We had a great time visiting Martha's Vineyard. Regarding this property, here are the several pros & 1 con that I feel obligated to mention.
LOCATION!! - Off the beaten path on a quiet road.
CLEAN & WELL STOCKED- The house was clean and well-kept & there are lots of amenities such as a washer/dryer in the basement, bicycles, beach chairs, dishes & cookware, plus a Keurig in the kitchen, & a grill outside.
PRIVATE YARD- Our kids enjoyed the backyard outdoor space to play & we enjoyed reading in the hammock.
PROXIMITY TO BEACH- There is a small waveless beach at the end of the road within walking distance. Gorgeous & tranquil. Beware of the mosquitoes at sunset though. They are no joke.
We used this faithfully to keep the sand outside. It was great to have!
The AIR CONDITIONER is NOT central air. Each bedroom has its own window a/c unit & they are quite noisy. The one in the room w/ the bunk beds is so loud when it kicks off & on, we had to turn off the a/c at night and just run the fan in this room simply so our kids could sleep. Not ideal when it's hot and humid outside. The downstairs of this home doesn't have air conditioning, except for a small window unit in the master bedroom at the back of the house. There were times when the house was quite warm due to its lack of air conditioning. And the noise from the a/c window units located in the bedrooms made sleeping at night troublesome.
This is a really lovely home, and we enjoyed staying here during the daytime, but the situation with the air conditioning units has to be noted because being uncomfortable at night during your vacation isn't ideal. I believe if the owners invested in newer, quieter, a/c units, this problem could be fixed and this property would easily deserve 5 stars across the board.
