Pondok Langon is first and foremost our home. It's unique village setting and tranquil surrounds means that it works for people who are looking for a place to relax and unwind. Think rice-paddy walks, slow village life and sunsets on the balcony listening to the frog songs and overlooking the emerald-green surrounds. We seek guests who are respectful of our family compound and are keen to share life in the slower lane for a time.

Our home does not work for party-goers and all-night-longers.

There is no smoking allowed in any of the enclosed rooms on the property.

No food or drinks (other than water) allowed in the bedrooms. Waste is to be recycled in the bins provided. The property is equipped with shopping bags which we urge guests to use when shopping to avoid single-use plastic bags and help reduce Bali's huge plastic waste problem.

Breakfast is served between 8am and 9am each morning. An earlier or later breakfast can be arranged up until 11am, after which the kitchen is closed. If dining in, dinner must be ordered by 9am.

We booked the house for two nights, six friends travelling together, most of us having been to Ubud several times before. We all had mixed feelings about the stay. The houses and the location (once found ;) are both beautiful and just a short scooter ride out of Ubud. However, both nights we experienced blackouts, which was really a pity considering that you cannot really use the space the houses have to offer in complete darkness. There were only a few candles and no flashlights or emergency lighting , so we all were stuck to the dining table until the electricity went on again around 11pm. I know this can happen on Bali anywhere, but on the second night we heard from the hosts that they were kind of expecting it already (and then gave us some flashlights) - pity that they didn`t warn us before and/or prepare alternative lighting. Of course there was also no wifi during this time, even during daytime it was often not working. Further we had more the feeling of being guests in their home rather than having a space to ourselves, since Alex and Yoga and their children lived in the house just next-door within the same enclosure and walked past us several times in the evening. Considering all those little imperfections, no electricity, no wifi, not complete privacy we felt that the price we paid for the house was too much.

Thanks for the feedback Tobias. Ubud has not experienced rolling blackouts for some years now and unfortunately they started on the night you checked in. As you said, this is something out of our control and admittedly we were underprepared as a huge storm had just hit Ubud and it had taken out one of the main electrical boxes in town. Once the storm has subsised, we came home later that night with a replenished supply of torches and candles and set them up for you on the second night, as we were expecting the blackout then and were better prepared. We have since bought more solar lighting which should be useful should more blackouts occur in future. Our family lives on the property and as we say in the listing, this is first and foremost our home. Perhaps your expectations were a little different as it was a last minute booking and you may not have seen that in the description. We prefer to be here with our guests should things go wrong, as they often tend to do in Indonesia, so we are on hand to help. Wifi is a constant challenge and one we try to manage as best as possible with the limited options available in our area. The massive storm also affected the wifi connection, hence we are sorry to say that during your stay, the wifi connection was poor.

The villa is a quaint, rustic place that's pretty isolated, so it's quiet and peaceful. You'll have to watch out for bugs and weak wifi, but the lovely staff and amenities more than make up for it.

The villas are very special, with old wood and stunning views, nice curves everywhere. It is smaller than it looked from the pictures, but the rice fields on all sides gave the necessary space. The bathtub with the view was my highlight! There was a lack of sun-bathing space...just a factor if you wanted to catch some rays! The staff were friendly, though at some point we had to ask them to give us some space so we could relax and feel at home. I guess this is just a personal preference, as some people like having staff around. Their breakfasts were off the charts fantastic! The cleaning and laundry all excellent. We were well looked after. The biggest and only real negative for us was the wifi. The connection was out more than it was on, and when it was on it was slow. It was my birthday and my family tried to contact me all day. I went through the whole day without being able to contact home and this was very sad and also frustrating. If you are not needing wifi, and want a relaxing holiday in a stunning villa then this is the place for you. It's quite far from town, but the area is peaceful and stunning, and the villas very special.

It's a really beautiful house about 10 mins drive to ubud centre. We haven't met Alex & Yoga this time, but their keeper Yuli, she is very nice, cooking yummy breakfast for us, Any of our request she just did her best to help us. The view of the rice field from up floor are gorgeous, incredible country living experience. This villa with A/C, the bedroom is quite like semi open , a lot of bugs, but it has mosquito net on bed. We really enjoy it.

A beautiful house, very relaxing and made our stay in Ubud very enjoyable. All of the rooms were prepared with care and the whole house had stunning decor. The motive and thought behind the whole house was brilliant. Alex, Yoga and Yuli were incredibly accommodating and made our stay. An oasis of calm in a busy city.
