On arrival, we'll create our own handmade paper from the raw ingredients, which will be turned into four postcards. Designing the paper with pressed flowers and leaves is the most fun process. While drying the paper, we'll watch a short movie about how Japanese paper is made, enjoy chatting over drinks. When the paper is dried, I'll show you how to use a traditional brush pen to write messages on the cards in Japanese. At the end, I 'll be able to guide you on how to mail your unique cards to your friends or family. Other things to note; Please be sure to bring the mailing addresses of the people you want to send your postcards to.

If you bring your children, or if you use 2L size, please give me a message. The experience starts meeting at the Station and head to the kimono shop together. It's a 3 minutes walk, so we'll relax and have a nice conversation. When we get to the shop, you will change clothes in about 60 - 90 minutes. The kimono shop has the options for your hair set and makeup, if you need. These options need extra fee. After you change into your kimono, we take a taxi to a special area in Kyoto. The photo spot is around Maruyama Park area. Maruyama Park is beautiful Japanese nature scenery. Transportation fee is not included. Then we will start taking photos. Since I am a professional kimono photographer, you can count on me. The photo session will take around 1 hour and bit more. After the session, you need to go back to the kimono shop by yourself. You can use kimono until 17:30. *Kimono upgrade (Furisode, Houmongi, Hakama) is available with extra fee. Please ask me. Other things to note The photo data will be around 50 photos per person. And then you make two different popular styles of sushi: nigirizushi and makizushi. You can learn some useful skills as well as sushi history. I bet you enjoy two different ways of making sushi. I think you can hold a happy sushi party when you go back home. ( We have vegetarian and vegan friendly menus. We try to meet your needs as much as we can. Feel free to make your request. ) In the end of this course, Yumiko will serve a bowl of matcha or powdered green tea with Japanese sweet. This is an excellent chance for visitors to get a firsthand look into the world of the samurai. Get a glimpse into the philosophies of bushido, the way of the warrior, and try your hand at wielding a real katana. Afterwards, practice some inward reflection with Zen meditation, used by the samurai to calm their minds during battle. -Form Practice- Before being given a real blade it is important to master the basics. We will begin our training using wooden practice swords and instruct you on the proper grip, posture, and form. -A Real Katana (Japanese sword)- After learning the basics, the next step is to wield a real katana, and use it to cut though a goza mat. We will place this target on a special stand and you can put your sword skills to the test. -Zen (meditation)- The course wraps up with an experience of Zen meditation. During this workshop, you will have a chance to play the koto and hear and feel for yourself the echoes of antiquity that ring in each note of this beautiful instrument. First, I'll explain about the history of Koto. Koto has long histroy. And I play the classical Koto song for demonstration. Next, let's learn the tuning of Koto. This instrument has various tunings of scales, but this time we will make a basic tuning together. And next, let's learn how to read the score. It is a unique score that is completely different from the Western score. Then, put the finger picks of Koto and play it together. Feel the beautiful sound you make and enjoy Japanese song! After playing the koto, you will be served matcha green tea and seasonal Japanese sweets in a tea ceremony by a master from the Urasenke tea school. Many foreign tourists to Nara usually visit only the major sites in Nara city, but Nara, as the birth place of Japan, has a lot more to offer. If you are rather disappointed by too modernized Japan, and looking for something deep, then, Yamato is waiting for you to be discovered! After meeting at JR Nara station, I will take you to my favorite Shinto shrine and a Buddhist temple by trains and walking. Both of them are surrounded by beautiful nature, and its origins are full of history and legends. As a spiritual power spots, they have been worshipped by the people from all over Japan over 1300 years. •Explore the oldest and the first ranking shrine in Yamato, “Ohmiwa Shrine” with history since the time of mythology. •Drink the holy spring water of Sai shrine from sacred Mt. Miwa, believed to heal any diseases. • Visit Hase Temple deep in the mountain with seasonal beauty with flowers to worship one of the biggest wooden statue of Kannon, goddess of mercy. Along the way, I will explain the Japanese history, difference between Shintoism and Buddhism, and spiritual wisdom and traditions and more. Any questions are welcomed, too. You will make a green tea (Matcha) in an ancient style Japanese tea ceremony room wearing Kimono. First, you will chose your kimono. I will help to make sure that you are dressed correctly also your hair match the traditional styles. You will a selection of kimono in sizes appropriate for women, men, boys, and girls . Second, I will give you an introduction to the Japanese tea ceremony and associated rituals. Traditional Japanese tea ceremony will be held and you will make a green tea (Matcha), drink it, then eat Japanese sweets (Wagashi) which is suitable for the green tea. Lastly, you are allowed to take pictures in the tea ceremony room after the ceremony and in front of our unique backdrops! Other things to note ・You have an option to do the tea ceremony by sitting on a chair. Please let me know in advance! ・Children who are younger than 9 cannot participate in the regular tea ceremony session.

In this activity, you will wear the proper training gear and hold real katana swords to train just like the samurai did. The experience of handling a katana correctly and cutting through objects will be something you will never forget. The content of this experience: 1. Getting dressed in the training gear 2. Learning how to draw and sheath the katana safely 3. Learning how to swing the katana correctly 4. Cutting rolled tatami mats with a real katana 5. Japanisches Rind: Wagyu-Erlebnis in Kyoto
We will meet up at Sanjo Station and take a short stroll to the restaurant (about 5 minutes). On the way there, we will pass by Ponto-cho, which is Kyoto’s premier dining district. We have arranged a two-hour reservation at the restaurant, so you can take ample time to savor the delicious Wagyu beef. After your meal, we will head over the adjacent Gion district to grab some drinks at a secluded bar on one of Gion’s most historical streets. The bar, which is typically not open to first-time visitors, boasts a gorgeous interior that elegantly integrates its modern amenities with the traditional architecture. We’ve reserved the bar for one hour, so you can relax and enjoy an exclusive atmosphere where you feel like a Kyoto local. Other things to note: Smoking in the Wagyu restaurant is permitted. Moreover, since we will be grilling our food at the table, it can get smoky. Please be aware of these points if you are sensitive to smoke.

You will find how the stream is fast and strong. All of those temples I will bring you have really peaceful atmosphere, great sights of impressive architectures and mysterious statues of Buddha, and amazing natural sceneries with stunning Japanese maple trees, and lovely cherry blossoms as well! Furthermore each of them has interesting episodes related to Japanese history and culture. Talking of that, one of them is a really special temple which has deep connection with Imperial Family, and that temple has an impressive lovely Japanese garden! You can relax yourself and have a lovely break there! What I would like to provide you is a special, priceless opportunity where you can avoid hundreds of people and admire sceneries and beauty more peacefully far away from over tourism in Kyoto, also where you can get deep insights and learn more about Japan and the way of life here. Welcome to my experience! :-) There are two parts in this experiences: Kimono Wearing and Photoshoot. [ On the day - Kimono Wearing (40-60 minutes) ] Reach the kimono shop at least 1 to 2 hrs BEFORE the SCHEDULED TIME of photoshoot Select the right Kimono ■ A professional kitsuke sensei will help with wearing the Kimono ■ Then a professional stylist will help with hair styling ■ Kimono upgrade/Make-up service is available with additional fee (decide at the shop) [ On the day - Photoshoot ] ■ We meet at the Kimono shop ON the SCHEDULED TIME ■ Walk around Kyoto Gion area ■ As we walk together, I will suggest some suitable spots for photoshoot ■ I will take photo group by group ■ Don’t worry about posing as I will guide you along the way ■ After the photoshoot, you can wear the kimono until 6-8pm [ About photo ] ■ 10 edited full resolution photos per participant ■ all unedited JPEG 200-400 photos, send within 7 days via cloud drive [ Note ] ■ You can always ask me if I can open the schedule for you if it’s not listed ■ Kimono upgrade (Nishaku, Furisode, Hakama) is available with extra fee. And it is a city that is kind to people who wear kimono. Please choose your favorite kimono. I will get you dressed in kimono carefully. You will be excited while dress up in kimono. You will be surprised at the beauty of your kimono. Let's make a wonderful kimono style just for you! Hair arrangement fee is free now. You can attach as many hair accessories as you like. Once you have a great kimono, take a picture! We prepared a red parasol for women and a ninja sword for men. Enjoy your trip to Kyoto! If you return by 9:00 pm, there is no additional charge, so you can go to dinner or light up the sights. Why is this experience so cheap?
