Adriana and her family were very welcoming. Everything we needed was provided including toiletries and drinking water. Bed is super comfy and renovated bathroom was very nice. Sarah's favorite was the sink which was a pop of traditional Mexican ceramic art. We didn't make use of the fully equipped kitchen (incl. fridge and microwave). And since we are dog lovers, we enjoyed playing with Lila and Marco, the resident dogs. The area is quiet and since you're surrounded by trees and a waterfall nearby, its generally cool and relaxing. On top of it all, Adriana assisted us on inquiring bus seat availabilities going to Guadalajara. If you are looking for something calm and close to nature with proximity to convenience stores and just a few blocks down to taquerias, that's the place to be in PV. Highly recommended!

A budget place to stay in PV but a little too isolated for my liking. The host family are fantastic and very accommodating!

Stephen, thank you for your stay. What most people like about the Mountain Apartment is that it is isolated and away from the hustle of Old Town but close enough so you can walk to Old Town when you want some action. The name says it all "Mountain Apartment get away near Old Town PV"

Thank you to Jeff and Adriana, for an amazing stay. The place is absolutely perfect and as described. We had everything we needed. Communication leading up to, and during the trip, was super fast, and clear, and any questions I had were answered quickly and clearly. I would recommend this place and definitely stay there again.

The owners of the place were extremely helpful in any respect. Despite our old age (76 !) and the injury from my recent cycling accident in Vancouver we managed to get our luggage up and down the many steps with the help of Adriana and her parents. They even supplied us with drinking water for the whole week of our stay so we didn't have to carry it up.... A nice setting close to the Playa de los Murtos - a short walk down from the hills. Lots of birds and butterflies to enjoy from the open air kitchen and deck. We will come back for sure !

First of all, I'd stay here again in a heartbeat. Adriana and her family and Pvkid (aka Jeff) were all very friendly and hospitable when I saw them. Jeff was quick to reply to any questions I had before I started my trip. The place kind of has the best of both worlds in that it's both secluded (walking the equivalent of an extra 2-3 blocks gets you into a quiet, jungle-like canyon where this apartment is situated) and very close to restaurants and nightlife down the hill. If you happen to be in the apartment on a Friday, it will be noisy on that night only from music at a hotel bar down the canyon, but it will be over at 11:30pm. On other nights that late, you'll probably just hear birds, pets, occasional cricket-like noises, rustling leaves and some voices you'd expect with other houses around you with open balconies. I walked home from the central area of the Zona Romántica every night (or morning) and found the road up to the footbridge to Adriana's house surprisingly well-lit compared to other residential streets a few blocks closer to town. Based on the description photos and reviews, I brought along a flashlight to help me get my bearings on the first couple of nights, and I found it useful but not essential. Adriana showed me the switches for lights for the outdoor walkway from the bridge up to the gateway of her house where her friendly, non-barking dogs sometimes greeted me. If you've never been to Puerto Vallarta before, you'll learn very quickly that there are steps and stairs all over town. For the Mountain Apartment especially you'll be adding more steps to your daily routine, including some very steep steps up to the 2nd floor of Adriana's house where the apartment is located, and I'd recommend you do what I did and use a backpack-type suitcase -- not a heavy rolling suitcase. My favorite part of staying at the Mountain Apartment was making my own coffee after I woke up each morning and drinking it while seated on a stool in the open walled kitchen, just watching the birds and pretending I was in a tree house. There's a microwave and hotplate, frying pan, pot and surprisingly well-stocked kitchen (melon-baller/ice cream scoop included!), so I guess you could cook your meals if you insisted; but since there are so many great, reasonably-priced places to try just down the hill, I ate all my meals out -- with the exception of my first coffee. I noticed one of the earlier reviews mentioned an issue with hot water followed by Adriana's note that they had installed a new heater, and I'm confirming here that the apartment, indeed, has great hot water and a nice big shower. The bathroom also has extra shelves under the sink and to the right of the sink higher on the wall to store toiletries, extra water, etc. I stayed there at the end of January...
