The apartment, consisting of an ample living room, a single bedroom and a spacious bathroom, is centrally located at the very heart of Wilmersdorf on the Kudamm, in a quiet charming modernistic International-style classic, designed in the late 1920's. Both the building and the apartment were recently renovated while maintaining their original spirit.
Filled with museums, theatres, gardens, cafes, art galleries, book stores, high fashion stores and fine dining establishments, Charlottenburg-Wilmerdorf is stylistic and sophisticated, and considered to be Berlin's most beautiful neighborhood. Strolling through the small streets to both sides of the Kudamm is not only pleasing and aesthetic, it allows visitors to experience and capture the sophisticated, artistic, intellectual and bourgeois spirit of Berlin better than any other part of the city. You can literally feel the beat that drove cultural life in this city in-between the wars still beating today.
This apartment is quiet and exceptionally well lit with natural light, offering a completely open panoramic view overseeing the breathtaking Schaubohne theater building and piazza all the way to Kurfürstendamm.
Transportation is as easy as it gets with immediate access to the bus (1 minute), u-bahn (3 minutes) and s-bahn (7 minutes) systems. Taxis are readily available around the clock.
The apartment includes:
* spacey living room with sofa, armchairs, café table, dining table and an open kitchen
* bedroom with a double king bed and built in closet
* bathroom with bath, washing machine, dryer
* fully equipped kitchen with microwave, oven, stove, toaster and refrigerator
* free wireless internet
A bit of history: This architectural landmark, was planned by the iconic German Jewish architect Erich Mendelsohn. The project included the Schaubuhne theater (originally Universum, the world’s first modern cinema) and two adjourning residential buildings. The complex is listed under severe preservation code aimed at protecting its heritage and unique characteristics.
While in Berlin, we strongly recommend taking a day trip, by train or bicycle, to Potsdam to see Mendelsohn's highly influential architectural masterpiece - the Einstein tower, an astrophysical observatory built in 1919-21.
Our building was home to Walter Jurmann, a notable composer who - like Mendelsohn, left Berlin in the 1930's, and - among others, composed the music to the Marx brothers famous film "A Day At The Races" (1937).
As desired by the guests. We are very responsive and always happy to provide assistance and information.
The neighborhood is relaxed, somewhat bohemian, artistic, stylistic with an intellectual feel, nice cafes and many parks and gardens. It is very green and tranquil.
Extremely convenient! Transportation is as easy as it gets with immediate access to the 3 major Berlin transportation systems - the bus (1 minute walk), u-bahn (3 minutes) and s-bahn (7 minutes). Taxis are readily available around the clock.
Exceptionally good location with exceptional open views, elegance and style.
For guests staying more than two weeks, we require and provide a bi-weekly clean-up for €60 per clean up.
Please respect our neighbors. This is a quiet residential building. We kindly ask guests to take off their shoes upon entering the apartment in order not to disturb the downstairs neighbors.
