I stayed at Sharda´s place for two weeks and had a very good time. She is a great host, very friendly, respectful of other people`s space, but also open to a little chat if the opportunity arises and very willing to give advise and tips when needed. The room is quite spacious for…

Stephanie, I am so pleased you had a positive experience and that you took advantage of the peace and quiet on this place. It was great having you around and it was a big plus when I was boarding the cats! You are the kind of guest that makes being an Airbnb host rewarding.
My friend and I stayed at Sharda's for 4 nights. Sharda was very communicative and gave us good instructions for check in and check out, which both went very smoothly. The flat has a lift which is helpful and the bedroom is air conditioned. Sharda was lovely, giving us our own sp…

The apartment building is new and has a great deal to offer in terms of cleanliness, spacious and well-lit entry and hallways, and a big backyard for those who want to have a cigarette or sit outside for a change of atmosphere. The decision to have shorter ceilings (therefore no overhead light in bedroom) was to accommodate a quieter living space in each apartment. However, there is ample overhead lighting in the bathroom to put on makeup. I don't think this is a big deal. As for cats and their little box, it is in a closet at the end of the hall. It smells only immediately after they've used it; and I clean it and sweep every day or every second day. None of that impacts the guest room, which has very good air conditioning and natural light. I was very forthcoming in AIrbnb messages that these kittens would be with me for the duration of your stay, and several times the reply was that it was perfectly fine. It is very common for subway trains to undergo maintenance on weekends. There are at least 6 other public transportation options to access from here. I clearly offered my help for anything you might have needed - but you never mentioned the issue of the train which could have been easily remedied. Space is at a premium in Manhattan, so for out-of-towners who have little experience being or living here, it might come as a surprise that living quarters are so enclosed. But the fact is it is large for NYC and I have no problem sharing my space with either 1 or 2 guests.
Unfortunately I didn't have time to spend with Sharda but she seems a nice person. The private room is big enough. The air conditioning works really well, however you can't open the window so you can't change the air. The bathroom is pretty small and it doesn't provide any window…

For those who have never been to New York City, or to the Lower East Side specifically, they would not know that apartments very often do not have windows in the bathroom and kitchen. This is very common. That is why there is a ventilation duct in each of those rooms. Many people tell me the bathroom is big. Again, it is sizeable and absolutely sufficient for one person. In addition, it is a new building, clean, well lit, with a large entrance, an elevator and a back yard. As regards the laundry situation, I told you several times that I could have the laundry card for you on Monday when I got home. You chose not to wait. And there is nothing in the agreement that says I have to pay for the guest's laundry, it is not included in the fee. It is separate. As it is, the card I loaned you had money on it and I gave you laundry detergent to use. I never said anything about either. Yes, the subway is a short walk. This neighborhood is removed from a lot of the noise and clammer of NYC, which is what makes it nice. There are 3 different buses that go to the subway from here. For a young person to walk a few minutes to the station does not seem like a stretch. As you say, "but since the price" I assume you mean the cost of the room. I am baffled by this, since the price is very reasonable. And I know for a fact that other rentals nearby are more money. For a short term rental in a very trendy neighborhood in Manhattan, the price is excellent.
I am a writer, Feng Shui consultant and an avid New Yorker. I have traveled much, lived in different places in the U.S. and abroad, and have a penchant for wholesome living. I created my space to be supportive and rejuvenating after a long day out and about. That is the experi…
