A well equipped 2 bedroom suite, with modern conveniences and sleeping for 6, on a 20 acre section of the historic Moore homestead near Choteau MT. Close to mountains; on the way to Glacier National Park. Experience the 'last best place' in comfort!

Der Wohnraum

The Elk Suite at the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is located 23 miles NW of Choteau, at close to 5,000 feet above sea level, on a 20 acre section of the historic Moore homestead established in 1919. If you are looking to experience the 'last best place' in the Crown of the Continent, where the rugged Rocky Mountains meet the expansive Great Plains, this is it.

Many outdoor activities are at your door step, such as hiking, photography, running or biking. Also, there are over 1,000 miles of wilderness trails close by in the Lewis and Clark National Forest and the Bob Marshall Wilderness. Plus, there are fishing, hunting and skiing opportunities in season.

There are very few places to stay located on the Rocky Mountain Front. It is sparsely populated with plenty of wildlife viewing, including: mule and white tail deer, elk, many varieties of birds, grizzly and black bears, chipmunks, rabbits and squirrels.

For those times you prefer to be cozy and stay indoors, the interior is comfortable and inviting, with quality furniture, and fully-equipped kitchen. The area is very quiet if you are looking for some writing or other creative time.

The Elk Suite has high speed internet and flat screen TV for streaming from the internet, together with DVD players for watching movies.

High speed WiFi is available, as is a land line phone for local calls.

Introductory pricing from $145 per night (plus cleaning fee and taxes).

• The Rocky Mountain Front Retreat offers two suites: The Elk Suite and the Grizzly Suite.
• The Elk Suite (this site) can accommodate up to 6 guests.
• If you are interested in the one bedroom Grizzly Suite that can accommodate up to 5 guests, please see AirBnB numb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)
• If you would prefer both the Grizzly Suite and Elk Suite, which can accommodate up to 11 guests together, please see AirBnB numb(PHONE NUMBER HIDDEN)

The two suites are private and fully separated from each, joined only by a large common entry area containing the laundry and some reading/games materials.

The Retreat is located in the heart of the Rocky Mountain Front on the edge of wilderness, yet not too far from town. It truly is part of the Crown of the Continent.

Zugang für Gäste

The Elk Suite is a private suite with amazing Rocky Mountain and Great Plains views. If someone is staying in the adjacent Grizzly suite, the barbecue and patio area is shared as is the laundry area.

HOUSE RULES

1.Use: The Property is intended to be used for light recreational use. Motor vehicles are only allowed on established gravel roads to access the Property.

2.Good neighbors: Parties or other noisy activities are not permitted on the Property. Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is located in a rural agricultural/residential neighborhood and the Homeowner takes great care to maintain good relations with neighbors.

3.Children and others in need: The adults in the rental party are fully responsible for the children and others in need in the group.

4.Good order: The Guest agrees to keep the property and all furnishings and supplies in good order.

5.Gates: The Moore homestead where the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is located is used for cattle grazing in the early and late summer periods (except for the area behind the fence surrounding the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat). During these periods the gates must be left closed to keep the cattle out from the immediate vicinity of the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat as the cattle can cause damage to the building and services. Follow the old rule for rural travel: leave all gates the way you found them!

6.Firearms and outdoor fires: The Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is part of the historic Moore homestead. Firearm discharge is prohibited on the Moore homestead. Outdoor fires are also prohibited.

7.Smoking and pets: Smoking is not allowed on the Property (except on the outside concrete patio) and pets are not allowed on the Property except with prior agreement between the Guest and Homeowner.

8.Appliances: Only use appliances for their intended uses.

9.Utilities: Please use the utilities, such as propane and electricity reasonably. Our rental fees are based on reasonable use. No long distance calls are to be made from the telephone except with a calling card or collect.

10.Parking: Parking is limited to 2 vehicles except with prior agreement with the Homeowner. Vehicles are to be parked in the front gravel parking area only. Parking on the grass or other vegetation around the building is not permitted.

11.Housekeeping: There is no daily housekeeping service. While linens and bath towels are included in the Property rental, daily maid service is not included in the rental rate. We do not permit towels or linens to be taken from the Property.

12.Water and Septic system: Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is on a well and septic systems. The septic system is very effective; however, it will clog up if improper material is flushed. DO NOT FLUSH anything other than toilet paper. Also, please do not use products with bleach or other products that may affect the effectiveness of the septic system. Water to the property is provided by a deep well. Water is a precious resource in this arid country so please use it reasonably so the well can keep replenished for ongoing use.

13.Animals and Insects: The Rocky Mountain Front is part of a wilderness eco-system in a potentially harsh climate; that is part of its attraction! Wind, sun, rain, snow, wild animals (such as bears, mountain lions, elk and deer), mice, squirrels, chipmunks and insects are a part of that system. The most common animals and pests that may find their way into the Property include ants, flies, mosquitoes, and even mice (if the doors are left open for example). Please keep the screens closed on windows and doors while enjoying your stay but that will not necessarily eliminate all occurrences of pests or animals.

14.Access: Under normal conditions the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat is accessible by paved road except for the last mile which is gravel and a ‘two track' road closer to the Property. In the event of extreme weather such as snow storms that block access, Guests need to use their judgement to park along or close to the Teton Canyon Road (paved road) which is normally plowed by the county when possible and then walk/ski in to the Property. It is approximately 1 mile from the Teton Canyon Road to the Rocky Mountain Front Retreat, which can be dangerous in extreme conditions. Caution should be used up to the point of seeking shelter in Choteau or other location if it is not possible to safely access the Property (e.g. whiteout conditions). These risks are part of staying in the ‘last best place' on the Rocky Mountain Front. Please ensure there is sufficient food and water with you on your travels and at the Property to last beyond any extreme weather event. In an extreme case at the request of the Guest the Homeowner (including property manager) will attempt to work with the Guest (long distance) to seek the assistance of appropriate machinery to dig up access at the cost of the Guest.

15.Condition when leaving unit: Please:
•wash dishes before you leave
•put all garbage in the bins in the unit and make sure the lid is on tight
•remove sheets and pillow cases and leave them on the bed they were on

Laura and Aki's place has BREATHTAKING views of the Rockies Mountain front. It's 30 min out of Choteau town and absolutely worth the drive for the mountain view and the quiet. If you like wildlife, we saw a harrier and falcon just swooping by the living room window! The home itself is gorgeous and feels like a real get away cabin. The kitchen is spacious, has tons of crockery, cutlery and a dishwasher. A tip is that it might be a good idea to cook your own meals if you're lazy to drive into town. There's nowhere to eat out nearby, as we are so near the Forest trails. Most places close by 2pm for lunch. Bedrooms have a view of the mountain too. We had a wonderful stay and would recommend it to anyone. Thanks!

We fell in love with the Big Island in 2000 and built Hale E Komo Mai in 2011. Now we are building new memories with our family, friends, and especially our grandchildren. We look forward to coming back to Hawaii each year while continuing to explore this vast and beautifully diverse island.
