Cheapest place to stay in St. Thomas. Meticulously maintained '65 sail boat owned by non-profit. Beds for 10. Located in Charlotte Amalie Harbor, minutes from the airport. We have two listings for the same boat because multiple rooms are available.
Welcome to our home! We're excited to host you. SV Defy the Odds is a well-maintained sailboat owned by a non-profit, SailFuture. Your host will be Pluto Brown, a lively writer and entertainer who is excited to have some company. It gets lonely being on the boat by yourself!
Please see the boat layout in the photos section for available rooms. We provide sheets, pillows, blankets, and towels.
The price is $60 per person, per night and guarantees one bed. Rooms are assigned on a first-come first-serve basis. The boat will remain anchored in Charlotte Amalie harbor in front of yacht haven marina. Dinghy shuttle service will be available to and from shore at all times.
Please note that the boat will remain anchored. You are welcome to go around with Pluto for sunset dinghy rides, snorkel around the boat, hangout out all day in hammocks and sip cold drinks, and practice your front flips and free dives off the boat.
The boat is also available for private reservation for groups of 5-10. You can learn how to sail and travel anywhere you'd like in the U.S. Virgin Islands. This service is $130 per person per day, which includes all of your food and booze, a licensed captain, fuel, accommodations, and port / anchoring fees.

Our home is your home. Boat life is a little different than shoreside accommodations, so don't be afraid to ask questions about how things work.
You are welcome to store food in the fridge and coolers, charge phones and laptops, use both bathrooms, tan anywhere you like, and use snorkel equipment. Guests can drive the dinghy as long as Captain Justice is on board.

Your host is Pluto Brown, a crew member who sailed Defy the Odds more than 1,000 miles in the North Atlantic Ocean in the Canary Islands and Morocco. Pluto will be living on board with you and available to answer any questions you have, as well as provide scheduled dinghy shuttles to and from shore. If he is not on board, he will have a cell phone where you can contact him 24/7.
The boat is anchored in Charlotte Amalie harbor in front of yacht haven grand marina. We will meet at the marina office and take the dinghy from the dock to the boat. There are restaurants, bars, and shops all within the marina complex. A supermarket, fast food, and laundry are within a 5 minute walk.
The boat is anchored out front of yacht haven marina, a 10 minute taxi ride from the airport ($12). Taxis and $1 safari buses pick up in front of the marina, making it a great central place to travel to anywhere on the island.
Our sailing vessel is owned by a non-profit organization that utilizes sailing as a tool to transform the lives of at-risk youth. The boat was completely restored in May 2015, including all new beds, custom linens, floors, and paint. Please respect our boat and treat it as you would your own home. She is very special to us and serves an important role in our work with youth in the juvenile justice system.
Wenn du bis 24 Stunden vor deiner Reise stornierst, erhältst du eine volle Rückerstattung inklusive der Service-Gebühren.
