Get away and relax in a one loft bedroom cottage with added bunk room and with 2 baths on Herron Island, a private island. In addition there are kayaks stored at North Beach, deer, seals and whales. Great for young families.
Located on a private island where you can enjoy a panoramic view of the Puget sound and the Olympic mountains from the large deck. The sunsets are beautiful all year round. The island is accessed only by a 15 minute ride on a private ferry (we will send you passes). The island is a little over an hour from the Seattle Airport. There are no stores or business on the island so bring everything you need for your stay. The home is located above and across the road from the Beach. It is about a 25 minute walk to the public beach at North Beach where the kayaks are stored. The large loft bedroom features a queen size bed and a separate bunk room with a full and twin bunk bed. Adjacent to that is a separate full size bath and laundry facilities. There is a 3/4 bath on the main level.. In addition the bedroom also has a full size futon which can be used for sleeping. It will easily accomodate 2 adults and 4 children. Enjoy meals out on the large deck with a gas grill (Propane is provided) and a large table and comfortable chairs. Inside the kitchen is fully equiped and the dining room can seat 6 or more. Because of the trees and no satellite reception we do not have Cable TV, but you can bring movies and use the DVD players. Their is no internet access, except via your cell phone. In addition there are kayaks, deer, seals and whales. Great for young families.

Guests are responsible for paying the Ferry fee to get on the Island and there is no fee to get off the Island. We will mail you Guest Passes for you to board the Ferry. Guests have access to the whole house and the front and backyards. Guests can also access the boat docks at North Beach, beaches, parks, and roadways. Kayaks are available for use and are housed at North Beach for easy access. (About a 10 minute walk) Life jackets and paddles are stored at a different location but we will bring them to you after you arrive. Our insurance requires all guests who use our kayaks to sign a waiver in advance. We will send it to you. Many people fish and crab off of the dock. Begin an island adventure: swimming, clamming, kayaking, beach-combing, hiking, and feeding the deer or simply find a quiet place to relax. If the time is right you might strike it lucky and see the Orca whales and the Humpback whales when they visit the island.

Hosts live offsite, but have a Hostess who lives on the island and is available most of the time if you need anything while you're on the island. You will have the house, grounds, beach, and kayaks all to yourselves. At the end of your stay you can call the Hostess and let her know you are leaving, but you can just follow the instructions and go, making sure you leave the keys in the lock box. Do a complete check so that you don't leave valuables behind. (Some have left wallets, cellphones, etc, but didn't realize it until they were across the island and had a difficult time getting back).

We are both retired and enjoy traveling. We have had property on Herron Island for the last seven years. We still permanently live in Kansas, but our daughter and grandchildren live in the Seattle area and this has given us so many opportunities to spend time with them. Otherwise we would probably only see them once a year. It has been a great place to build memories for them.
