This property with woodburning fire garden & patio and private parking to rear is situated in the heart of this picturesque fishing village. Beaches walks and local attractions at Castleward, ferry to outdoor aquarium at Portaferry and bus to local historical town of Downpatrick.

The area of Strangford Lough is one of outstanding beauty. Strangford village is a welcoming place for visitors. This property offers everything you need for a pleasurable stay.
This is a terraced property in the Main Street in Strangford village. It comprises of a small entrance hall and stairs to an upstairs bathroom and 3 bedrooms to accommodate 7. A travel cot is available on request for children 2yrs and under at no additional charge.

The upstairs bathroom comprises of a bath with attached shower head toilet and sink. Toilet rolls and hand towels are available in both bathrooms.
Sleeping arrangements are as follows;
Bedroom 1 - Set of bunk beds double on bottom and single on top - Overlook a private, pretty raised back garden;
Bedroom 2 - Double bed; overlooks front of property, castle street
Bedroom 3 - Set of bunk beds both singles
bedrooms - overlooks front of property, castle street.
Downstairs -
On the ground floor, the entrance hall leads to an open plan living room and kitchen.
There is a bathroom off the living room area comprising of sink toilet and large electric shower.
The kitchen is fully equipped with dishwasher cooker and fridge (no freezer at this stage), microwave and all utensils necessary for self catering.
The living room area is furnished with two settees and a wood burning fire.
This home is also centrally heated.
The back stable door leads to a yard and steps up to a patio area and pretty garden, beyond which is a parking area secured by double gates which lead into a country lane.
There are great scenic walks all around the area, ferry to Portaferry is a minute away as is the local bus stop taking passengers to shopping and exploring the historical town of Downpatrick.
Newcastle and the Mourne mountains are a short bus trip from Downpatrick as is the capital city of Belfast.

This property has 3 bedrooms and two bathrooms and can comfortably accommodate 7 people plus child 2yrs and under in travel cot.
This is a comfortable well furnished property. It has OFCH and wood burning fire. Electric smoke detectors fitted in all areas of property.
There is an electric shower in the ground floor bathroom and a bath in the upstairs bathroom.
A fire pit is available and a barbecue on request. Ironing board and iron are available in the property.
Bedding is provided but guests need own towels, with exception of hand towel provided in each bathroom.
The property has a raised good sized back garden and patio area with table and chairs, which is well maintained, and parking area to rear and double gates leading to back lane. Please note HAZARD for children is the small pond by the patio and steep stone steps.
Guests are greeted in arrival at the property or if preferred arrangements can be made for key to be collected, agreed in advance.

NB CHILDREN ESPECIALLY UNDER 5yrs to be supervised at all times as upstairs windows open out and outside the steps to the garden are steep and there's a small pond by the patio!!

Please don't be offended when you read these rules as for the majority of people, including yourself, they will not need to be stated but for others it may serve as a helpful check list. We simply wish to maintain the quality of the furniture and general fabric of the property, so guests who follow you will have an equally enjoyable place to stay. We are also concerned with health and safety which is reflected in these rules.
Consistent with Airbnb, rules will be made available on display in the property at some stage, but until then, the main rules are as follows:
Guests are asked to respect the village life and neighbours in adjacent properties
The only fuel that can be burned in the fire is peat briquettes (available in local shops) no coal!!!
Extra caution to be taken in steep steps to the garden;
Shoes to be removed before going upstairs in the property, to preserve the carpet;
Younger children must not be allowed in the top of the bunk beds and should sleep in the bottom bunks in the bunk beds;
There is a very small pond in the garden beside the patio and we would ask that young children are supervised appropriately and that the wire is not interfered with both to preserve the pond creatures and to avoid accidents with children;
We would appreciate if the bin bag in the kitchen bin when full could be removed and disposed of in the black bin at the top of the garden;
Bottles and recycling waste goes in the blue bin.
Please ensure if children are doing any artwork that it is on the garden table, patio area and not kitchen table to avoid damage,
food and drinks are eaten at the table to avoid staining of the leather settees.
The house has just been painted so please avoid placing bunk bed ladder against wall as it has metal part that will scrape the paintwork.
There is a vacuum cleaner, brush and pan and both mop bucket with mop and cleaning products in the property.
Please be aware of adjacent buildings as the sound travels.

This is a lovely property in the centre of Strangleford, convenient for the local area. We had a great stay here and Bernie our host went the extra mile to meet and give us the key, and to ensure the heating was turned up on one of the colder weekends of the year.

The house is right in the center of Strangford and has three great pubs/restaurants and a shop within 30 seconds of the front door. The house itself is old but has been recently renovated and and is perfect for a family. Berney was very welcoming and made sure we knew where everything was around the house. A great little house in a truly stunning location.

We stayed in Strangford to be near the Game of Thrones site at Castle Ward. It is a picturesque little port town and the apartment is right in the village center, which was an ideal location for this village. The apartment was small but adequate for five of us. Cute back yard, furnishings were ok, note though that towels are not supplied (which is in the description).Also limited dishes and cookwear for more than 2-3 people. We did not meet Berny but she was responsive and arranged for us to pick up keys from a nearby shop.

Pat I welcome feedback of any kind as we wish to ensure our guests have the most enjoyable experience. There is always room for improvement but I feel that you did not engage with me and your review is no surprise but I believe it's unfair. Firstly this is not an apartment but a 3 bedroom house with two bathrooms and a back yard and substantial raised back garden. Secondly contrary to what you have said my description specifically states that we do not provide towels. Thirdly the reason we didn't meet you is because you came at 7pm at night and Intook the troublebtonnegotistebwithnthenlocslnshopnkeeperbtonhold a key for you as you I had informed you we could not be available to be there at they time due to child care and work . At no stage did you request any additional utensils which we would have been happy to provide. I would suggest that it would be helpful to you and your host if you communicated your needs at the time and didn't save it up for the review. All the best with your travels.

What a fantastic 5 days we have just spent in Strangford at Bernie's! She was an exceptionally accomodating host, very responsive to messages and a pleasure to have done business with. We will definitely stay here again. Our accommodation was immaculate, centrally located in town so easy access to shops, bars, restaurants. The off road parking was an added bonus and the beautiful split level gardens meant we could have breakfast in the sun on our own private terrace - just gorgeous. This was our first experience with Air BnB and it was brilliant. On your doorstep is the National Trust's Castle Ward (Winterfell in HBO's Game of Thrones), Portaferry's Exploris, Delamont Country Park and Downpatrick (burial place of St Patrick). We spent a lot of our time simply swimming in the harbour, cycling at Castle Ward, Twilight cruising on Strangford, marine safari-ing around the harbour (when the tide was out), ceilidh dancing in the street, listening to traditional live music, meeting the Direwolfs from GoT, shopping with NI Silver and generally soaking up everything Strangford village had to offer during the Strangford festival. It was totally FAB. Thank you Bernie for looking after us, it was a true home from home and this made our family holiday so much easier. Our daughter Sophie did not want to leave your house so that's got to be the best compliment ever, lol. We'll be back again for sure. XXx

We stayed here during the Skiffie worlds rowing championship and we loved the place, it's situated in the center of this delightful little town,near the shops and the Inn and cafe's. Recommended

Nice holiday home in the lovely village of Strangford. Berny and John were very flexible and easy to communicate with. The house is quite roomy, with a large garden. Would definitely stay there again!

Hi I'm Berny in full time employment and mother of two. My husband and I got this property in 2008 and it was totally remodelled inside. Unfortunately due to other commitments we were. It getting to use it and decided it might be nice to share it.
Our family love Strangford for many reasons. It is picture postcard beautiful and has its own little microcosm of weather making it usually sunnier than where I live in Belfast.
The surrounding are is also great with lots of places to visit and a range of activities.
We love hosting as it's an opportunity not only to meet like minded people who'll love travelling. It also that its great to share our little gem of a holiday home.
I love photography and have taken a number of local shots here for you to view.
