Was ihr unternehmen werdet

Storyteller and author of 'Mayflower - A Sea Change and Guide to Plymouth' (included as a gift as part of the tour - worth £25), Juliet Coombe, will reveal the magic of the the Royal William Yard, a 16 acre site, which for centuries was hidden behind the Official Secrets Act, and will be revealed on her walk and talk. This starts at the giant boulder at the entrance to the Yard, with a fitting description of the ship's biscuit recipe engraved on it, on one side and the various butchers cuts of beef on the other, which were used by the boats picking up goods from this fascinating naval victualling yard built in 1825. She'll circumnavigate the area, travelling through periods of history revealing hidden gems, from famous movies that have been shot like Churchill and what life is like today in this vibrant hub of artists, makers, residents, restauranteurs and fashion creatives. You'll see the oldest postbox in Britain, Darwin's fossils, Stairway to Devon and Devil's Points where witches were flung into the depths of the sea and hear all about Sherlock Holmes' creator Conan Doyle, a nearby resident, and why mummified rats were hidden in the houses. Our journey will finish with questions and some tea and cake in The Hook and Line. Guests will leave with a unique first edition book and sense they that have experienced an epic living historic site.

Wo ihr sein werdet

An ex-Naval victualling Yard, the Royal William Yard is truly magnificent.
We'll meet at the entrance, by the boulder where we'll discover the rock hard Ship's Biscuit recipe. We'll explore the Yard, look through Firestone Arch, to the Sound and Drake's Island, wander past the Slaughterhouse, explore Ocean Studio's artists' hub, and climb the Stairway to Devon to Devil's Point.
