Sketch the Sydney Harbour with an art professor

Sketching is a wonderful way to capture the essence of what you see in your travels. I have recorded my travels in sketchbooks for over 30 years, and I'd love to teach you how to do the same. Artists of all levels of experience, including beginners, are welcome! • We'll meet at Hickson Road Reserve Park, and I'll hand out sketch paper and pencils. • I'll teach you some essential drawing techniques, and then we'll begin sketching! I’ll assist with tips and guidance as you create your Sydney travel sketch. • You'll have a great view of the Sydney Harbour Bridge, the ferries, and the Opera House. We'll walk to a second viewing spot in order to capture final touches. You'll gain new drawing skills and confidence, and take home a sketch as a memento of your time in Sydney.

This beginner lei making experience begins on the beach. Watch the waves, surfers, and rainbows as you create a beautiful flower lei. The lei will be created from: plumeria, puakenikeni, stephanotis, tiare, bougainvilla, pikake, orchid, crown flower, tuberose, lantern ilima, depending upon what flowers are in season. Most flowers are unique to Hawaii and are harvested the night before or the morning of your class. The lei will be created using the Kui(piercing) method. You can choose to make a traditional neck Lei or a Lei Po'o/flower crown. There is also a Hili style Lei Po'o/Flower Crown class available(advanced lei making). Other things to note: We are slightly flexible with the schedule, so let us know if different times work better for you. Class is on the beach so please bring your own beach towels or chairs.

You'll pick out your favorite ukulele from our selection, grab your beverage of choice from the local market and settle in to learn the basics of holding and strumming the ukulele! This is set for children 10 and up ! You will be introduced to a few simple chords that will allow you to play around 300 songs from the 50's and 60's. After rearranging those same chords, you will learn how to play hundreds more popular songs from the 70's until the present. We then learn 3 more chords and the blues, which translates to thousands more songs! You'll also learn to solo over these and a beautiful local Hawaiian tune! Each student of ours is always able to take their lesson booklet home with them after the class. This short 'n sweet lesson is also the perfect way to spend a rainy evening in one of the most beautiful places in the world, with one of the best views!
