Dear Airbnb friends... Thank you for looking at our site! We'd love to host you this summer but unfortunately we need to take a break this season. We hope you have a wonderful stay on the Cape this summer with one of (very) many fine hosts! THANK YOU dear guests - since 2011 - that have enriched our lives with good company, friendship, joy and LOVE!! It's been a profound journey... and we hope to continue later this year. Peace be with you, J&J
Please note that we are unable to host guests this summer season 2017, so our calendar is currently blocked. Thank you for looking! All the best to you as you plan your travels around the U.S. If you have any questions about traveling on the Cape... please ask - we'd love to help!!!
We are leaving our home description up for your information:
Please come and feel welcomed in our family home - lovingly known as "Red Top Artist Retreat." We are here with our two friendly kitty-cats and would be delighted to host your stay! Breakfasts and afternoon treats are included in the reservation.
PLEASE NOTE: We appreciate your understanding of our request for a profile and photograph when you submit a request to stay.
The name "Red Top" is due to the home's historic role as a Red Cross bandaging station during the war of 1898, and it was built on this hilltop before that war in 1889 by my husband's great, great (great!!) Uncle Seth. The family began using the cottage as the summer home in 1930s. In the mid-1970s it was insulated for year-round use.
Located just under 2 miles from Hyannis' main street - Red Top offers guests a chance to enjoy a quieter retreat from the summer crowds - but certainly close enough for you to join in the tourist bustle at only a few minutes away by car or bike!
Hyannis is basically a small urban hub tht offers just about everything: Restaurants, galleries, cafes, clubs, clothing & gift shops, book stores, the Kennedy Museum, Maritime Museum, the town library, churches, and of course the harbor where the local artists have their art shanties and where the ferries depart for Nantucket and Martha's Vineyard.
About our 3 guest rooms:
- We have beds available for 1-6 guests.
- We host ONLY to a related group/family.
- We have a king bed, double bed, and twins.
- 2 full baths are on same floor as the bedrooms.
- All common areas are for you to enjoy!
- Kitchen is also available for your use.
- Organic baked goods, fruit, yogurt, etc.
- Eggs, cheese, cereal - always here for you!
- Coffee/tea is normally ready by 7:00am.
- All food is completely REAL in our home!
2 friendly, adult short-haired males. For your comfort we keep them out of guest bedrooms & bathrooms (closed doors) and dining area.
A Note About Children: We welcome young ones and very much love having children here - however - please keep in mind that our house is an antique and therefore not suitable for the highly active child wanting to run inside. Our yard is a great place to play in -- the beach is just down the street! Thank you for understanding this concern.
We truly enjoy the company of others and welcome the opportunity to broaden our perspective on many topics!
Peace and Many Happy Travels to You!
Janni & Jeffrey

We LOVE to interact with guests that would like to interact with us - but please know we do respect your time and your need for privacy.
Weitere wichtige Infos
The Cape is a wonderful place to vacation. We have all the items you'll need for the beach too... umbrellas, towels, chairs, cooler bags with ice-blocks, water, iced-tea, toys... even a few spare bathing suits!
We greatly appreciate guests that will agree to quieter conversations after the midnight hour as this is a family neighborhood.
We also ask that all shoes that have sand and grass on them be removed and placed in trays provided near the front and back door.
A note about water: Cape Cod is a fragile environment and most homes (like ours) have septic tanks - so we greatly appreciate conservative use of water while taking showers.
Also note that we do have a flat screen for use of DVD's (as well as Hulu, Netflex streaming) but we do not have actual television.
Smoking is not allowed inside our home, but you are welcomed to smoke out in the yard or on our deck.
Thanks so much!
After almost 30 years of living in Cambridge (and work at MIT and Harvard), my husband, Jeffrey, and I decided to try living full time in the family home here on Cape Cod.
Besides teaching, writing, fundraising and hosting concerts and workshops for musicians, artists and writers - we enjoy bicycling, hiking, skiing and train travel as much as possible with small groups of like minded folks.
Our next intention (maybe late in 2015 or early 2016) is to spend time with friends in Europe.
As hosts, we enjoy sharing our home with others - especially folks attracted to music, art and literature (as well as organic cuisine and good wine!).
Besides all the wonderful things you can do on Cape Cod, we also invite you to relax, sleep long hours if you like, write, read, draw/paint, compose, play/listen to music, pet the kitties, eat good food, drink great wine... and just enJOY yourselves!
Cheers! Janni & Jeffrey
