Although the quality of Airbnb locations in The Los Angeles area has been going down for the past year or so, this was the worst return in investment yet. Full disclosure, the host we originally booked with cancelled us hours before we were heading to La, so this was not our first choice. However, we were making the most of it, and looking forward to our stay. This was the dirtiest Airbnb we've stayed in, and we've stayed in many. Towels were obviously unwashed and had hair on them. The sheets on the bed had hair on them, grit, and grease stains. Thankfully there was an unopened set of sheets we were able to put on the bed, although sleeping on unwashed new sheets isn't something we were happy about. We found a couple towels that seem like they may have been washed and not just folded up dirty and put in the cabinet. The floors clearly hadn't been swept or mopped since there was trash on the bedroom floor and chewed up gum under the couch. All this may have been more bearable if she hadn't charged us $145 for a cleaning fee! Again, the place had NOT been cleaned before we arrived. The apt is very old, very basic, and many outlets didn't work, and most weren't grounded (not three holes). The internet is extremely slow. The kitchen is only suitable for making the most basic meals, since there are no bowls, sharp knives, or cutting board. The dishes and silverwear all appeared to be dirty and had to be washed before we used them. The kitchen cabinets were the strangest I've ever seen-nearly impossible to open because there was no space between them. The dish heaters provided some heat, but one wasn't by working properly. Since the entire apartment is tile, it was cold when we were there. Only the most basic amenities were provided-no hair dryer and no washer/dryer, although they were listed in the description, and no second bed as listed. The couches are very thin and uncomfortable for sleeping. The pros of the apt are the location-it's in Culver City, and close to everything around there, it was quiet, and there was a parking space provided.
As I stated, we've stayed in many Airbnbs in the past three years or so, but for what this one cost us, we could have booked a suite in a clean hotel. I've never left a negative review, even when conditions weren't great, but I feel it's better to be honest so others don't spend what we did for very subpar accommodations. Reda was friendly, but that doesn't make up for the condition of the apt.
