My home - a stone house : comfortable sitting room with log burner, light-filled garden room, modern kitchen, two well-appointed double bedrooms , spacious garden with seating areas, parking space, cycle storage.

This is my home and hopefully provides a home-from-home feeling for you.

Cook in my modern kitchen on the range cooker, using the oils, spices, herbs, condiments and esential ingredients you'll find in my cupboards. Light some candles and eat at the table in the garden room whilst watching the sun go down over the garden that is alive with bird life. Or enjoy your meal at the garden table and if it gets a bit chilly light the chiminee on the patio.

Then stick the dishes in the dishwasher and relax in the sitting room on one of the two sofas. Light the log burner to keep off the chill or just for atmosphere. Perhaps watch television or a DVD player ( freeview and an Amazon Firestick available), play backgammon, dominoes or even senga or browse the internet.

Then retire to comfortable beds with Eygptian cotton sheets, plenty of pillows and down duvets.

Next morning enjoy a leisurely breakfast (breakfast items are provided; cereals (including gluten free), fruits in season, breads/pastries, free range eggs, local bacon and sausages, coffee, teas and juices.) before perhaps making the 10 minute walk across the river to Grassington with it's cobbled street, interesting shops which stock everything you need - and more.

The sitting room has two comfortable sofas, a television/DVD player with an amazon fire stick and freeview, a log burning stove.

The whole house and garden are at your disposal. The garden is on three sides of the house and is fairly secluded, especially in Summer. There is a parking spot in front of my garage and further street parking nearby. The house is at the very end of a quiet cul-de-sac so there is little traffic generally and none passses the house. Cycles can be stored in the garage or in the Summer house.

Hopefully I will be here to greet you and show you around but if I'm away on my travels I will have communicated all the details you will need.My mobile is always with me so you can call or email at any time (the wonders of modern technology!)

Threshfield sits just over the river from Grassington in Wharfedale, in the Yorkshire Dales National park. Threshfield was originally founded by the Angles and features in the Domesday Book. The Old Hall, a Georgian inn (still open!) which takes its name from the 14th century hall at the rear, was built by monks and is reputedly the oldest inhabited building in Wharfedale. On a small village green across from the pub the village stocks still remain.
Threshfield is home to Wharfedale Rugby Union Football Club who play in National Division One

Grassington with it's moor and lead-mining history sits on the hill across the River Wharfe. Grassington Folk Museum houses a collection which tells the story of Wharfedale. Grass Wood, an area of ancient woodland including the Iron-Age fort, Fort Gregory (also known as Gregory's Fort), is situated just over 3 miles (5 km) north-west of Grassington
Nearby Linton is a small, picturesque village set among a fine Vanbrugh almshouse, a pub and three stone bridges over its beck. Linton Beck runs down to the River Wharfe at the limestone Linton Falls, there bridged for walkers on a path up the Wharfe's north bank to Grassington.

Travelling up the Dale, within a five minute drive you come to Kilnsey with it's large limestone cliff called Kilnsey Crag, overlooking the road. The Crag is around 170 feet high, with an overhang of 40 feet and a favourite for climbers and fell runners. From Kilnsey towards Malham Tarn runs the historic Mastiles Lane, a Roman marching road, later an important drovers' way for Fountains Abbey flocks to summer pasture on higher ground, This is now a Dales walking track.
Then to Kettewell with it's wild flower meadows, Starbotton, and Buckden with the famous Pike walk.
There are innumerable circuitous walks and drives which take in many sights. I am happy to put together an itinerary based on your interests.

The nearest railway station is Skipton with a direct connection from Leeds and Bradford. There are buses up to Threshfield (timetables at (Website hidden by Airbnb) If I am around I am happy to meet you at the station. Buses also go up the Dale to Buckden.
There are numerous footpaths and bridleways and the Dales Way is on the doorstep.

If you want a rest from driving then there are many walks possible from the door - of various length and very different from each other. I have left ideas and maps for you in the garden room but I am also happy to put together an itinerary for you based on your interests. There are also buses to Skipton, Ilkley and Buckden.

There are leisure facilities (swimming pool, sauna, steam room, jacuzzi, treatments and gym) five minutes drive away (or a nice easy walk).

If you would like to eat out then there are nearby cafes and restaurants within walking distance or a short drive to suit all tastes. I will leave a list.

Grassington Festival takes place in June. It has been providing a lively and enriching cultural experience to residents and visitors for 35 years with its combination of performances, visual arts and live music. See previous lineups and this year's programme at (Website hidden by Airbnb)

In September Grassington also hosts a 1940s weekend. See all the details at (Website hidden by Airbnb) and in December there is the Dickensian Festival over three weekends.
