The Historic Newcomb Tavern, built in 1693 in the heart of quaint Sandwich Village is an exquisite estate with central A/C, 6 fireplaces, 7 bedrms.,5bathrms., 3 very large Living Rms., an English Pub, Gardens and Grounds perfect for your reunion. Palatial estate located in the heart of Sandwich Village overlooking the scenic lake and downtown. Views are spectacular and the house is pristine.
The house is a showcase of the 17th century, built in 1693 by Peter Newcomb and one of the most photographed homes on Cape Cod and New England due to its beauty and most importantly its historical place and housing of dignitaries during the Revolutionary War.
The house is 7000 sf. with architectural details from the early settlers to the Plymouth Bay Colony, hand-hewn beams, King's Boards, hand-forged hinges and hardware, seldom seen in its' original setting. You can almost feel the Revolutionaries discussing whether to split from England and their oppressive taxation without representation. The Newcomb Tavern has its' very important place in our Nation's history, being the meeting place for many Tories. It is most unusual for the period with the high ceilings, many large windows, 8 staircases ( only 6 can be accessed now) and large closets in each bedroom ( unheard of at the time !). Attention to the historic detail in renovation has made the Newcomb Tavern unique in the United States. It is a perfect place for reunions of friends and families, called the "Happy House" by all who have the privilege of staying here. My goal is to preserve the Historic Newcomb Tavern 1693 and allow guests to take part in this history. The pictures don't do it justice; the amenities abound to make your stay perfect in your memories of loved places.
It is listed on the National Registry of Historic Places, built in 1693 as an Inn, and is now available for your perfect and memorable family vacation.

The views from every room are wonderful, they include views of the Town with the Church Steeple from the 1800's and another Church Steeple from the 1700's; these will surely delight you and your family.

Please call me anytime, day or night with any question, I love hearing from my guests as it is my desire that this be the best vacation for everyone who stays at the Newcomb Tavern 1693.. Enjoy your stay in our 323 year old Tavern.
My husband bought the Newcomb Tavern in 1970 from the Newcomb Family and had one of many famous parties there. We worked throughout the years to restore the Newcomb Tavern to the grand old Historic Tavern/Inn that it always was. My son loves and respects the Newcomb Tavern 1693 and wants to keep it in the family. We both consider the Newcomb Tavern to be such a gift. Many people call it " The Happy House" because it brings so much joy to so many.
The house is a lot of work, just trying to keep it up so that it will live up to its 323 years of history and all the famous and not so famous people who have graced its' halls. Many dignitaries from the Revolutionary War stayed at the Newcomb Tavern and it was the site for the Tories to meet as the widow Newcomb married a well known statesman who was a prominent Tory, later banned to Nova Scotia. The house reverted back to her Newcomb Adult children that she had with William Newcomb, and for that reason it stayed the Newcomb Tavern.
