Der Wohnraum

Cozy, quiet, artistically appointed basement apartment in great NE Portland location. Fully furnished with a comfortable queen sized bed. I am located on the bike route. Located on a quiet street within walking distance to the trendy neighborhoods of Alberta Arts and the Mississippi Corridor. The up and coming North Williams Avenue is 3 blocks away. Near the bus line. A relaxing retreat from the excitement of Portland. Funky, clean, uncluttered, private apartment.

500 square feet, interestingly laid out dwelling. Two large spaces include the kitchen/dinging room/ media or writing desk. Bathroom has a shower, toilet grotto with reclaimed fir magazine caddie and shelf that holds rocks collected on Cape Cod. The back area consists of a 12’x24' open room with bedroom and living room with another desk for writing, media or thinking. There is a comfy queen bed. Private hang out area with chairs and table is just outside entry.

The neighborhood is really great. I have lived here for almost 20 years and have witnessed this place change and flux with the times. While the gentrification has been great for families, businesses (and property values), I am glad that my street has maintained a sense of community and diversity that makes me glad to be a human.

It is located between Alberta Arts and the Mississippi Corridor (a ten minute walk in either direction.) These are two very hot and fun areas for eating, drinking, shopping or people watching. There is a seasonal local farmer's market every Sunday just 3 blocks away.

My street is also on a bike route. Portland has a vibrant bicycle culture and has mapped out routes that take you safely all over the city. I will have two basic bikes for use free of charge at your own risk. The #6 bus line is at the end of the street and the house is close to I-5. There is parking in front of the house.

The apartment has a private entrance with a driveway patio hang out area. It is a basement apartment and is quiet, clean, artsy, esoteric. I created it a year ago and lived here for a year before Air BnB. I found it to be a nice calming space. Most of the woodwork is reclaimed material. All windows are new and insulated. The lighting is an eclectic collection of random coolness that my friend (and professional lighting designer) threw together for me. The place turned out to be a perfect manifestation of my vision. A unique and comforting abode, which I hope you will enjoy visiting.

I do not allow pets. I have a small dog, Pico. He stays with me half the week and is pretty mellow. He does bark on occasion but I try to curb that.

I have enjoyed living in this neighborhood and house. There is much to be explored within walking and biking distance, as well as easy access to the routes that take you off to see the splendors of this amazing part of the country.

Zugang für Gäste

Separate entrance, hangout area, two vintage bikes with accoutrement, hairdryer, iron, cooking apparatus, fake fire place log with "real wood crackle" sound, my book collection (please leave on premises).

Interaktion mit Gästen

I like to meet everyone if possible. But also respect your privacy. Depends on the guest. Some people want some interaction while others prefer to just do their thing. I've met some amazing people.

Weitere wichtige Infos

The fireplace is temperamental, so I have put in a fake log which lights up and can make crackle sounds. Cheesy goodness

This was an absolutely magical place. Margo is a wonderful, warm, respectful and thoughtful person. The space itself was perfect - perfectly perfect. It was snuggy and inspiring. I could easily write my whole thesis in this sanctuary! I envy everyone who gets to stay here!

Margot was great and the Artisan Sanctuary was exactly what we imagined: beautiful and relaxing. A short distance from both Mississippi and Alberta, the location of Margot's place was perfect to check out live music, art, bars, and of course the famous food trucks. With a full kitchen stocked with orange juice, yogurt, and Stumptown coffee, Margot made our stay comfortable, and I would highly recommend her Artisan Sanctuary to anyone looking to explore the Portland area.

Great location on a quiet street. Kitchen has everything you need to start the day - Stumptown coffee and homemade bread. Notebook of nearby restaurants was helpful. Plenty of towels, blankets and pillows. Margo is an awesome host and we enjoyed the Artesian Sanctuary.

The Artisan's Retreat really feels like a home. Wonderful shower, cozy sofas and bed, and even a selection of waffles in the freezer! It allowed us to rest and recover after exploring and eating our way around Portland. Easy check in, very private, and very convenient location (never waited more than a minute for a Lyft ride). Margo was super nice and accommodating. I would definitely stay here again.

This little sanctuary is true to its name--lovely little accents, cozy lighting and very hygge. Coffee, tea, light breakfast goodies made it super homey, great book selection to rifle through and read aloud. The flat terrain around NE Portland is super kind to cyclists and Margo's bikes were nice and vintage. Neighborhood is close to Mississippi and Alberta, with a small market on the corner and a no-frills bar around the corner as well :) Felt safe walking around at night! perfect home base for Portland adventures

Carpenter, Artist, Traveler, Free Spirit. From the Boston area. Currently living in Portland, OR. I love the Cape so much!

I built this, my dream home, on the last sliver of my grandfathers property. I grew up going to the cape every summer. This is truly a magical and peaceful place and I hope you enjoy it as much as I do.
