Just booked in Poughkeepsie
Sleep staring at stars in wine country! Featured in The New York Times, The Today Show & called by Forbes "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House," the Hudson Valley Glass House is a magical getaway. Just 90 mins from NYC, but a world away. 30 acres of rolling hills give total privacy & isolation as glass walls open up onto endless views of vineyards, orchards, & wildlife (spy coyote, deer, & amazing birds!). Modern comforts (WiFi, A/C, loaded kitchen) mean you don't have to give anything up.
Hi! If you're thinking of booking, please message me first to confirm, and also please read the entire listing to the end as it likely answers any questions you may have... Welcome to The Glass House. Come see why Forbes called it "The World's Most Beautiful Tiny House" and called an "off-grid oasis" on The Today Show. Sleep staring at the stars and feel the stress melt away in this glass-enclosed tiny house (just 180 square feet!) retreat, just 90 minutes from NYC, but a world's away. This is a truly special place, and most people find it surprising that it can exist so close to New York. With all sorts of wildlife coming within inches of the house (don't be surprised if you see coyotes, families of deer, and every type of bird you could imagine--not to mention more butterflies than you've ever seen, depending on the season), this is a truly immersive experience into nature. But despite its small size and isolated location, it is surprisingly luxurious on the inside. The listing includes: -A 180 square-foot glass-enclosed tiny house, offering spectacular 360-degree views of the Hudson Valley and surrounding vineyards and apple orchards -Lots of privacy on a 30-acre farm. -Outdoor dining and lounging furniture, along with access to a fire pit that you can definitely grill on. -A plush queen-sized bed with a super-comfy memory foam mattress and insanely comfortable pillows -A dining table with two chairs for sitting and eating. -A modern stainless-steel kitchen with a mini-fridge, induction cooktop for cooking, microwave, and electric kettle. Despite the small size, it has just about everything but a range oven. -Wi-Fi for keeping in touch with the real world and streaming shows on your personal devices. Also note that while the house is tiny and has a maximum occupancy of two people, I am sometimes able to accommodate larger parties for those bringing tents and willing to camp outside. Please inquire about pricing for such scenarios. FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS: Q: Can I get to the house without a car? A: The house is about 25-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber JUST launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Same with basic toiletries (unless I happen to be out, which is very rare). Q: Is this house really off the grid? A: Yep! It features solar panels for power, a propane HVAC system for heating and air-conditioning, and a unique dry-flush toilet (more on that in the "Other Things To Note" section below). One exception: You absolutely have working Wi-Fi. Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless entry system with a code that lasts as long as your stay. This allows for effortless check-in and entry. Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Take a look at my reviews—I think you'll find my guests agree! Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All but $10 of that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does a great job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. The dry-flush toilet cartridges cost me about $20 apiece, so the remaining $10 lets me split that cost with guests. (Of course, if you happen to use more than one cartridge, I cover that cost alone). Q: What's my total booking price? A: I honestly have no idea. With fees included, Airbnb only shows the guest, and not the host, the total cost. This figure should be present after you enter your dates. Note that, pricing varies on a daily basis, and Airbnb actually uses some crazy algorithm to adjust it automatically, so I don't actually control this. Q: I am looking for a last-minute stay. Can I make a same-day booking? A: If you're looking for a same-day booking and the place is free, please inquire and I'll try! It depends on whether my cleaning crew can spring into action at the last-minute, which isn't a sure thing. Check-in may also have to be later than the listed time in order to make sure the place is ready. Still, can't hurt to ask. Q: I know it says "No Animals". Can I bring my small/well-behaved dog? A: I love dogs, but there is a farm dog who gets very nervous when other dogs are around, and so we can not allow animals. This is also for your dog's safety, as there are coyotes in the area. Basically: Please don't try to sneak one in--this really doesn't end well. Q: I'm a blogger/YouTuber/influencer. Can I stay for free? A: No. NEW: There's now a second tiny house at the farm. If you have a larger group and are looking to rent both (the new one can hold three people), definitely inquire. Or check it out for yourself here: https://www.airbnb.com/rooms/29535692 One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "Don't throw rocks at glass houses!!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
The Glass House is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy, but are joined on the farm by the main farm house, a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency, and one other tiny house. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards—many of which are absolutely worth a visit. Downtown Marlboro is minutes away and has a few nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 25 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 30 minutes away. Also near: New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley gems.
  • It was a beautiful tiny home in a serene and lovely place, the neighbors were helpful and cheerful (except for one) the host was terrific and I thoroughly enjoyed my stay!

  • This place may be tiny, but the effect on the psyche is huge. It was the perfect quick escape from the frenetic pace of city life.

    Jack2017-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Look no further! This tiny house is incredibly cozy and is beautifully maintained. Very close to the Hudson River for Kayaking and multiple state parks for hiking and day trips. Fire pit was excellent for cooking in the evenings and the secluded location was very relaxing. Thank you Seth!

  • Seth’s place is absolutely magical. It is in a perfect location with amazing views. The house really has everything you would need. Totally recommend Weed Orchard and Winery (which is within walking distance) Seth is quick to respond with anything you should need or have questions about. Truly a great place with a great host!

  • pictures don’t do this place justice, absolutely incredible home

    Michael2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • This is perfect for an escape from city life. Sleeping looking out at the stars at night and waking up to the beautiful surroundings around you is awesome. Our favorite part I admit was the little pond behind the house with otters living in it:)

    Ashley2018-04-27T00:00:00Z
  • In a word: Magical. The Glass House is a unique place that is unlike anywhere else I've ever stayed. Yes, it's a tiny home, but the giant windows make it feel surprisingly spacious and we never felt cramped. The best part is when you go to sleep. When you turn the lights off the glass walls seem to disappear and, like the listing says, it feels like you're sleeping outside under the stars. The farm itself is also awesome, with tons of space to explore. In the early spring, we had great views of some amazing scenery. We also enjoyed making a fire in the fire pit down by the pond. It really was recharging to feel like we got away from it all. The place was also very clean with some nice design and decor touches and had a very comfortable mattress. Seth was a great and attentive host who quickly got back to any questions I had. I'll definitely be back.

    Kari2017-04-05T00:00:00Z
  • We had the most magical weekend at Seth's. For 2 city dwellers who are not really cut out for camping, this was the perfect way to experience nature in all of its peace and privacy and glory without having to rough it in the least. We took the train up from NYC Friday afternoon - as Seth mentions, it's only about 25 minutes from the Beacon station - and took a taxi from the station, which was super easy. We were completely blown away by the peaceful and beautiful experience offered by the tiny glass house. The pictures can't even convey how stunning the views are and how incredible it is to wake up surrounded by nature on all sides. There is an amazing farm/grocery store nearby where we did all our shopping on Seth's recommendation and we also got eggs from the farm! We had the most amazing time cooking (the induction stove really is genius) and eating outside at the fire pit. Every little thing in the tiny glass house is so thoughtful, from the coffee press to the speakers to the books left for reading in the perfect bed nook (which is incredibly comfortable and fit my 6'2 boyfriend no problem!). We thought we would cozy up and watch our favorite shows all weekend, but we ended up spending most of the time just laying in bed looking out onto the view and it could not have been lovelier. I can't recommend Seth's place enough! It truly is the perfect retreat.

We are conveniently located within a 10 minute WALK from the Poughkeepsie Train Station and the historic Walkway over the Hudson! Our three family home is nestled in the Little Italy district of the City of Poughkeepsie - Appropriately there is no shortage of Italian bakeries or Italian restaurants in our neighborhood! Four restaurants (Amici's, Milanese, Cosimo's and Emiliano's) and two bakeries (La Deliziosa and Cafe Aurora) to be exact, all within WALKING distance! Good food is definitely not hard to come by in our neck of the woods. WALK on down to the Poughkeepsie waterfront... Dine inside or al fresco overlooking the beautiful Hudson River at the River Station Restaurant. Make sure you try one of the five delicious soups, homemade daily or pop into the historic Ice House on the Hudson for some of their yummy eats! Maybe you're just in the mood to cozy up next to a fire and enjoy a delicious glass of wine? Well then WALK down the street and around the corner to the Nic'L Inn. The ambience and artfully crafted menu never disappoints but be careful because their complimentary fried spaghetti can be addictive. • We spent a wonderful time in Highland at casa del arte. We were welcomed by Rob who gave us excellent advices to discover the area (walkway aver the Hudson, restaurants, etc.). The room is very confortable (A/C, fridge and coffee machine) and decorated with Elisa's artworks which are original, interesting and beautiful. We liked our discussion with Elisa who introduced us with her art studio. A very unique place that we highly recommend if you want to visit the Hudson Valley.

  • We had a fantastic, quick stay at Rob and Elisa's! Elisa was happy to accommodate our tight schedule, and Rob made sure to catch us on our way out to say goodbye. The room itself was clean and comfortable, with private bath and a coffee maker ready to brew next morning's cup. We only wish we could have stayed longer to enjoy the beautiful fall weather in this lovely part of the Hudson Valley!

  • Troy was literally the greatest AirBnB host I can possibly imagine. Stay with him - just do it.

    Benjamin2015-10-12T00:00:00Z
  • I can't wait for another opportunity to visit Troy's magical Scandinavian home. What I thought would be crashing somewhere for the night turned into a relaxing, restorative vacation experience that made me feel like I'd had more than one short night outside of NYC. Troy is truly the most wonderful host I've ever had. He was completely easy to plan with, and even invited me to join him and his friends for a stunning seafood paella dinner the night of my stay. When I showed up having just cut my thumb and bleeding, he whisked me downstairs for first aid, and then insisted that I keep the antibiotic creme. The highlight of my stay with Troy was a beautiful, elaborate Scandinavian breakfast complete with sweetheart waffles, four types of juice, two kinds of cheese, a soft boiled egg, yogurt, coffee, and more. I never wanted to leave. I can't recommend staying with Troy in his lovely home enough. I visited with my partner, and the Duchess room downstairs gave us all of the privacy we could want (and an amazing bed where I slept like a baby), while upstairs Troy gave us all of the hospitality we could dream of.

    Madison2015-02-22T00:00:00Z
  • We felt like family as soon as we entered the house and met Troy. Fabulous breakfast, hope to return next year

    Chris2016-10-23T00:00:00Z
  • Troy has created a truly unique Airbnb experience here. I have a lot of admiration and respect for for this level level of hospitality -- it's clear that Troy puts a lot into ensuring his guests have an outstanding stay. Troy's most obvious point of differentiation is his Scandinavian, three-course breakfast. My boyfriend and I loved it -- not only because the meal was delicious, but because we had never tried a lot of those courses before (and quite honestly, I'm not sure where else I'd have the opportunity to try them since many of the ingredients are from Norway). The second is his passion for Hyde Park and its history. Troy seems like an active member of the Hyde Park community and is an expert on the cool things to check out (i.e. drive-in movie theater) or the parts of town that have historical significance. We really appreciated the opportunity to learn about it all. The third is his incredibly welcoming and inclusive nature. You'll understand as soon as you speak with him. Other things to note about the area in general: - Most definitely recommend that you rent a car - Culinary Institute of America campus is stunning - Hudson Brewery is great if you like craft beer

    Elena2017-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • We had a wonderful stay at Troy's place; it's a beautiful home and Troy is a charming host. Breakfast was sensational - we would highly recommend staying here.

    Stephanie2017-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • The most considerate, fascinating host…with a breakfast not to be missed!

    Beany2016-09-06T00:00:00Z
  • Since so many of Troy's other guests have written what I would like to write, I won't bore anyone with the long list of amenities that Troy offers. I will only add that when one stays here, you don't get just a super comfortable bed and room - you get Troy. His heart and soul are in his home and he envelopes his guests with love, warmth, community and luxury. I can be shy and socially awkward, but before I knew it, I was in the kitchen on Friday night chatting and laughing and enjoying Troy and his fabulous friends. I've traveled around the world using Airbnb, and Troy wins. He is an amazing person. Just stay here, you'll see what I mean.

  • We stayed at Troy's place for two nights while attending a weeding in nearby Poughkeepsie. Troy, as other reviewers have noted, is one of those rare hosts who bring their own special dynamic to the bnb experience. It is not only Troy's excellent 3 course breakfast with exceptional food that makes this a unique bnb, but also his generous spirit, incredibly kind and friendly attitude, and his amazing aesthetic sensibility. As for the room itself, it was spacious, comfy and the TV was a nice touch. The bathroom was clean, and the house is beautiful, large and well-lit and makes for a great leisure space. Troy's two dogs are just wonderful and loving, and as welcoming and charming as Troy. We absolutely loved our stay, we'll be back and we're already recommending it to our friends. Thanks again Troy!

    Alex2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first airbnb experience and Troy went out of his way to help me feel comfortable and welcome in his home. Breakfast is a special treat. The location is great for various sites up and down the Hudson River Valley and Troy is very knowledge about the attractions in the area.

    Dora2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Troy’s reputation as a super host is well-deserved and hard-earned. He goes above and beyond to provide an excellent space, a terrific meal, local travel tips without being pushy, and just an overall, warm, hygge feeling to the experience.

    Tristram2018-06-04T00:00:00Z
  • Spent the weekend with two childhood friends and could not have had a more wonderful and memorable weekend at Troy’s. His thoughtfulness and attention to so many details made us feel right at home. Furthermore, Troy’s culinary skills will leave you feeling like you just ate at a 5-star Norwegian restaurant! He prepared the most delicious barbeque with summer salads, while watching the gorgeous sunset over the Hudson River. Along with his lovely and gentle dog Annie, we were greeted by the newest addition to his family, his adorable golden Labrador retriever puppy named Louisa. If you want to experience the most gracious hospitality, laughter around the table, while being surrounded in nature and in the warmth of a beautiful home you won’t want to miss this extraordinary experience. Thank you so much Troy!!

  • Staying with Troy was fantastic. His house was super comfortable and full of cool stuff to look at. He went out of his way to make sure we had a great weekend -- including an incredible 3 course Scandinavian breakfast, complete with homemade gravlax. I really can't recommend staying with Troy enough, and I'm already trying to figure out an excuse to visit Hyde Park again!

POUGHKEEPSIE: Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. A historic industrial port city, Poughkeepsie is currently going through an exciting resurgence, characterized by a grassroots local food movement, farm-to-table restaurants, and a number of revitalization projects, including the renowned Walkway Over the Hudson, the world’s longest pedestrian bridge spanning the width of Hudson River. The Walkway connects the Dutchess County and Ulster County rail trails, making Poughkeepsie a destination for bike enthusiasts. Vassar College and the city’s south side also make for wonderful bike routes with cute residential streets, historic homes, and lots of trees. We love Poughkeepsie for its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum, from its pristine college campuses to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Poughkeepsie is an exciting place with a unique energy, and an ideal home base for experiencing the rest of the Historic Hudson Valley. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: Gray Street, where the guest house is located, is a residential, tree-lined street in a transitioning neighborhood 5 minutes from Vassar College. The neighborhood is a blend of everything from young entrepreneurs, academics, government workers, tradespeople and low income families. The guest house sits across from Forbus Butternut Park, a 1-acre greenspace overseen by a local non-profit. There is a church on the other side of the park, and the Poughkeepsie High School and football field is about 2 blocks away. During the day, kids sometimes play in the street, but for the most part it's very quiet since Gray Street isn’t a major thoroughfare. AROUND THE REGION: Because Poughkeepsie is centrally located, it makes for a great jumping off point to explore the rest of the Hudson Valley region. Towns like Beacon, New Paltz, Rosendale, Millbrook, Hyde Park and Rhinebeck are all within an easy drive with lots of things to see along the way. Hudson, The Catskills, Cold Spring, Phoenicia and the Berkshires all make for wonderful day trips – full of meandering country drives, antiquing, hiking, fishing, wine-tasting, museum-hopping, or cooling off in a swimming hole. I run a blog that’s dedicated to travel, food and culture in the region called An Upstate of Mind, and I’m happy to send along recommendations for our favorite spots tailored around whatever you like to do. The surrounding Upstate NY towns are lovely, but to make for a full day, it’s sometimes good to combine a few destinations into a “mini road trip” that lets you soak in the local flavor and experience the sprawling natural settings the Hudson Valley is known for.
  • The Artist Guest House Apartment was as stunning in person as it was in the pictures. The home is beautifully curated, as was our stay, thanks to Seth's wonderful recommendations and great blog site. It was exactly the type of weekend escape we needed to reset before returning to the city.

    Brenda & Chris2015-02-16T00:00:00Z
  • Loved this place! Seth keeps the home extremely tidy and comfortable. We were able to easily cook as all the utensils were available. Seth has impeccable taste, felt inspired in the design of the home. Would 100% recommended this humble abode in Poughkeepsie.

    Kyla2016-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was a great host and the house was lovely! Very charming and lovely and he gave us plenty of great recommendations of things to do around the area. Would definitely come back!

    Joan2014-04-28T00:00:00Z
  • Our stay at Seth's Guest House Apartment was absolutely wonderful. We were there for a month, helping with a new grandson, and we just loved the apartment. Seth was a fabulous host, doing everything to make our visit comfortable. The apartment is charming, spotless, tidy and beautifully decorated. It is superbly equipped and it quickly felt like home. We loved that we could walk to parks, restaurants, shopping, a supermarket, and could easily bike to fabulous bike trails and the Walkway Over the Hudson. We hope to return, and would recommend this unit to anyone who asks.

    Henry2014-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • Seth certainly deserves the very high rating given to him by other guests. He did everything in his power to make us welcome. The place is beautiful, and Seth's attention to detail in providing everything we needed was brilliant.

    Jenny2016-12-18T00:00:00Z
  • I attended an introductory sommelier examination with a coworker at the Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park. Seth's place was perfect since it offered a room with a nice bed for my girlfriend and I, as well as a separate living room with a pull-out couch for my coworker. The place was only five minutes drive from CIA and had a great kitchen that we out to use the second night of the stay. The house is also a great example of what appears to be a slow urban renaissance in Poughkeepsie. Very well decorated and stocked.

    Benjamin2014-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful, recently updated apartment with mid-century modern influences that add to the old-time charm of upstate NY. Seth provided detailed descriptions of the surrounding areas including dining, hiking, entertainment, antiques, and general noteworthy things to do for any occasion — and all with the personal touch of someone who has lived there the past decade! Anyone looking to truly enjoy this area without any over-the-top tourism involved; I highly suggest staying here as you will not only experience a gracious host, but also experience the true beauty of the area, its history, and its occupants.

    Paula2017-11-05T00:00:00Z
  • Though we never saw Seth he was a great host and provided all kinds of information for us about the surrounding area. The house would be more welcoming if the windows opened to let fresh air in. It is an older place in an area that is gentrifying. It was OK for our purpose of visiting our granddaughter in Poughkeepsie.

Built over 100 years ago as a chicken hatchery, this gorgeous little gem has been fully restored as a two-story guest cottage. Located in New Paltz just minutes off Exit 18 on I-87 in a very private, quiet, country setting. Only ten minutes from New Paltz Village & SUNY New Paltz and set back on a lightly traveled road for those long summer strolls. You don't even need a car to get here! It's just 12 minutes by taxi from the New Paltz Bus Station or bring your bike up and cycle everywhere!
The Little Yellow Cottage displays much of it's original construction including post and beam, stained glass in the cupola (even an original stained glass portrait of Abraham Lincoln!) and a screened in porch for breakfast with a view or just hanging out. Inside you’ll find a spiral staircase and all the 21st century amenities you’d expect, including radiant in-floor heat, AC, TV, wi-fi and laundry in the full kitchen. One queen bed sleeps two on the ground level and one Murphy bed sleeps a single on the lower level. Private picnic table right outside. And the postal code may say Highland, but the Little Yellow Cottage is really in New Paltz!
Check out the funky art hub of New Paltz or SUNY New Paltz just 10 minutes away or climb the Shawanagunk Mountains 15 minutes away. You don’t even need a car! Bring your bike up on the bus or train and take a taxi ($12) to the Little Yellow Cottage. Cycle the 20 minutes into New Paltz or even spend a day on the Hudson Valley Rail Trail also just 20 minutes away. Talk a long walk on a quiet country road and snap a selfie at the tranquil Black Creek just a minute away.
  • Must experience this gem of a retreat!

    Wendy2018-09-02T00:00:00Z
  • The little yellow cottage is just lovely - cosy, stylish, comfortable, quiet. A perfect place to escape and relax. There is everything you need and Justin is a wonderful host, very quick to respond. Highly recommend!

  • Exactly as pictured, tiny house but very tasteful and just what we needed.

  • Great tiny house. Super cute. Can't say enough good things.

    Kathi2018-09-16T00:00:00Z
  • I spent a very peaceful 8 days in this space resting while on a trip to the area for business. It was a welcome reprieve from the local hotels and an astonishing and whimsical space. Justin was attentive and detail-oriented in all communication with me and the space was great. Definitely consider this lovely place when traveling to the area.

    Jon2018-07-05T00:00:00Z
  • The little yellow cottage was super cute and clean. We loved the screened in porch and we love the area!

    Christy2018-08-13T00:00:00Z
  • my boyfriend and I were looking for a weekend away from the city and found Justin's listing. the little yellow cottage was perfect! cozy, secluded and quiet, it was just what we needed. the pictures in the listing were great and the cottage was even better in person. justin provided a great guide in the cottage and gave us some personal recommendations for a quick bite as we were hungry when we arrived. it was really nice to have coffee and breakfast in the screened in porch and we had so many choices of trails and parks all within a 10 to 20 minute drive, which was really great we would highly recommend the little yellow cottage to anyone!

    Jane2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Wonderful place to get away and relax - perfect for a couple or intimate friends. I did a lot of running around the back roads which was safe and offered so much beautiful nature. Lots of extras that made me comfortable and that screened porch was lovely. The bed is very comfortable and has about 6 pillows ❤️❤️

Our place is close to the Poughkeepsie Train Station, restaurants, shops, bars, cafe's, Walkway over the Hudson, Marist College, The Culinary Institute, Vassar Brothers Medical Center, Mid-Hudson Regional, Bardavon Opera House and the Poughkeepsie Waterfront... You’ll love our place because this will truly feel like your home away from home. You'll find a fully furnished, art deco/mid-century modern one bedroom apartment, fully equipped for all of your needs. We welcome everyone!
-Private entrance with keyless passcode entry -1 Bedroom with queen size bed -Spacious living room -Dining room for up to 4 guests -Newly renovated bathroom -Brand new appliances -Verizon Fios TV and Internet -Two off street parking spots -Outdoor patio and BBQ area -Air Conditioning -Fresh towels and linens -Iron -Blow Dryer -Coffee/Tea/Bottled Water
Obviously we enjoy introducing people to our favorite neighborhood spots but lets not take away the fact that your journey to Poughkeepsie is just the gateway to the Hudson Valley. Located within 20 +/- minutes to the Village of New Paltz, Rhinebeck, Beacon, Breakneck Ridge (Hiking), Millbrook and multiple Breweries, Wineries, Distilleries, Orchards and attractions in Historic Hyde Park. No matter the season, no matter the reason, our home is a great place to begin your journey.!

Alles in allem: sehr gut.

    Anne2018-05-12T00:00:00Z
  • They gave me the code and made check in extremely easy. And worked with my time to check in. They also were reachable and made my stay enjoyable. The coffee and snacks were a great plus

    Mahogany2017-09-14T00:00:00Z
  • I loved the location! Very close to the Hudson, and the river walk!

    Berenice2017-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • What a gem this place turned out to be! I have to admit that when I saw the (Hidden by Airbnb) Earth photo of the house I was a little bit concerned that the apartment was not going to be as terrific as it actually is! If you use the satellite view of the neighborhood, just don't pay any attention to it. This is a GREAT place. It was spotless, and everything I could have wanted (and more) was there (including shampoo, conditioner, and TOOTHPASTE! - Who does that these days?) The kitchen is well equipped, and there were even two bottles of water in the fridge and ice cubes in the freezer. The bed was more than comfortable, which was really all I needed for the night. That and high-speed Internet to get some work done. I just wasn't there long enough to take advantage of all the apartment had to offer - full kitchen, HD TV, comfortable couches/lounges, and tasteful, art-deco furnishings and decor. Robert and Regina have also created a lovely outdoor sitting area, unique for this part of town. For someone needing a home-away-from-home this is ideal. There's even off-street parking for a city location! Don't pass this one up!

    Kathryn2017-09-15T00:00:00Z
  • Robert and Regina were fantastic to work with! I needed the space for a photography shoot, and they were so willing to make it everything we needed and worked with me so well. The place was beautiful and very spacious. I would definitely recommend them to anyone staying in the Poughkeepsie area!

    Courtney2017-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • The property was exactly as described and pictured. It was within walking distance to everything we wanted and needed. Great location down town and close to the Walkway Over the Hudson. Our host was quick to communicate and even had the place ready early and let us know that too. Would gladly stay again when in the area.

    Amy2017-09-11T00:00:00Z
  • Rob and Regina were great hosts. They recommended a number of places to check out in the area. The apartment is perfect for one or two people. It's an easy walk from there to parks, restaurants, and the Walkway across the Hudson bridge. A short trip to other cute and historic towns by car or train. I'd definitely stay there again.

This spacious suite is peaceful, & wooded with separate entrance, patio, wifi, full kitchen, bathroom (small shower), queen bed, sleeper sofia, TV (uses fire stick, wifi & blu-ray, no cable) Local (seasonal) sites to see: Walkway over the Hudson, FDR Home & Library (Hyde Park, 14 mi.away), Culinary Institute (11 Mi), Vassar College, Highland Landing Park, Old Kingston (original site of NYS Capital), SUNY New Paltz, Antique stores of NP, Huguenot Village, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Mtn House.
We're unique because we live in a rural setting, yet within a few miles of - Mohonk, apple orchards, vineyards, 5 colleges, The Walkway Over the Hudson, etc. We also are 10 minutes from the train to NYC. *If you come from NYC by train - we offer pickup roundtrip for $10 (please make sure you ask if you need this.)
We fondly call our neighborhood, "the Outback," because we're in the woods. 1. The biggest plus is the peacefulness and we are centrally located near SUNY New Paltz and Vassar Colleges. There are also 2 community colleges nearby as well. 2. We regularly have a family of wild turkeys, deer, and red tailed hawks coming through the yard. Of course the usual chipmunks, ground hogs and squirrels. We even had a huge, beautiful large Owl land right outside the Suite window this past spring.

  • Kit met my fiancée and I as soon as we arrived with a smile and welcoming wave. The house was not hard to find at all. She showed us the room we were staying in and provided directions to the local Rail Trail and the Walkway Over the Hudson. Kit and Mark provided the simple amenities to make for a relaxing evening in without having to worry about the little things like dishes and breakfast. The surrounding area is quiet and serene, great for anyone who needs to get away for a few days. We would highly recommend staying with Kit and Mark, you'll have a great stay

    Michael2017-01-01T00:00:00Z
  • We had a great time staying in Kit's place. Before our trip, I mentioned to Kit in a message that we were interested in apple-picking and wineries. When we arrived, Mark greeted us and remembered what I had said in the message, and gave us excellent recommendations. Kit was also very responsive to our inquiries. The place was clean and as described in the listing. The location is great, just a short drive to New Paltz, apple and pumpkin farms, wineries, and other points of interest.

    Cheryl2016-10-10T00:00:00Z
  • We attended the Catskill Ice Festival (ice climbing) in New Paltz and needed a place to stay for 3 nights. After a long 9 hour drive, we arrived at Kit's BnB and much to my chagrin, the refrigerator/freezer was stocked with food. I was so happy, b/c i was dreading going out, but we were hungry. Kit's BnB was very modest, but homey and comfortable. Everything you need is there...full kitchen, private entrance, bedroom, bathroom, sitting area, dining area, and even a W/D. The property is beautiful and tranquil. Perfect for relaxing in peace and quiet and feeling like you are eons away from the hustle and bustle of real life. :-) We are very grateful we got to stay here and if we attend next year's festival, we will stay here again.

    April2017-01-31T00:00:00Z
  • The place was clean and comfortable. Kit is a great host and the location of the house was convenient to all the places we wanted to explore during our weekend stay.

  • Mark and Kit are wonderful to stay with... They are very thoughtful and check in periodically to make sure everything is going well. All the appliances are up to date and makes the kitchen nice to work in. Would like to come back some day

A snug, rustic getaway only 75 miles from New York City. Our newly renovated barn is near fine restaurants and the banks of the Hudson River. Visit Storm King or the Walkway over the Hudson, go hiking, travel our Craft Beverages, Distilleries and Wine Trail! Take in New Paltz, Hyde Park, Woodstock, Rhinebeck for fun shops, restaurants and history. A truly gracious space with top reviews, we are easy to get to by train or car and Uber is available. Have a wonderful getaway in the Hudson Valley!
I am told again and again that our photos don't reflect the beauty and size of the space. It is quite large and very pretty! We hope you will love the antiques, artwork, and amenities. Fully renovated, it has a large great room, a galley kitchen, a dining area, a lounging/TV area, a sitting and reading corner, and a queen sleeper sofa. The separate bedroom has a queen sized bed and a washer and dryer. There is a deck for lounging, al fresco dining and enjoying the gardens. We supply handmade soaps, fair trade coffee, and Sonoma linens and high speed wifi. We are located in an old Quaker part of the village of Milton. The barn was used for the gardens and greenhouses that were part of the original larger property. There are beautiful gardens all around the house and the river is at the foot of the hill! There is also a lake behind the house and an old Quaker cemetery next door. Very friendly neighbors! However this property is not a farm; it is in an active neighborhood with country life going on. The barn was originally used for the gardens, not farm animals. Since we live on property and have close neighbors we ask that you be respectful if you are returning late at night by being quiet and turning off outside lights. Unfortunately we don't feel that our space is suitable for children under 12.
We are very central to everything the Hudson Valley offers The Poughkeepsie train station is 5 miles away and taxis, Uber, car rental and Zipcars are available from the station. We are within a short driving distance from Vassar, Marist, SUNY New Paltz, and several other colleges and schools. A partial list of attractions and distances: In Milton and Marlborough We are very fortunate to have a world class music and art venue in the neighborhood. Please make sure to drop by THE FALCON for brunch or dinner, drinks, and amazing artwork and music! We also have many fine vineyards in town; you can visit them by following our very own Shawangunk Wine trail Bad Seed Hard Cider Tasting Orchards- Fruit picking Riverfront Park Nearby Another local claim to fame, the Walkway Over the Hudson, is in Highland NY, 4 miles north. It is the highest pedestrian walkway in the world and a breathtaking experience! Make sure to take it in, it is easy to find and has lots of parking. Rail Trail Biking and Hiking-Ulster and Dutchess County Fanny Reese Park- Highland NY. Hiking Minnewaska State Park, Gardiner NY. Hiking and Rock Climbing Poughkeepsie - 4 miles: The Bardovan Theater Shopping and Restaurants the Chance Theater Civic Center Locust Grove Historic home of Samuel Morse The Ranch Skydiving Gardiner NY New Paltz -10 miles Shopping and restaurants Hiking and Climbing the "Gunks" Hyde Park- 12 miles Shopping and Restaurants Franklin D Roosevelt Home Hyde Park- 12 miles Vanderbilt Mansion Hyde Park -13 mile Storm King Art Center Cornwall NY, 20 miles West Point Military Academy Tours and Museum- 24 miles Beacon NY- 14 miles Galleries and restaurants DIA Art Foundation Colleges Marist 7 miles Culinary Institute 9 miles (several restaurants on site, reservations required) Vassar- 9 miles Mount Saint Mary 11 miles SUNY New Paltz 11 miles Kingston is 15 miles away and there are just too many attractions to list but I will mention the Rondout waterfront is amazing and you can rent kayaks there at A Day Away Kayak Rentals. Amazing restaurants and Maritime museum, lighthouse tours, etc!
  • Jennie is a gracious host and staying at her place made traveling extra special. My 2 friends and I enjoyed the clean, charming property and Jennie's knowledge of the local scene led us to the perfect evening venue. Many thanks Jennie!

  • I was attending a wedding at Buttermilk Inn which is about a mile away from Jennie’s place so the location could not be more perfect. I could have easily walked if the weather had permitted it. I was originally supposed to stay with a friend but ended up staying by myself - I was sad when I walked in to the house because it was wat too cute to not share the experience with someone!! It’s such a romantic little guesthouse(you get a whole house just for you). Bed is comfortable and you just see the garden and hear birds outside the windows. It was just lovely. The only thing I wanted to note(not as an issue for me but possibly for other guests) is that the shower booth is quite small - if you have a bigger build, you should still be fine to take showers but you might feel a little squeezed with not too much room to move around. I’m sure not many would do this in the area but I didn’t rent a car so I resorted to rideshare; be advised cars take quite a while to come to you since they usually come all the way from Poughkeepsie station area(about 15 min away). The evening I arrived Jennie had some free time so she even offered me a ride to the wedding venue which I appreciated so so much!!! Oh and of course I left my jacket hanging in the closet(I realized once I was on the train back to the city) so I had to inconvenience her again but she so kindly took it all the way over to Buttermilk for my friend to bring to me. Sorry again.... all in all I recommend staying at Jennie’s if you can! Bring your significant other or a friend or a family member and sit around talking in the cute living room she has set up ! Thank you for everything Jennie :)

A: The house is about 20-minutes driving from the Beacon train station. If you choose not to drive the whole way there are Zipcar pickups at the train station (reserve in advance!) and Uber/LYFT launched in the area ($20-$30 for the ride from the train). A car is highly recommended (especially if you want to explore the area), but this definitely makes things possible for the car-free—just be sure to show up with everything you need for the stay as the farm is in a semi-rural area that is not particularly walkable. Q: Do I need to bring towels or linens? What about a hairdryer? A: Nope! I provide all these things. Including Keihls + Glossier body products Q: How will I receive the key? A: The house features a keyless lockbox that has a one time code Q: Is the place professionally cleaned between guests? A: Yes, and I take pride in providing a clean home for guests. Q: What's up with the cleaning fee? A: I get a lot of questions about this, so I'll just break it down so you understand why it is what it is: All of (except10$) that goes directly to my cleaner. She is a professional who does an exceptional job and who I insist on compensating fairly for her work. A: No. One last thing: I really, really appreciate that you followed directions and read the whole thing. Please put the phrase "I see Moonshadows!" at the top of your message so I know you did so as such bookings tend to go so much smoother! And thanks for hanging in there!
Vineyards, Orchards, and wine trails and nature. The tiny house is situated on a 30-acre farm in the rolling hills of the Hudson Valley. Guests have total privacy but are joined on the farm by the main farm house, a smaller residence with live-in caretakers that can help out in case of an emergency, and one other tiny house. Around the farm are views of rolling vineyards and apple orchards— we are on the Shawangunk wine trail and literally minutes away from Bad Seed orchards and other cider houses. Downtown Main St. is minutes away and has a few lovely nightlife and dining options, and the hopping town of Beacon (home of the Dia; Beacon) is about 20 minutes away. Storm King Art Center (a must) is also about 25 minutes away. Also nearby are Woodstock, Hudson, Kingston, New Paltz, Cold Spring Poughkeepsie, and countless other Hudson Valley destinations.

  • What an experience! As a designer, I really appreciated all of the thoughtfulness that has gone into Troy's home decor and arrangement. But moreover, Troy's heart and enthusiasm to share his home and love for Norwegian culture was beautiful to bear witness, and we were grateful to receive. His love for food, beautiful design, and entertaining is genuine and very welcoming. We would definitely stay with him again, and I have already recommended that our parents come in the fall for a visit.

    Michael2016-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • My stay was an overwhelming experience of friendship, love , inspiration and beauty. Troy is on a mission with amazing hosting abilities that exceeds the norm: his welcome exuberates authentic human warmth, the place is super clean and cozy with fireplace and friendly dogs. He serves his meals with a vision of highest culinary standards including specialty cheese, heartshaped waffles and home-made lox. He is witty, creative and funny and extremely caring. Thank you Troy for a spectaculour stay. I want to move in!

    Nathalie2015-04-20T00:00:00Z
  • Troy was a fabulous host. He welcomed me and his other guests like family, shared wonderful stories with us of his experiences in Norway and Denmark, and gave spot-on recommendations for places in the area to visit and to eat out. The accommodations were very comfortable (I slept better than at home!) and very Scandinavian in flair, as was the delicious and bountiful breakfast. I hope to return!!

    Carolyn2017-06-10T00:00:00Z
  • Highly suggest staying with Troy! He is flexible and wants you to enjoy your time in Hyde Park and the surrounding area.

    Hannah2017-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • Troy's home was like home away from home. Comfortable, warm, great beds and breakfast. Will definitely return!

    Bette2016-10-16T00:00:00Z
  • Second stay. Highly recommend! Will come back again. Troy is an exceptional host and it's always delicious!

    Ed2017-04-30T00:00:00Z
  • I was so happy to return to Troy's house in Hyde Park. Unfortunately, it was for only 1 night this time around, but I'll be back soon--it's more than worth a few days' stay. You'll never find an Airbnb with this level of hospitality, comfort, or friendliness. From the gorgeous decor to the expansive and decadent breakfast to the immaculate accommodations, you truly cannot beat this place.

    Chuck2018-07-15T00:00:00Z
  • I visited Troy's place while visiting my old school, the CIA. Its 10 minute ride and best option available near by. His organic gardening was impressive and beautiful addition to coziness of his place. I missed opportunity of having a barbeque, but i will come back to that next time I visit CIA. For everyone staying, i recommend to have the breakfast, otherwise they'd miss half of what he is offering.

My warm & inviting ranch home has a true homey feeling. Just mins to Culinary Institute of America and Marist College; perfect for parents attending graduations or orientations , FDR Presidential Library, Vanderbilt Mansion and Walkway over the Hudson all within mins away.
This beautiful newly renovated ranch has 2 bedrooms and a good size bathroom with laundry unit; fully equipped kitchen with outdoor fenced in patio. There's a 2 good size sofas for guests in the living room to hang out and watch the ball games. There is a dining table will seat 4 people and 2 extra bar stools with island in the kitchen.
This neighborhood was built 1950s; its literally 3 mins from FDR Presidential Library by car. 6 mins from Vanderbilt Mansion, Culinary Institution of America about 3 mins drive and that makes this house so appealing
  • Cynthia's home is beautiful, clean, and comfortable. Everything was very well-prepared in advance of my arrival, including complimentary snacks and juice. Both bedrooms are lovely and have very comfortable beds. I was in town for a conference and this was the perfect place to stay, as it was very nearby and Cynthia made sure everything I needed was available. Would recommend this to anyone staying in the Hyde Park area.

    Griffin2016-06-16T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia was very welcoming and the house is exactly as advertised. Nice, new and very clean. She went over and beyond and provided water and snacks. It's a great location.

    Ashley2016-07-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's place was so comfortable, very clean, and well appointed with snacks, waters, soda, coffee, even microwave popcorn! The neighborhood was quiet and in a very convenient location, with a supermarket and Dunkin Donuts right nearby. Communication was great. I look forward to staying here again. Highly recommend.

    Lisa2017-10-22T00:00:00Z
  • Place was great, however had a few bumps in communication, for one night the space was smaller than we thought for the price, but owners were able to speak and work with us.

    Maggie2018-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's place is located ideally to great historical sites and parks. We enjoyed our walk across the Hudson. Her home is extremely neat and clean. Nice large kitchen for our family Thanksgiving. Bathroom was well stocked and beds were very comfortable. Would stay here again and would definitely recommend.

    Janine2017-11-25T00:00:00Z
  • Cynthia's place lived up to its excellent reviews and was very much as advertised. We didn't meet her in person but she was a perfect host by remote control. She responded to messages instantly and checked in to make sure everything was going well. Her house is in an ordinary, quiet suburban development, pleasant enough and conveniently located. The FDR estate is just across the road, and there's a craft brewery pub just up the road and a drive-in movie theater just past that. Inside, everything is comfortable, very new, and exceptionally clean. I've never stayed anywhere that was so well stocked with little packaged things--everything from toiletries to Keurig coffee and popcorn. This reinforced the impression that Cynthia was really dedicated to making us feel welcome and well cared for.

    Jonathan2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • had a great time at Cynthia's place

    Sven2016-11-27T00:00:00Z
  • Great place to stay in Hyde Park! Super clean, comfortable, and close to the main attractions. She had water, snacks, toiletries available, which made the stay extra nice. She quickly responded to emails too. We will definitely stay there again.

  • This was our first experience of Airbnb and we are now complete converts! We couldn’t have chosen a more amazing space. Jim really has thought of everything and has finished his property to a very high standard. He has made excellent use of the available space and with the added touches of the pull out TV and AC made our stay perfect. The view was spectacular, with a wall of windows facing the river, along with an amazing deck to sit and listen to the noise of riverlife and see boats, birds and fish jumping. We did not make use of the blinds as we preferred to let the view shine into the space day and night. The photos of the place are accurate but so much better in real life plus it was spotlessly clean. Thank you Jim for welcoming us, and we look forward to returning. Lesley and Dennis.

    Lesley2018-08-27T00:00:00Z
  • Jim’s place was exactly as pictured. Impeccably clean, convenient and a pleasure to come home to. The train sounds in the area and The boats going by only added to the ambience. Would love to go back.

    Karen2018-08-16T00:00:00Z
  • Really great spot. The space has a great view of the river and is very cozy. Jim was also a super nice guy.

    Jason2018-07-29T00:00:00Z
  • Simple, clean and beautiful. Jim is an attentive and very helpful host. The views from the small deck are wonderful. There are trains behind the house, but they don't go by often (especially at night) and they really didn't bother us. All in all an outstanding choice. Thanks Jim!

    Tom2018-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • The layout on Jim's place is amazing! Everything looks out large glass windows onto the Hudson River. Beautiful. The place as well stocked. Bathroom basics like shampoo conditioner and soap. The kitchen was fully stocked with pots plans and flatware. The gas grill outside means you can eat on the wraparound deck! Bed was very comfortable and white crisp sheets were great to sleep in. The TV is even mounted so you can pull the TV out to watch it in bed :) If you are a light sleeper, this place might not be right for you -- the train will go by at night or early in the morning. We were fine after closing the windows. The light is also amazing -- remember to put down shades/ do AC accordingly. Jim was communicative and helpful. We loved his place and would stay here for the comfortable cottage and the AMAZING view!

    Philip2018-06-26T00:00:00Z
  • Jim's place is amazing. The space was modern and perfectly clean and the bed was very comfortable. Huge windows show off a beautiful view of the Hudson River, and there's a deck (with a grill!) to get even closer to the water. The TV swivels so you can watch from the bed or the chairs in the living room area. Jim also included thoughtful extras, like shampoo, conditioner and body wash in the shower and bottles of water in the fridge. We didn't really use the kitchen during our stay, but there is a full kitchen! Jim's communication was prompt and helpful, he gave us lots of recommendations of places to go in the area, and the check-in process was very easy. Would definitely stay here again!!

    Beth2018-07-31T00:00:00Z
  • The cottage in Hyde Park is a hidden gem! The space is beautiful, clean and could not be in a better location. Waking up to the views of the Hudson was a dream! Jim responded quickly to my messages and was on site to welcome me and help me settle in. I can’t wait to get back up there to relax and unwind in this wonderful home.

    Anna2018-07-04T00:00:00Z
  • Wow. Jim’s cottage was absolutely perfect. This quiet and quaint escape right on the Hudson River is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy truly spectacular views and amenities. After staying in several Airbnb’s, I can say that Jim’s place hits all the notes you need it to and more. The thoughtful touches add to the experience, including tips and suggestions from Jim on local attractions, menus from some favorite local eateries, a truly amazing mattress, bottled waters in the fridge and coffee and tea K-Cups as well as a full kitchen and grill on the porch. The cottage is so clean and well designed, with lovely fixtures and a truly amazing shower. It really has a boutique hotel feel, but with views and privacy that can’t be beat. There is a little train noise, but being from NYC, it didn’t bother us a bit and we hardly noticed it. In fact, I might say it added to the experience, along with the noises from the river as well. Jim is so welcoming and lovely. He was quite responsive leading up to the trip, sending personalized suggestions, and even stopping by on the morning of our departure to ask if we enjoyed our stay and if there was anything that would have added to it. I can’t truly say there wasn’t. It was perfect. You can tell Jim takes pride in this place, and it’s the sort of special spot you want to return to again and again. In fact we are already looking at the 2019 calendar. Can’t say enough good things about this place, it’s a must book.

Our place is all about comfort and convenience! It is under 5 mins from the NYS Thruway and not far from public transport. Close to nature, Minnewaska State Park, Mohonk Preserve, rock climbing, skydiving, Walkway Over the Hudson, Rail Trails and much more. Located less than 10 mins. from the fun and friendly village of New Paltz and in the heart of the amazing Hudson Valley full of activities, farms, restaurants and bars. The house is great for couples, solo adventurers and business travelers.
Our charming farmhouse is set on approximately one acre. The back of the property is forest, with many beautiful old trees around. There has been several exciting wildlife sightings, like foxes, bald eagles, turtles and more! The house is spacious, clean and welcoming. It is never a full time residence so it is not cluttered with daily living items. When you walk into the house you enter the well-stocked, eat-in kitchen (which guests have complete but shared access to). Up the stairs and to the right you will find a beautifully and thoughtfully prepared master bedroom with natural light, views of gorgeous trees and amenities including a Sealy Posturpedic King Size bed, high quality bedding, room darkening shades, TV with streaming capabilities (BYOL--bring your own login-info), a window unit air conditioner (during the summer months), a free-standing fan and an empty dresser and closets for your use. Attached to the bedroom is the master bathroom that will be private to our guests. Both the bedroom and bathroom is private and lockable for the duration of your visit.
The house is situated in a mixed use area, which makes for many great conveniences. Very close by there is a mini-market with a deli, a liquor store, a diner, a gas station and a great Mexican Restaurant. Down the road there's some classic Hudson Valley farmland with an orchard that has a great local farm store, has hard cider tastings and has gourmet wood fired pizzas overlooking the awesome orchard landscape during the warmer months. The house is backed by forest and the yard has several beautiful old trees. A few things to note about the nearest neighboring properties. Since the area is mixed use, there are residential homes, as well as a small water treatment facility, a garden nursery and a backyard firewood business next door. We have rarely experienced issues relating to these neighboring properties. It’s just kind of a unique neighborhood. Please reach out to us if you have any questions.
  • The home was clean and quiet charming in a quiet yet centrally located area . Liz was a great host and I definitely look to stay here again on my next trip to see my family.

    Michael2017-08-28T00:00:00Z
  • I didn’t get to truly met my hosts, only in passing. But they were really kind. The place is really clean and the bed is massive. Kind of spooky at night because it’s in the middle of no where and the house makes creepy noise but I spook really easily. Otherwise it was a great stay.

    Kaitlyn2018-03-30T00:00:00Z
  • PLACE IS SPOTLESSLY CLEAN, BED VERY COMFORTABLE. QUIET AT NIGHT, YET VERY CONVENIENT TO TOWN. A WINNER!

    Marshall2018-09-04T00:00:00Z
  • Had an absolutely splendid time staying at Liz's place! The location was top notch, as was the house itself. The bedroom was cozy and had everything to our liking. I unfortunately forgot my towel which I was so happy that she graciously provided for her guests! We ended up checking out the Pizza & Brewery place as well on her recommended list, and it turned out to be amazing! Thank you again for the quick responses and great hospitality!

  • This room was perfect for my weekend stay in New Paltz. It's barely 5 minutes from the main street of New Paltz by car and very close to the Thruway. Liz's place looks exactly like the photos. The room is spacious and clean and the bathroom was huge. It actually has 2 sinks. The check in went well, everything is exactly where the description said it was. There is also ample free parking. I was in the house by myself and everything went very smooth. Liz was very prompt in responding to messages and questions. I would stay again!

    Jo-Ann2018-07-08T00:00:00Z
  • If you are here on a weekend, you'll likely have the place mostly to yourself! This is a great room, plenty of space, and plenty of parking. It is quite close to everything, and just a few minutes away from the Gunks climbing area. Highly recommend!

Relax in a tastefully-appointed early 1900s Craftsman home. Beautiful natural light with views overlooking College Hill Park. An easy drive to Beacon, Rhinebeck, Millbrook, New Paltz, Hudson and the Catskills. A short walk to The Walkway Over the Hudson & Dutchess County Rail Trail.
A welcoming turn of the century Craftsman home located at the end of a small private street overlooking Poughkeepsie's largest green space, College Hill Park (once the grounds of a women's college). Guest Rooms 1 & 2 on the second floor feature one queen-sized bed and one full-sized bed respectively. Included with your stay: - Bedding, towels and additional linens - Wireless high-speed internet - TV (Cable & Apple TV) - Dishwasher - Microwave - Gas stove & oven - Refrigerator & freezer - Outdoor gas grill - Cooking utensils, mixing bowls, pots & pans - Dishes, eating utensils, etc. - Coffee maker (drip) - Coffee, coffee filters & tea - Hairdryer - Air conditioning
POUGHKEEPSIE: What we love about Poughkeepsie is its diversity – its people, its culture – and the way it encompasses the full socio-economic spectrum – from the pristine campus at Vassar to the developing commercial zone and restaurant scene in the historic main street corridor. Home to 4 colleges (Vassar, Marist, Dutchess Community & The Culinary Institute of America in Hyde Park), Poughkeepsie is both a college town and a city in transition with a diverse blue collar urban community. With close proximity to restaurants and cultural destinations, Poughkeepsie allows you to experience the conveniences of “small city” life while only being a 10 minute drive from the country. THE NEIGHBORHOOD: The house is located on a quiet dead end street overlooking College Hill Park, Poughkeepsie’s largest greenspace. There are only 6 houses on the street and all the neighbors know each other. It’s a family-friendly, chill environment. We’re a block away from the Dutchess County Rail Trail, leading to the Walkway Over the Hudson (about a 10 minute walk). Reservoir Street is part of a blue collar and light commercial neighborhood. Because of its proximity to the park, the area around the house is quiet and even slightly secluded feeling since the rolling landscape blocks out the activity from the central part of the city.
  • Seth has a cozy and lovely spot in Poughkeepsie. Six of us left the city for a relaxing weekend, and had such a pleasant time. Seth provided us with recommendations, directions, and all sorts of accommodating suggestions. Great house, great host.

    Liz2014-01-21T00:00:00Z
  • This is a beautifully appointed house on a quiet street in a fairly safe portion of Poughkeepsie near the Hyde Park line. Very communicative host and a good launching pad for those exploring the Hudson River Valley or visiting Vassar, Marist, or the Culinary Institute.

    Heather2017-07-01T00:00:00Z
  • Beautiful house, fantastic host. A group of 5 of us spent our New Year's Eve/Day in Poughkeepsie just to escape the NYC madness. Seth called about a week prior to our stay confirm that we were all set and to answer any questions regarding Poughkeepsie and our stay. I have to say, the house is incredible. We spent our first hour there exploring, looking at paintings and examining antiques. Every time you walk through a room you discover something new and interesting. The kitchen was perfect for cooking, the bedrooms cozy and comfortable and the entire place was extremely clean. Our only disappointment was that we weren't able to have breakfast on the adorable front porch because it was 15 degrees out! :-) Seth's place is also just a short distance from the train station and the downtown area and other local attractions. High recommend a stay here!

    Ray2014-01-02T00:00:00Z
  • This was a wonderful AirBnB! We were here for a wedding and found this to be a perfect spot to relax with old friends and get ready for the event at Vassar College. It was even more lovely than the photos can show. While it was an incredibly hot weekend, there were air conditioners throughout the house. Seth was easy to get in touch with and replied quickly. We'd definitely recommend this spot.

    Laura2016-08-08T00:00:00Z
  • Seth was in every way an extraordinary host. This house is a true gem in a yet-to-be gentrified part of Poughkeepsie, NY. The house is beautifully decorated with an eclectic mix 20th century classics, carefully curated artwork and original posters. There are also a some fascinating antique machines on display. We're a couple who really appreciate good taste when we see it and Seth's home is truly enchanting. We'd definitely stay again when in the area.

    Ole2018-07-19T00:00:00Z
  • Seth's place was comfortable and well-appointed. The house has all you need and is furnished with interesting art and artifacts. We enjoyed our stay and used Seth's recommendations for local attractions and services. Easy access, good communication, smooth stay.

    Ellen2017-05-07T00:00:00Z
  • This a very cute home full of interesting artwork and antiques. The home was clean and as advertised. Having breakfast in the front veranda area was a highlight in the mornings! Seth left very detailed instructions and explanations about the house, which itself was well stocked with all the essentials. Seth was very helpful in describing the middle Hudson Valley region and places to visit and good places to eat. Definitely recommend!

    Antonio2017-07-07T00:00:00Z
  • I very much enjoyed our stay. Me and my spent most of the time on Vassar's campus but the house was close enough to get back and forth quickly and very cozy. Seth was in touch and provided very detail instructions about the house and great recommendations for restaurants and things to do.

  • My experience at Nna's carriage house, from start to finish, was absolutely perfect. Not only did his boyfriend kindly pick me up from the train station, they gave me a bottle of wine & had fresh flowers as a warm welcome! The home itself is just heavenly, a clean, spacious, beautiful retreat for anyone looking for a peaceful getaway. It had all the accommodations one could ask for! Nna & Billiam are beyond wonderful, and I couldn't have hoped for a better stay!

    Sidrah2016-05-25T00:00:00Z
  • Billiam and Nna were both totally lovely and their house was beautiful. It's very convenient to New Paltz, walking distance from a beautiful German restaurant with views of the Gunks, and really cozy. Only thing to know ahead of time is that it's not isolated in the woods - you have close neighbors. But it's a very quiet block, and the location is close to hikes and it's charming. Highly recommend!

  • Nna and Billiam's cottage was the most lovely experience I ever had on AirBnb. We arrived earlier than scheduled but they managed to meet us in time. The 2-story house is roomy and looks bigger than on the pictures. There are many lovely little vintage decor in the room. Full of surprises. The surrounding is extremely safe, quiet and beautiful. We are welcomed to park on the premise. The house is close to FDR museum, Vanderbilt Mansion and the Hyde Park. It is a great place for retreat!

  • Could not have had a better stay. This unique and adorable place is a home away from home. The house is charming, safe, quiet; our hosts were incredible resources. They know the neighborhood well and made sure we knew all the best places to hike, eat, shop. After a nice long walk in the nearby apple orchard, they provided a super delicious breakfast with their own hens' eggs! I can't wait to visit again. A great weekend retreat.

  • The carriage house was perfect. Well appointed, comfortable, quiet, private, and a short 5 minutes stroll to the farm. Thanks for your wonderful hospitality!

  • Nna and his boyfriend welcomed my friend and me with warm smiles and graciously gave us a tour of the charming cottage. The weather was not quite as welcoming as Nna & William so we ended up spending the entire time at the cottage. There were lovely hot water bottles to "help take the chill off". We felt very at home in the spacious cottage. It has a lovely decor and is very clean. The kitchen is well stocked with all necessities as well as the bathroom. There is also, a handy information booklet with local information, wifi code, etc. This was my first stay with Airbnb and I couldn't have been happier!!! I'd like to personally thank Nna for being so flexible and accommodating our time frames. Thank you kindly for a great first time experience!

    Rita2016-05-05T00:00:00Z
  • Nna was a great host! I was in need of a quiet getaway from the city and this place was a perfect choice. Quiet, neat and so perfectly put together. Nna was so kind to offer suggestions of towns and sights to see and great restaurants nearby. It truly was a the perfect getaway. Thanks, Nna!

  • The room was very nice. It was clean and bright, as described. There were a lot of other guests at the time we were there, so waiting in the morning for the shared bathroom wasn't the greatest. The bed was a bit squeaky, if you know what I mean ;)

  • Ray and Irene are the kindest and most hospitable hosts I have ever met. My girlfriend, pup and I decided to head north from the big city to get some peace and quiet. We took the train, due to not owning a vehicle. Ray and Irene went so far as to ask us how we were getting to their spot, in which they offered to pick us up and give us a ride. They were so kind as to even show us some of the best local attractions and give us tips on the way to the location. They were extremely helpful, kind, and offered to let us know if they needed anything. Once we got into the barn, it was spectacular. The space is one of a kind, with all kinds of personality and stylish touches. They even had a hand-written welcome sign paired with a dog bed and bone ready for our pup. They supplied us with wine, breakfast, snacks and even farm-fresh eggs that were laid that very morning. We could not have asked for more. It was an extremely calm, peaceful and relaxing weekend. We will definitely be booking with Ray and Irene again to experience the location in various seasons. It is simply a beautiful piece of land. We can't wait!

    Nic2018-01-15T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Irene did an exceptional job of making us feel welcome. There was a welcome basket with all the fixings for breakfast, including fresh eggs from their chickens. The barn was delightful, with attention to every detail. It was a perfect home base for our Hudson Valley adventures. We highly recommend Ray and Irene and the Red Barn to anyone looking for a cozy home away from home.

    Susan2018-04-12T00:00:00Z
  • This is hands down one of the best places we have ever stayed. Ray and Irene went over and beyond any expectations we had. So many personal touches it's hard to name them all. It's hard to find a place to keep kids happy for more than a day or two(from fishing, playing in the soaker pool, so much yard & the list goes on.) Even our pup felt right at home. We could go on and on but simply put this place is AWESOME! Super relaxing place to stay away from it all. We will definitely be staying there in the future! Thanks again so much for your hospitality and perfect stay! Ps.... Our kids already wanna come back!

    Scott2018-06-25T00:00:00Z
  • Ray and Irene are very special people with a special property and the barn is charming and cozy. We enjoyed our stay at the little red barn and will be back to stay in the future!

  • The place is truly one of a kind. If you love old barns with modern conveniences, this place is it. Your hosts are great to deal with and truly have a made the Red Barn a very special place...relaxing and so comfy. It exceed our expectations...they have thought of everything you could need to make a very enjoyable getaway out in the country. Kitchen is well equipped. Beds are so comfortable with lovely linens. Bathroom is big and spacious with toiletries, hairdryer and a great big whirlpool tub. Plenty of space to kick back and relax both inside the barn and out. Lovely patio area with soaking pool and fire pit on beautiful grounds that face the marsh. You truly can't go wrong with this place, exactly as pictured in Airbnb and more.

The property is beautiful and is a wonderful place if you're looking for a nature walk and scenic roads. The pond is a great addition. It would have been nice to have a stove to cook food, but there was a microwave and Doris provided us with many lovely snacks including home-made muffins. It is a quiet, peaceful area with stores and diners that are around 7 minute drive away. Definitely would recommend. Did I mention how lovely our host Doris was?(:

We will be sure to stay here on future visits to the Hudson Valley.

  • My stay with Loraine and her amazing family was perfect! Gracious, thoughtful, welcoming, warm and genuine!! Impeccably neat and clean -and so well appointed and cozy-I felt at home immediately! Also- my flight arrived quite late-she was sure to welcome me with her true kindness and a beautiful smile. It being my first stay with an Airbnb host -therefore not knowing exactly what to expect -I hoped for a good experience. That being said-Loraine I believe has raised the bar for all other hosts. I can't imagine having had a happier experience. I was visiting Poughkeepsie for the first time to see my son at college-not only did Loraine and her family welcome me -but extended their home and hearts to him as well !! Both he and I felt so blessed . Thank you Loraine and Paul -I arrived as a guest and left as a friend!! So looking forward to my next trip up :)))

  • Great place, great location. The bottle of wine Van generously left for me was a great touch. The place was very clean and comfortable. Only negative was that I could hear every movement the tenants upstairs made.

    Claire2017-01-05T00:00:00Z
  • Sono stata in casa di Van per 15 giorni e mi sono sempre sentita a mio agio. Gli spazi sono piccoli ma confortevoli. Come si può leggere anche in altri commenti, il materasso non è il massimo. In generale sono stata molto bene.

    Giulia2018-06-13T00:00:00Z
  • Van had good instructions for accessing the unit, and had a bottle of wine ready for my visit. I was catching the train the next day so the location was great.

    Jonathan2018-04-23T00:00:00Z
  • Very comfortable and neat

    keshiki2016-08-06T00:00:00Z
  • Van was super accommodating . He allowed me into my room early, so I could drop my bags. The room and house were clean, and there was a bottle of wine and snacks in the room. The location is an easy walk from the train station. The only downside to my experience, I'm sorry to say, was that the bed was terrible: a cheap, creaky spring bed frame and a thin floppy mattress. It made for a very long and fitful night. If the bed were brought up to standard, I would recommend without reservation.

  • AMAZING EXPERIENCE. they were the nicest hosts I have ever had. The house is very clean. The bedroom was super comfortable, with many pillows. Location was great, and there was private off street parking which was super convenient. I plan om staying here again when I am in the area.

  • The place to stay in Poughkeepsie! Neelam’s place was very clean and cozy and felt very homey. Neelam and her husband were very hospitable and friendly and made our stay so nice! They made delicious breakfast in the morning when we woke up and brought us water for the night to our room. I couldn’t ask for anything more from a very nice couple!

    Polina2018-09-13T00:00:00Z
  • Great spot in Poughkeepsie, just two mins away from the walking bridge and two more from the train station. Very lovely and welcoming hosts.

    Elianne2018-09-24T00:00:00Z
  • Unfortunately, we did not get to meet these hosts during our stay. We checked-in via lockbox. Figuring out lights and instructions was a bit confusing at first, but no real issues. We told the hosts we needed to leave early, which apparently caused confusion over the breakfast that was supposed to be included, so we never got that. We did access the Walk Over the Hudson a few blocks away from the house, but did not see much else around to visit.

    Meagan2018-10-08T00:00:00Z
  • So close to the walk over the Hudson, nice restaurant nearby. Hosts were friendly and very helpful concerning my questions about the area and the places I planned to visit .

    Karen2018-08-30T00:00:00Z
  • this was a great location to stay at. the walkway is an amazing experience. the food at every restaurant was excellent. be weary at night. be cautious. everything closes early.

  • Seth was incredibly helpful from our first exchange. The place was awesome!! I'd stay there again!

    Daryl2016-07-17T00:00:00Z
  • We (5 girls) stayed at the Poet guest house for 2 nights for a weekend trip. The house is cozy, clean and pretty as it looks in the photos. Seth was very responsive, and gave us lots of helpful information. We used his super comprehensive and thoughtful email throughout our trip to pick where to eat, where to go, etc. - it had all the answers! As Seth made clear, you probably want a car for the trip - there didn't seem to be much within walking distance of the house, but it is a great basecamp to explore upstate NY.

  • The interior design of the apartment is amazing, and it's equipped with everything one would need for a comfortable stay. The apartment is conveniently located in a residential neighborhood in town, and it was very easy to navigate to the surrounding areas. Prior to our arrival, the host provided a list of helpful and informative suggestions for things to do. Overall, it was a wonderful experience and I would highly recommend it to anyone.

  • First: Seth is an excellent host. Knowledgeable, passionate about the area and eager to share. Second: The place is really a gem. Clean, spacious organized. Everything that you'd wan't in a place.

  • Debbie and David were very welcoming, and accommodating despite our delayed arrival due to heavy traffic on a Friday evening! David also gave us some great food recommendations for the weekend, which did not disappoint. Their home is on a lovely property (you can fall asleep to the peaceful sounds of nature) and we stayed for 2 nights in a comfortable room. We definitely enjoyed our trip - especially with their wonderful dogs, Tequila and Guinness!

  • We stayed at Deborah’s on our road trip from New York to Montreal. Deborah was a thoughtful host, communicative and hospitable, and the bedroom was incredibly comfortable, stocked with water and morning coffee. The house is well located, near Wappington Falls services and the NY Thruway. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend or return!

    Joe2018-05-21T00:00:00Z
  • This was my first experience using Airbnb and I am so grateful that Deborah was the hostess. Everything about the stay was awesome. Unfortunately, my wife and I were only able to stay for one quick over night. We loved the room, the privacy, and those adorable dogs! Hopefully next trip out that we can stay at this location.

  • Deborah was very nice and her welcoming family made me feel comfortable. It was a little warm in the house but I only stayed one night, I thought the bed was very comfortable and I slept great. The room was nice and clean, carpet and paint was like new, very good for the price! I would stay here again!

    Sampson2018-05-27T00:00:00Z
  • Deborah is a wonderful host. She and her family are very kind and her home is immaculate. everything you could possibly need and more is available

    George2018-08-15T00:00:00Z
  • Debbie was quick to accept our reservation request and her communication was fast and helpful. Check in was so easy and she even offered us cheese and crackers when we arrived! Her place is within driving distance of many restaurants, shops and parks. We felt safe in her home and in her neighborhood. There was a heatwave while we were in town. She has a lovely above ground swimming pool that she said we could use...wish we had brought our swimsuits!!

I've lived in this house for many years and found it to be a very safe neighborhood. While there are no sidewalks, there isn't much traffic, so its very conducive to taking walks for those who enjoy doing so.

  • A great place to stay when visiting the Poughkeepsie area. Erica is a friendly, great host who provided everything we needed and even accommodated special circumstances (we got in very late due to a late flight and she worked with us on that!!). The home is clean, the bed comfortable, the location a perfect relaxing get-a-way spot in a quiet bedroom community, conveniently located near shops, groceries, colleges, and the Hudson River trail. The Culinary Institute is not far away either - a great place for breakfast by chefs-in-training! I recommend it without reservation and when in the area will most definitely book this location again!

    Greg2018-05-28T00:00:00Z
  • Erica has a nice cozy place, very clean and quiet. She is an experienced airbnb host and very considerate. Share the optional breakfast with her and enjoy a conversation that makes the stay more stimulating. Easy parking right in front of the house. Nice japanese restaurant nearby. Close to Vassar campus.

  • Erica has a really lovely place that is really clean and cozy. She has a good size room for two and a bathroom that’s nice as well. I would have stayed a second night, but it wasn’t available. So book early and have a nice trip.

Quiet neighborhood centrally located 5 minutes from Marist, CIA, Vassar, and route 9. Top selections of restaurants in the area to choose. Newly renovated 3br home. Cozy w lots of character. Private parking for guests. Enjoy the very best of the Hudson Valley, and feel at home doing so.
It is quiet and clean. There is also a ceiling fan in each room with original hard wood flooring. Lots of character throughout. Modern appliances, toiletries, and basic everyday living essentials provided. To express our appreciation for choosing our home, a bottle of wine is provided for our guests. The kitchen, bathroom, and living area are all shared spaces. Enjoy!
Our home is quiet and yet close to everything, i.e...restaurants, theater, colleges, hospital, and shopping mall. Ideal location for great dining, family entertainment as well as local pubs. The home is on a quiet street near Vassar Hospital in the historic district of Poughkeepsie. It is also within 10 minutes driving distance to FDR and the Vanderbilt Estate, which are both excellent for picnics and walks/tours of the property. The home is with a 5 minute WALK to the Metro North train station, Mid Hudson Civic Center, and Walkway over the Hudson.

  • The check-in was fast and smooth, the room was large but because there were other guests, the kitchen was a bit messy, so I didn't use the amenities in the kitchen. Wifi was good though. Simple and cosy, nothing fancy.

Jack was an amazing host, the most attentive and organized I've ever had. I got in touch with him very last minute and he got back to me right away, happy to accommodate us. He was very thorough and thoughtful about all the details that might improve our stay, like where to eat and swim nearby. The house is a very special place that clearly is a labor of love. It's decorated in great taste with a nice old-fashioned feel, as well as a modern touch. Would love to return.
