My two Vizslas and I run three seriously pet friendly homes. In June we raised the daily and weekly rates slightly to meet costs, and drastically reduced the monthly rate (over 40% discount). Also we no longer charge for extra people. If one place is booked, try for the other ones. To find them, go to the bottom of this page to my photo, click on it, scroll down to "Listings" and you'll see three "Pet Friendly" listings. Click the photo to go to the other homes.
This home is located in the historic Beacon Hill part of town. It was built in 1906 and fully restored in 2015. It is decorated in a mix of antiques in some rooms (hallway, living room) and high-tech amenities (smart TVs with internet, Pandora and Netflix) in the sitting room and bedroom. The house has a elaborate alarm system if you wish to use it. It is about 10 minutes from downtown, and is on a bus route that takes you right into the city. Interstate 10, the major San Antonio artery, is 2 miles away, The airport is 4 miles away. The house is solar powered, and fully insulated with new A/C and heat. Our place is pet-friendly (no fees), and has a fully fenced and gated back yard (6 foot wood fence). There is a doggie door in the kitchen, allowing dogs to come in and out of the fully-fenced back yard. We are one block from five well-known restaurants, including two that specialize in ribs, one that serves the best hamburgers in San Antonio, a popular Mexican breakfast, lunch, and dinner cafe, and a pet-friendly coffee house which has gourmet dishes as well as good coffee. A food truck parks most nights down the block and serves up excellent Mexican dishes. Our neighborhood is known for the dozen or so antique shops within walking distance. For a negotiable fee, we can pick you up at the airport and you can use one of our cars while you are here. We have another place 1/2 mile away, and can be at your door to help with any issues within minutes. Pets are allowed.

I try to plan ahead and leave the door unlocked for you. There is a lock box on the gate if the door isn't open. I'll give you the combination when you register.

I have learned from travelers that, while some folks say "pet-friendly", it's just a way to get your business, and they charge fees to limit you to the type of dog you have. I'm not that way. My two Vizslas and I run three seriously pet friendly homes. You'll find everything your four footed friend desires, including doggie door, fenced yard, treats, special doggie pillows, a nice spot by the front window to keep a lookout for mail delivery, UPS, other dogs, and - the scourge of the community! - cats! I'll be staying at my girl friend's apartment only 1/2 mile away, so I can be down in a couple minutes if you need to see me or have something fixed.

By the way, you don't pay that $50/night extra fee except for more than 2 adults. You don't pay for kids, so don't enter their data in the registration.

There is a house alarm system in the Victorian house. When doors or windows are opened, you will hear a beeping sound. The key chain fob contains a police and fire button. You don't need to worry about setting off an alarm when you come in unless you set the alarm to go off. A manual is on the shelf next to the alarm control pad on the wall in the front corridor. It’s pretty simple to operate the key fob if you want to use the alarm.
I will respond as soon as any complaint about cleanliness, safety, or something is needed, like being out of propane for the barbecue or a missing cooking utensil or a particular type of pot or pan.
We leave the frig and bar modestly stocked (beers, red/white wine, tequila) and would appreciate a donation if you eat or drink our supply. There is a grocery store very close by for other things you might need.

I'm a retired firefighter. I used to live on the North Shore of Oahu and spent every day in the water. But, to get away from it all, I'd vacation in Nosara, Costa Rica, where world-class surf occurs year-round. After a while, I decided to buy a cottage in Nosara, which I rent when I'm not there. I also have three pet-friendly vacation rentals in San Antonio, Texas, in order to support my surfing habit. I live behind one of my rentals with my two dogs, Jack and Jill.
