A very sweet little cottage with a beautiful courtyard garden - perfect for what we needed. It is ideally situated for walks in the countryside, and for day trips to the beach. Slapton and Torcross is walkable, or 3 mins in the car. Kingsbridge is 15 mins car drive, lots of lovely neighbouring villages, and Salcombe and the beautiful North Sands is about 30 mins drive. The Tradesman's Arms pub is a 1 minute walk from the cottage, and has a lovely pub garden. The pub does amazing food (try the steak and ale pie!!) and is dog friendly. We were able to sit and eat in the pub area with our dog. Staff very friendly. There is also The Church House Inn a few minutes walk away, which we didn't try, but looks lovely. There is a little farm shop and cafe about 10 minutes walk, which has everything you could want. The cottage itself had everything we needed including today's must have; wi-fi! You will need to take your own towels, but that is in the cottage description, so no surprises there. The only thing I would say is that the parking space pictured on the cottage's description, does NOT belong to the cottage. We weren't able to park there and a neighbour kindly explained that it belongs to somebody else. There are no spaces up the street at all, so we ended up parking right up the top of the street, on the road that runs along the top. Not an issue for us, but the property details are misleading in this respect, and if parking is a must have for you on your holiday, then you will need to know this. The owners were so very helpful - can't speak highly enough of them. We will definitely be returning soon!! A fantastic holiday and a fantastic cottage!!

We had a fantastic time at this little cottage its so cosy and in such as beautiful surrounding. The hosts were very helpful and answered any questions we had. the neighbourhood was lovely and everyone was so helpful the next door neighbour even told us the best beach's and places to visit near by which was lovely. We had a fantastic family holiday and would defiantly come again.

Our hosts made us feel very welcome. The photos are a good reflection of the cottage. The road where the cottage is situated is very quite, although on a steep hill. Please note there is no parking.

Thank you to James and Sarah for sharing your lovely holiday home. We had a great time. This is rather a long review, as we are your first airbnb visitors - hope it encourages others. Location - is great, very close to Torcross which means you can easily reach the Dart and Kingsbridge estuaries for great kayaking and much more. Check out nearby Start Point for lovely walks and Bee Sands for wonderful fresh seafood. However, be aware that a lot of rural Devon (including this cottage) is characterised by narrow singletrack roads - so not a good destination for nervous drivers and large caravans! Cottage - very clean, with a very well appointed kitchen and bathroom (large bath and shower combo tub). The small but comfortable front garden catches the sun in the morning - nice for eating breakfast outside. Heating works very well downstairs (and probably upstairs too but we did not try it). Wifi signal is excellent, including in the front garden. Well provided for drying wet clothes, either in the stone-flagged front garden or on one of the many hooks (much appreciated). Provisions - The kitchen had helpful little things like washing up liquid and salt and pepper grinders. Please check with hosts if they will provide towels. The wifi code is on the back of the router. Practicalities - An old and picturesque cottage - means low ceilings. Not really suitable for the less fit and those who frequently need the bathroom in the middle of the night! (it is downstairs, and the stairs are not that simple to navigate in the middle of your first night). The double bedroom is quite small and cosy, especially if you are tall like us, while the twin is larger and at the front with more windows. Parking: Parking outside the house is just possible, but likely to annoy the neighbours - the lane is very narrow and it's on a hill. We ended up parking right up against the hedge 70 yards up the road. (And you do need a car to get about.) Shopping and eating: The nearby pub has quite ambitious (and pricey) food. They were very nice. We recommend bringing food and/or shopping in Kingsbridge (Coop is open until midnight and Morrisons until 10 PM) or Dartmouth (large Sainsbury's on the road). There is no shop in Stokenham village (even for milk) and only a small shop in Torcross. Hosts - very responsive and helpful (by phone). In summary: the hosts have done a great job with this cottage. The four stars reflect its intrinsic limitations (space, access for less able people, parking). For most visitors these will be outweighed by the fun of staying in a lovely historic thatched cottage in a pretty Devon village. Hope this helps! Thanks again.
