Those romantic bioclimatic houses, the PINK and BLUE Cave Houses are built into the volcanic rock of Santorini. They are almost next door. Situated in the village of Oia, they are the ideal accommodation for an enjoyable vacation of tranquility and recreation. The sculpted rock architecture of the cave houses is unique and it has been beautifully decorated with inspiration and care by their owner, Maria Economou, a Greek sculptor and painter.
They are 40 steps away from the main road and 1-2 min walking distance from shops, restaurants, galleries, bus & taxi terminal. They are 5 min walk from the Cafe Bar Swimming Pool 'LIOYERMA' and 5 min drive from the sea.
1)The PINK CAVE HOUSE: has 3 bedrooms with traditional style built in or wooden double beds. One bedroom has a separate entrance from the rest of the house and it is on a different level. There are also a big living room, a separate kitchen, a bathroom and a large patio in three levels overlooking the Caldera, the volcano and the little island with the tiny St Nicolas’ sparkling white church. There is a fully equipped kitchen, a private shower-room and a veranda with panoramic view to the Caldera.
An outdoor hot tub, facing the blue sea and the Caldera, installed in the PINK Cave's garden will offer you the relaxation you are asking for! There is also a private outdoor shower surrounded by plants and flowers!
After a day of exploring the island, lounge on the cushions & pillows of the living/dining room and sip VINSANTO, the famous red sweet local wine, to re-energize yourself! The wine, presented in an oak barrel, is homemade by an old islander from his grape vineyards in Oia. The wine is made and offered to you with love! Candles and a selection of music are also available to complement this romantic setting. We hope the cozy ambiance will add to your cave dwelling experience. Just enjoy!!!
2) "BLUE & WHITE" Cave House
As you gaze at the deep blue waters of the Caldera you feel the calm breeze touch your heart and soul in a unique way. You certainly get a bird’s eye feeling over watching the cruise boats as they sneak from the cape and follow the sun all the way from sunrise to sunset.
Unlike most cave houses in Santorini, once you enter the "Blue & White House" you are surprised by the soaring heights of the curved ceiling. Spacey, roomy, well-lit, the house maintains a constant temperature throughout the year, providing a refreshing, cool welcome after a long day under the demanding Greek sun. Inside, the white color prevails almost everywhere. It will make you feel refreshed, calm and pure. The unique architecture of the cave house meets with art objects and airy furniture to please the senses.
There is one master bedroom with a with a traditional double bed. In the living area there are two traditional style built in twin beds for lounging or extra guests. The master bedroom is separated from the living area by a doorway and 3 small windows.The living room also provides a dining table and an extra long sofa for relaxing. There is additionally a small adjacent room to the master bedroom with a single bed. There is an indoor tiled bathroom with a shower and a second outdoor bathroom. The fully equipped kitchen faces the beautiful Aegean sea.
Outside, the spacious private terrace provides the stage for unencumbered relaxation staring the amazing landscape of the caldera. Your eyes feast on the view producing numberless private mental postcards.
Staying in the PINK and BLUE Cave Houses you will enjoy your breakfast/dinner at the romantic private veranda with panoramic view of the cities of Imerovigli, Firostefani, Fira and “Athinios” port on the edge of the Caldera, the volcano and the islands of Palia and Nea Kammeni.
Every now and then, tourists with their cameras in hand, slowly, quietly and respectfully glide down the steps passing in front of the porch of the house as if visiting a church. While they seek vantage points for their picture framing, you can distinguish their admiration for these two Cave houses when they smile and then turn to ponder the view.

The villas are located in the old city of Oia near the Castle which is the famous "Sunset Point" of Greece! They are also 5 minutes' drive from the three beaches that are near Oia. There are many exotic places to go swimming, sandy or with volcanic rocks, all over the island!
The rates include taxes and:
1) A welcome assortment of bottled mineral and sparkling water, wine and juice upon arrival.
2) Breakfast provisions: honey, butter, marmalade, milk, fruits, eggs, wheat bread, cereals, 3 kinds of coffee and tea, cocktail of herbs.
3) Daily maid service, change sheet, bath and beach towels every three days.

6) The cave house is 2-3 minute walk from the Pool Bar “Lyogerma”. You can swim for free and it is open all day long (May-Oct). It has the best view to the Sunset! You will be offered a 15% discount for your drinks and snacks.
7) By showing our card, you have discounts or free deserts to many restaurants in Oia and other towns in Santorini! For example a) You will be offered a bottle of Santorini wine with your meal at the most picturesque and tasty restaurant of Santorini "AMMOUDI restaurant" in the port of Ammoudi!
Zugang für Gäste
There are many exotic places to go swimming, sandy or with volcanic rocks, all over the island. One could go to Ammoudi, a very picturesque beach near Oia by going down a number of steps but the few little picturesque taverns compensate you.
If you hire a motorbike or a car, there are three beaches 5-10 minutes’ drive from home.

Hello! My name is Maria. I am a sculptor and painter. You are welcome to come and stay at my cave house on the beautiful island of Santorini, Greece! If you have any questions, feel free to ask!
Maria Economou is a sculptor and a painter. She was born in Athens.
She studied in the School of Philosophy, University of Athens, and graduated from the department of French Literature.
She also studied the English language in the Stanton School of English, London, Diploma in Proficiency, University of Cambridge.
In 1998 she enrolled in the High School of Fine Arts, Athens. Studied painting, drawing and sculpture up to 2004 .
In 1999 she was a doctoral student in the School of Philosophy - University of Athens. Subject:“Ideological trends in France from 1950 to 1970 and associated effects on Greek artists.”
2002 - 2004 lived in Paris and studied “Aesthetics and Art Theory” in the Ecole Nationale Supérieure de Beaux Arts de Paris with Professor Alain Bonfand.
2004 graduated from the High School of Fine Arts, Athens and in 2005 she gained her doctorate in the School of Philosophy, University of Athens.
Her book, under the title “Ideological trends in France from 1950 to 1970 and associated effects on Greek artists.”, published in 2008 by LIVANIS editions, was based on her doctorate research in France and Greece.
