Phoenix Barn: simple family home in extraordinary location! Cot Valley, St Just, near Lands End – by coastal path, above quiet cove and small beach, close to Cape Cornwall. In Winter I live (with new puppy) in house and have 2 free bedrooms upstairs.

Der Wohnraum

I characterise Phoenix Barn as an ordinary family home in an extraordinary location. Downstairs there is a large living room with an oil-fired Aga, a conservatory and porch; there is a door through to the stairs, a shower and toilet room, and my room. Upstairs there are two small bedrooms (one with a double bed, one with twin beds) and a small lounge. There is also the bathroom and an airing cupboard. There are radiators and wardrobes in each room, and water is heated by a solar panel, topped up by the Aga and an immersion heater.

Zugang für Gäste

Guests have access to the whole house (except, of course, to my bedroom downstairs! ... and "my" sofa downstairs: there are plenty of other easy chairs! And a sofa upstairs...).

Interaktion mit Gästen

I am offering room(s) in a shared house, and I like to share the house with my guests, so I am happy for you to join me in the living space and kitchen downstairs - it is helpful to know if you are "in or out", but the upstairs is a space where guests can "get away" from the household (although there are things stored upstairs, which I may need to get at from time to time...). The shower room downstairs is available for guests to use.

We had a great time at Andrews cosy and comfortable house. He really made us feel home and was always ambitioned to help us finding good hiking tours or the best Pastyshop. The house was well cleaned, heated and we didn`t missed anything. The surrounding area, especially the coast side, is really stunning and a perfect scenery for long walks. Therefore I can really recommend spending holidays at Andrews Cottage. We really find time to relax there and to enjoy the nature.

I'm not sure I want to say anything about how amazingly fabulous and perfectly quaint Andrew's home is- for if I do, it might not be available to rent when I return! As out-of-country travelers, we were visiting Cornwall for a wedding and decided to stay for a holiday. After seeing how beautiful the countryside was we decided to extend our visit in Cornwall and did a last minute look for places. After an hour or so, I happened upon Andrew's listing. It was fairly remote for us travelers but we were swayed by the many positive reviews. We were not let down. Thus far, it was the best lodging decision we made in Britain! The area is remote ( for us!), idyllic, great pubs ( The Star for traditional music; Kings Arms for hearty food prepared to order- so get there *early* or you'll be sorry!), golf, plane to Scilly Isle, or the coast and archeological sites. Enjoy yourselves & say hi to Ziggy the dog!

Lovely house, wonderful host, amazing location right on the coast path and near st just - couldn't have asked for more! Loved sitting in the little conservatory with a book and a glass of wine - a home away from home!

Really sorry about the towels: I forgot to get them out for you! I do provide liquid hand soap - more ecological than a new bar of soap for every guest! Thanks for the feedback, though!

This has been our best airbnb experience so far! When we got to the Phoenix Barn Andrew and Ziggy were there to greet us and show us around the house. He even provides his guest with a self-made guide listing the house's facilities and the nearby attractions. Andrew himself built the cottage for his family some years ago and the house transpires with happy memories and good vibes. The cottage is the perfect place to relax: it's cosy, peaceful and has got everything you could possibly need. The location is very good too: from the house you can walk to the village centre in about 15 minutes (there are a couple of grocer's and a few good pubs) or you can take a path to the cliffs and old mines round there. We couldn't have found a better place to stay in Cornwall and we are looking forward to get back!
