Spencer was a fairly angry guest from day one. Rarely do we get airbnb users that expect modern hotel accommodations. He had 2 working coffee makers and was not aware one had a removable handle for cleaning that had to be clipped back on...still chose to be angry about not knowing. Our offers to show him were even unanswered. Since he could have just used the second one, we knew it was not about the coffee maker or air-circulation. After thousands of guests, we have not had any complaining about air quality. Being a second floor unit with 5 ceiling fans and 4 window a/c units, the air can be as cold or as circulated with the outside as desired. There are even air-purifiers in the unit. Needless to say, that was a particularly strange issue. The block is a very quiet residential street, as many past reviews cited. Over many years on airbnb we have had zero incidents, which seems to reflect the low-crime rating of the block. As a result, it seems futile in responding to issues when they are not rooted from a genuine place. The stairwell for instance, which is cleaned every few days, is not even inside the unit he is reviewing. Airbnb found no foundation to his claims, so any request for a refund was not considered. Race seemed to play a part in his anger and disdain for the neighborhood, as the very diverse block left him uncomfortable. I hope his anger subsides as he seeks accommodations in the future.
