Was ihr unternehmen werdet

,,Watching bears at the observatory is a must,, a guest wrote for me.. and ,,once in a life time experience,, another traveller said.
We will meet in Brasov at the picking point Poarta Schei . From there we will go by car in between 30 and 40 minutes to the wildlife territory .
The visit is taking place in the wild in a remote forelstland area. We will be waiting for bears to pup up at any time in the opening in the evening from inside a specialy design observatory . The guide is a forester and the bears are wild.
The guide will be focused on the trail, sometimes communicating by gesture or using short words or transmiting behaviour restrictions to assure succes of the visit.
Silence is crucial once inside the observatory. Bear Watching is a waiting game. Chances are high around 85% and the distance is suitable for filming and photographing .
The experience is friendly for children more than 7 years old but is not disability friendly.
The passionate guide will present You all kind of details about the bears and the animals there providing information and interpreting their behavior. The visit will end usually after two and a half hours , returning back to the cars and back to Brasov, ocasionally in dark conditions.
Other things to note
Please send me a message before booking to assure that everything is just right and I am not to far away to reach You !! I spend mostly all day in the forest with no telephone signal! My kind regards!

I had started my carrier as a Wildlife Guide and had implemented for the first time in Romania the bear watching tour for general public. I had designed the observatory houses and arranged the settings for the bear watching tours in Brasov, more than 7 Years ago. I am a naturalist , a specialist on wildlife management and on implementing wildlife watching programs.

This experience was truly amazing! It was so great to learn so much about bears and to get to be immersed in the environment, Cosmin was extremely accommodating and knowledgeable and kept me entertained with his knowledge and stories. I would not hesitate to recommend this experience to anyone and will definitely be rebooking the next time I am in the area!

A host's first priority is the safety and well-being of their guests. Unfortunately, I don't feel that was always the case during this tour. Driving while admitting to still being sedated from the dentist, driving without a rearview mirror, driving after drinking alcohol, and leading guests through bear-inhabited woods after drinking alcohol are all things that could justifiably be reported to Airbnb. In addition to providing basic levels of safety, I also expect a host to just generally provide a comfortable and friendly atmosphere. To me, that means not ranting about politically-charged topics, not saying things that could be considered racist (i.e. "Europe belongs to whites"), not grabbing and rummaging through a woman's bag while it is still on her back without asking for permission, not promoting conspiracy theories, not telling guests that they can't go home until you say so, and not constantly getting irritated by guests for merely being human. It should also go without saying that a host should keep the discussion to the topic at hand, which in this case was supposed to be bears. The tour felt more like a job interview, in that the host spent more time talking about themselves than about bears. The other guest with me—whom I had never met before this tour—made a pact with me to keep trying to redirect the conversation to bears. It was a struggle and really not something we should've needed to make a pact about. By the end of the tour, I didn't even care anymore if I saw a bear; I just wanted to end it and get back to town. I have never been uncomfortable on a tour, let alone scared on one (of the host, not the bear). I have never left a bad review for a tour either. I think the host really needs a wake-up call. His socialization skills with humans needs serious work. It is not OK or funny to be "creepy" when you have guests at your mercy in the dark in the woods with no phone and no way of getting out except your car.

I did not feel comfortable with Cosmin. I was very thankful there was another guest or I would have been alone with him in the wilderness with no usable communication. We had to actively ask for information on bears, interrupting his long rants about political and social issues on the drive out. I felt safer with the beautiful bear we finally saw after what seemed like an eternity (due to the constant random thought whispering done by Cosmin in the hide), than I did with the guide. This included finding out he'd just had dental work and was still on major pain medication as he drove us through town and guided us into the woods. Do not book as a lone traveller.
