This tipi is the center of our forest. It was dedicated to Sitting Bull, chief of the Lakota. The floor is Lakota limestone – and to complete your Lakota experience, you will sleep in a cozy, queen-size bed under a warm down comforter, covered with a buffalo hide.
Sitting Bull tipi is part of Tipi Village Retreat, a tipi bed & breakfast in Marcola Oregon. We have seven tipis, two cabins and two private suites on this forested land with creek front.
Tipi Village Retreat is perfect for group events of up to 30 guests, for families in search of adventurous activities, but also for personal retreats or romantic getaways. The tipis offer sacred, meditative spaces. We left them uncluttered in a calm ZEN style.
The seven tipis and two cabins share the two baths in our bath house. Even the farthest tipi is only 2-3 min. away from there.
Our guests' favorites are the hot tub and the fire pit after a hard day at whitewater rafting or reading in the hammock....
Breakfast is included, and we offer on site family style dinners in the Northwest cuisine, with focus on fresh and local food.

If you are at Tipi Village Retreat on a personal retreat or a romantic getaway, you can spend all day relaxing, moving from hot tub to hammock and back to the tipi for a nap. If you feel more ambitions, you can drive the 30 minutes to Eugene or go on a scenic wine tour. You could also leave the car parked and go for a run or walk along the river or up into the hills, or on a self-guided tour of the ghost town of Wendling. Then it is time for dinner - and after that, listening to the stories around the fire pit of the other guests' adventures of the day. What a day!
On the other hand, if you are looking for adventure you will find enough to send you spinning. Check our local Visitor Center for 'Things to Do': (website hidden)
Respect for this beautiful land and the keepers of this land.
We have a friendly dog of our own. He loves people and is used to having guests here, but he gets overly excited if other dogs come to visit. Please do not bring pets.
We always know when guests at the retreat want to interact, or would rather be left alone. Everyone is different. - You can stay in the hammock or Adirondack Chair by the river all day with or without your book and nobody will disturb you. Promise!
Tipi Village is a "sanctuary for the soul" as a guest once called it, a place that feeds the hungry. It is a very comfortable place, with beds in ZEN style tipis. It is a happy place for children of all ages.
We feed you well from local sources. You can just move into the village and focus on having fun with the kids - go treasure hunting in the creek, hike to the swimming hole or bring a book and read in one of the hammocks - and don't let the woodpecker keep you awake ..... If you are out for adventures, there is zip lining, whitewater rafting on the McKenzie, wine and beer tasting, horseback riding and more to choose from.
