Isabel was a Great Host. We had privacy, were welcome with wine and traditional snacks, and when we left we got a ride to Sintra which was very friendly. The place has everything one needs to live. The location is very calm and ideal to relax holidays. You have 3 restaurants with immediate walking distance (-5min) and all are great. You have Azenhas and Macas beaches which are also walking distance (Macas is 15min. And Azenhas 5). In Macas you have more options in terms of entertainment but is way more touristic. You have a bus stop very near which can take you all the way to other beaches and beautiful Sinatra. We had a great time and will definitely come back.
Isabel is a great host! She made us such a cordial welcome, and we felt just fine all the time. It all was really nice, we had a good holiday time. The little house/bungalow is simple but with everything you need. In the evening, we sometimes sat outside in the wonderful, green garden to have dinner and to enjoy the sunset above the atlantic ocean. The house is located very well: a mini-mercado ("O Filipe") just one min. walk down the street, the sea and little beach in a five min. walk nearby, also a nice beach bar and a little café (called "A Prancha. Azenhas Spot") with good coffee, delicious portuguese pastries and selfmade sandwiches -- and an amazing view on the bay of Azenhas do Mar (really good for breakfast). The beautyful city of Sintra and its green hills are just a short car-drive away; nice, little markets with local food etc. on the way. We also did a dolphin-watching-boat-tour in Cascais (d(URL HIDDEN) and went on trips to Lisbon. In short: great spot to spent your holidays. Absolutely recommendable!
Isabel is a super friendly host, determined to give you lots of privacy and being available for help and answering questions at the same time. Small gifts and attentions (a bottle of wine, bread, cheese, fresh herbs and figs from the garden, towels to take to the beach) made us feel very welcome. The cottage itself is located right next to her own house, but the surrounding trees and plants, the wonderful terrace/garden and view on the ocean made us really feel like we had a home of our own. The cottage has a good size bedroom, living room and (open) kitchen. It's also really well equipped with everything you need for a longer stay. The wood stove and bathtub are great assets; some of the late september evenings were a bit chilly, but it's very cozy inside. Azenhas do Mar is a beautiful place, very quiet and relaxing and the scenery with its rocks, cliffs and green hills is amazing. We took walks to other beaches (all of them beautiful), but the big advantage of the one down below the village is that it has a "natural" pool allowing you to take a dip in the otherwise quite intimidating ocean water. The incoming tide is nothing short of a spectacle, and there's a small beach bar to enjoy a glass of wine while watching it. We bought our groceries at the local super market, it has everything you need for breakfast and home cooking. There are two bus lines between Azenhas do Mar and Sintra, and other connections nearby. All in all it's a very convenient, comfortable and charming place to stay. Highly recommendable!
After a cordial welcome with fruits, cheese, wine and bread, we spent a lovely week at Isabel's premise. The place is right by here family home but we had privacy all the way. The village is really calm, relaxing and friendly. Perfect beaches for the ones not too afraid of waves and cold water. Would love to come back!
Isabel welcomed us to the peaceful haven of her house with lovely local wine, bread and cheese. The house had everything we needed including for a comfortable stay which was made even more pleasant by mint from Isabelle's garden and her paintings which decorated the walls. The location was perfect for beaches and drives to Sintra with good local restaurants and a fish market. The amazing Atlantic coast was stunningly beautiful to look at but a little intimidating for swimming (a surfers paradise). Overall a great place to relax and explore the beautiful countryside and coast.
