We hope to have guests who are looking for a unique Airbnb experience and not just a cheap room you can get anytime at a Motel 6. Keep in mind that this is a home built in 1951 that we have done a lot of work on since we purchased the home in 2015. But you may find that it has some unusual quirks.
The outdoor space does offer an amazing place for everyone that you may not find anywhere else in Portland. Please remember that we are not advertising this space as a luxury home with all the amenities. It's rustic and simple in a forest like setting.

Our dogs Lola (deceased) and Lucy will most likely be greeting you at the door with smiles on their faces. They are Labradoodle's and are hyporallergic. All of our pets stay upstairs and rarely find themselves in the lower level space. We do have a cat named Calvin who we inherited on the property as well.
We get the sounds of birds in the early morning hours and we have chipmunks and squirrels on the property for your entertainment. Keep an eye out for the owl that makes an appearance every once in a while.
Take a minute and take notice of the pictures of the front of our home that indicate where to park near the mailbox, the steps down to the driveway, and the walk to the staircase that takes you to the lower level. Please be confident that you can physically get into and out of the downstairs space safely before booking your stay. When you arrive and have negotiated the turn around at the end of the street, park in the designated space above the home just past the mail box. Do NOT pull down into or park in the driveway at any time. We've had a few people come close to going over the embankment. For your SAFETY do NOT think that you can pull into the driveway and unpack your things before parking on the street just to save you an extra 30 seconds or because you think it's more convenient for you to do so. In addition parking in the driveway blocks the owners from getting in and out when they need to. There is plenty of room and spaces to park and we hardly get any traffic at our end of the street. Be aware that you may come up on people out for a walk and bikers using the path and the street outside our home.
Please ask for help when and if you want to take advantage of the fire pit. For safety reasons the hosts will light the fire and set the control. Do not adjust the temperature of the fire pit after it has been set by the hosts. Please do not burn anything over or around the fire pit which includes making s'more or burning sticks. Keep your feet off the bowl of the fire pit. This is an adult area that is the main feature of the home which we want to continue to share with our guests. It is not meant to be "party central"! The fire pit can be used in the evening only up until 11:00 pm. At that time we expect everyone to take it down a notch and their voices at a conversational level. The hosts have professional careers and a active life style. Please use care and respect on the deck and around the back yard at all times!
There is no smoking of any kind or use of tabacco products permitted anywhere on the property. No Drug Use permitted on the property as well. You will be asked to leave if this rule is violated.
The backyard blue swing is meant for relaxing use which we think you'll really enjoy. Use care so that it does not slam into the tree. The hammock can put you to sleep but will not support the weight of two people but you'll love it!
Children should be supervised at ALL times. The home is not a "jungle gym" for children to climb all over everything. The deck is not a play area but an area to relax and take it all in. Please keep the children off the cable rail system around the deck and safety is recommended around the fire pit. The property has a Kids Tree House where they can play but close supervision is required. Feel free to pull the bean bags out and play the corn hole game.
If you have an infant or a child not yet potty trained you'll need to provide your own crib/bed. Do not let them sleep in the bed with you or any of the beds provided in the space. Soiling the sheets and mattress will cost you your security deposit.
Please do not unplug appliances which include the space heater in the twin bedroom and the hairdryer that is in the bathroom. Do not use a hair dryer in any of the other rooms besides the bathroom. Overloading rooms may cause the circuit breaker to turn the power off completely. Plugging in and charging phones or computers is fine and there are plenty of other outlets.
In addition please do not move the furniture around to avoid scratching the floors or damaging the walls.
There are extra blankets in the closets of both bedrooms for your use if it is not warm enough for you. You will find towels in the main hallway closet. Avoid slamming all doors. All other closets are meant to remain closed at all times. Please leave all sheets in the closet. They are meant for the next set of guests.
If you need to use the Laundry Room please ask first. Plus the sliding doors are a bit tricky. There are some details we would like to explain. We also have a iron and ironing board to use upon request.
Hosts have wine glasses available if you happen to bring some wine along for the trip. Just ask or message us.
Please clean up any spills completely and pick up after yourselves throughout your stay so the space doesn't look like you don't care. Oregon is big on recycling so we've provided a bucket for bottles, cans and paper. Keep Oregon Green!
Wenn du bis zu 7 Tage vor deinem Aufenthalt stornierst, erhältst du eine Rückerstattung über 50 %, plus die Service-Gebühren.
We enjoy a cold beer or a glass of wine with our friends. We also enjoy anytime we get to travel and experience new places. The time we get for ourselves is also a precious commodity. Our outdoor space is the perfect place for that and we hope our guests will be able to appreciate too. We do not subscribe to having "high maintenance" people around us because we pretty much go with the flow. At the same time we take a lot of pride in our home, our family and our careers. We love our sports too! Our kids are all out of college, married and just getting started with their careers. We have five grandkids. We have both carved out niche's in our careers, Phil as a college basketball resource and Jill as a VP of a home healthcare company. Jill is also seeking her second masters degree, this one in Healthcare Management from OHSU. Phil has been competing in Xterra off-road triathlons over the last eight years since his basketball playing days are over and has even talked Jill into doing an occasional open water swim series with him.
