp its surroundings. Set on the virtually undeveloped south end of Lake Elementiata, you can hike the lake shore amid nearly pristine acacia woodlands. The lake is a major rookery for Great White Pelicans. We saw both flamingos (hundreds, not thousands!), plus loads of waders and shorebirds. Good birding inland as well. The camp seems to be a popular destination for weekending Nairobi residents. Over Christmas, the camp was packed, with extra tents set up on the beach to accommodate the carloads. Still, it was a family atmosphere – not a rowdy, party vibe. Picture extended families line dancing to South Asian pop. But nature lovers should plan on a mid-week stay. Be advised that electricity is normal voltage (220) but low amps. You can plug in your phone, but not your hot pot/ teakettle. Also, even the camp kitchen has zero refrigeration. So don’t plan on being able to bring your own perishables without an ice chest. When we come again (and we hope we will get the chance) we will bring our own drinking water. The small bottles for sale on site are bit expensive. Meals are available to order. Expect only local fare: gnawable chicken/beef/goat with rice/ugali/chapattis. Prices are moderate. We had one minor misunderstanding. Despite the fact that breakfast was listed as an amenity on the Air B&B listing at the time of our booking, the camp owner informed us that breakfast was extra. Fortunately, we learned this before our arrival, so we were prepared. Overall, we had a wonderful time and would highly recommend this beautiful place.

  • This is a really great place for those who know exactly what they are looking for. This is a very secluded retreat hidden in the wilderness on the shore of lake Elementaita. Do t expect it to be a 5 star hotel. Hot water is only 6am to 8am and then 6pm to 8pm. Electricity is also very scarce. The place is not connected to the grid so it uses combination of solar and diesel generator. If you want to be served breakfast/lunch/dinner - order one day in advance. The cuisine is very basic but it is real Kenyan rustic food. The host is very nice and hospitable and his assistants are also very helpful. There are also two nice doggies living on the compound. They supposed to guard the place but in fact they are very friendly. If you don’t have a 4x4 car then getting there may be a challenge. The last mile is almost impassable for a saloon car. So yes, it’s a perfect getaway place so if you manage your expectations you’ll be rewarded.

  • If you don't go expecting frills, you won't be disappointed. Basic but very nice and comes with all essentials. BYOB

  • We loved our stay at Lake Elementaita Eco Camp, albeit a very short stay. This was the last stop of a fairly hectic 2-week roadtrip, and we arrived much later than expected. We did find it a bit difficult to find, and were relieved we had an SUV as the road was very rough. But man was it worth it! The banda we stayed in was basic but perfect...we woke up to thousands of birds, and were a very short walk from the lake, where we spent hours watching flamingos, pelicans and hundreds of other bird species! It was peaceful and beautiful. We'll definitely be back!

Everything was PERFECT! En Korika is even more lovely than in the photos. Every detail of the house was gorgeous. The staff were wonderful, and took such fantastic care of us. The grounds - and especially the gardens - were amazing; it was a delight to pick our dinner from the expansive farmlands. We had an extraordinary time - I plan to stay there every time I am in Nakuru!
