5 Nächte Mindestaufenthalt.
Massimiliano and his parents were extremely gracious hosts. We exchanged messages before my arrival and had prompt responses to all my questions. They came to welcome me at the ferry landing and were very helpful throughout the stay. Whether I come back to their place or not, I will definitely want to say hello if I am on the island again. The place is a traditional apartment in the center of the city. It is very quaint and charming. It is located Via Garibaldi, which is one of these narrow charming streets that we love so much in Carloforte, right across the central police station so we felt great leaving the windows open all the time. It is also just a 5mn walk to the ferry landing or the main parking lot. The layout of the apartment is really special with a huge hall-way, high ceilings, beautiful traditionally embroided curtains, a central bedroom opening to a small space with a skylight. Hard to describe. Everything is original. I loved it because it reminded me so much of my grandpa's traditional provencal apartment. But as traditional as it may be, it had brand new wifi and washing machine :-) Everything worked well, bedding was impeccable. I could also do some basic cooking if I felt like staying home. The city streets are very lively at this time of year, so bear in mind that one of the bedrooms will be exposed to some noise especially with the windows open. In these narrow streets, sound travels up easily. But nothing that closing the window or a good pair of earplugs won't fix. Beaches are minutes away by car, but I also saw a lot of people on bikes or scooters. Restaurants are plentiful, delicious and very reasonable. In the afternoon, you also have a choice of gelaterias who beat american ice creams any day of the week. Because the city is oriented east, having breakfast at one of the cafés on the harbor at the end of the street is a pure delight. There are small convenience shops everywhere, if you want a larger supermarket, there is a Conad at the north end of the Harbor 10mn away (on foot). Fresh produce, fresh pasta, cold cuts, and everything else you may need.
