Situated on the pastoral side of MDI, this secluded home sets atop a high spruce meadow knoll with a breathtaking view of Western Mtn and within walking distance to the sea. Its the perfect retreat for families and nature lovers visiting Acadia Park.
Situated on almost 12 acres, this diverse habitat of old meadows, apple trees, blueberry ground, cedar and spruce groves drew me right in. I've had a small garden business for years and hope to bring some of this land back to production in the future. Meantime, the location is superb. You'll feel nestled with Robbins Hill behind you on this private site, yet always, Western Mtn is before you and I'm reminded of a little Switzerland.
Within walking distance is Seal Cove Landing, a favorite place for kayaking, picnicking, and watching sunsets. Seal Cove Pond public boat launch is a walk to the bottom of the hill. Rent a canoe and paddle across to Park trails. Or on quiet days wander right here where osprey and eagles commonly feed by the outlet stream of the Pond or relax on a deck or hammock and watch the birds. Endless walking and running trails are either right out the door or a quick drive down the road, along with pristine fresh water swimming at Long Pond. The night sky is excellent here and can be seen moving throughout the night from the great room's high windows, Deer visit the apple trees and coyotes and owls can sometimes be heard. The previous owners very carefully created an oasis for wildlife, including a lovely pond where dragonflies breed.
When you're ready for adventure, culture, dining out or shopping, the surrounding area offers multitudes of opportunities. Bar Harbor is 30 min. away. Much less congested are Southwest Harbor (15 min)and Bass Harbor(10 min). with their array of take out and fine restaurants, bars, shops, galleries, libraries, massage, yoga, cruises, fishing trips, music and live theatre venues..golf.

Tho I will be working daily, I will return calls at least once a day, likely evenings, and be more than happy to answer questions about the house, activities, and services in the area. There will be information in the house as well. On Thurs. or Fridays, depending on weather, I may be maintaining gardens and lawns after 9 and before 5.
I also live on the property in the garage apt and can be available before 8 pm. I quietly leave very early, work, and am in bed early!
Please respect the house, land, and neighbors. Shut off outside lights when not in use to maintain night integrity.
There is no smoking or pets in the house.
Before checking out, dishes should be washed and put away, and the floors broom swept. Garbage and recyclables should go to the garage in separate containers as labeled. Keys should be left on the table.
Its important to check out by 10 a.m. so the house can be cleaned for the next guests.
