Paynesville is a village on the shores of the Gippsland Lakes, the largest and most picturesque expanse of inland waterways in the southern hemisphere, and is home to an abundance of marinas. It's often referred to as the "boating capital of Victoria" - there are literally hundreds of boats here.
Walk down to the Esplanade, drop in to a coffee shop for a drink or lunch and watch the activity on the water.
Stroll down to the ferry and travel the short distance across to Raymond Island and check out the koalas in their natural habitat.
The snowfields of Mt Hotham, the Buchan Caves, and the beautiful coastal towns of Lakes Entrance and Metung can easily be managed as day trips from Paynesville by boat or car.
Local bus line service meets V/line trains, and Bairnsdale CBD.

Nancy and husband Max are passionate about Paynesville having retired here in 2005 as Max was a keen sailor. They soon became involved in community activities as the local people are extremely friendly and helpful. Max runs a Square Dance weekly and both are members of a Steel Pan Band. Nancys interests are Vintage and Collectables, cooking and gardening. Both enjoy music especially jazz and Max loves old boats. They love Australia but have enjoyed travelling overseas mainly in Europe.
