Was ihr unternehmen werdet
Guests will be picked up in a private car at your Santa Marta accommodation at approximately 8:30AM which we will then drive one hour to the beautiful Don Diego river. On the drive we will bypass the lush Parque Tayrona in its entirety via the main road and a few other rivers before reaching Don Diego.
Once we reach Don Diego, we will enter a Tairona Archeological Park & Eco Lodge or "mini Lost City" up the river with a boat. This Eco habitat was home to our ancestral indigenous Tairona people and we may have the opportunity to meet with Kogui tribespeople and learn about their rituals. We will then go on a ~one hour guided walk through 1000 year old stone terraces and marvel at the ingenious arts, tropical flowers and fauna. On these terraces, we will learn how, when and why they were built and eventually abandoned for centuries. We will continue to the museum where we can see ceramics and artifacts that the indigenous still use. After, we will enjoy a complete traditional lunch at the lodge and then have time for river activities.
The Don Diego river is clean and refreshing which we can swim in and partake in some optional kayaking or river tubing all the way to where the river meets the sea (~2hours). Later, our boat guide will bring us back on a 15 minute boat ride and help us spot monkeys and others. This experience is truly magical and not to be missed for nature lovers.
Other things to note
If you're interested in a different time slot or date not shown, please message me to discuss availability.
River activity is 45-60k p/p depending on group size. (Alternatively we can visit another river with natural pools.)
I offer a discount for groups.

Having traveled to over 60 countries throughout Asia, Europe and Americas; I consider myself an expert in all things travel ranging from backpacker style to luxurious adventures. Having visited Colombia more than 10 times for months at a time since 2003, I have discovered almost everything it has to offer. When someone asks me, "do you prefer mountains or beaches?" I respond, "both, that's why I live in Santa Marta".

Wo ihr sein werdet
We will be at the Don Diego River, some 55 kilometers from Santa Marta. At this river we will enter an archeological park where indigenous communities reside. Inside the eco-park we will be interacting with the indigenous Kogui, descendants of the Taironas.

Recommending this with no doubts. Gabriel is really passioned about the places, people and culture we met. That made the trip a special as same as focus on various details like stopping by local gardening nursery, tasting the greatest empanadas, visiting river delta or just listening good music in the car. Moreover the money goes to a good thing.

This was an incredible experience that I highly recommend to anyone looking for a peaceful and unique way to spend a day. Gabriel was an excellent host from the impeccable timing of pick up to his knowledge of the location he was so kind and welcoming and even took photos for us! The location itself is a precious hidden gem, lunch was delicious. Floating down the Don Diego river is so worth it, we saw all kinds of wildlife and relaxed in nature, finishing the excursion with a visit to a very quiet and gorgeous beach where the river meets the ocean! Amazing! I cannot express enough what a wonderful experience this was!

Really enjoyed the experience with Gabriel. Good communication in the days leading up to our adventure. Showed up on time at our apartment. Flexible in stopping for breakfast and coffee. Gabriel is widely traveled, loves nature and has been all over the mountains and coast of this area. He took us to the site of an indigenous village that had been found on private land. Lucky timing had us there at the same time as a village elder who travels through regularly and spends a few days at this village in a native built house. We received his blessing. After a tour and great lunch we took the optional float trip down the river. Heard howler monkeys and saw lots of herons. Very peaceful.
