Although we never really met Elvina, we met the volunteers like this awesome french guy (I'm sorry, I forgot his name) and a lovely lady named Emily from Melbourne who made our stay a lot easier; everyone in the hostel were heaps friendly and we got to meet quite a few internationals and a few from interstate. The bed was great, the place was nice and different, the guys and girls were great, and we had almost everything we needed (although as a big and broad fellow, i reckon the showers and the toilet were a wee bit tight to get in on.) We liked the guys around and te overall environment so much that we gave a box of a dozen cheese puffs from Porto's. We left a little Aussie and Philippine flag on the chalk board because we wanted to commemorate our stay, cheers guys! From the Aussie & the Brit, Kev and Jet of bed 13 & 14

A BRILLIANT concept! I arrived at the Los Angeles Airport (LAX) on a late night flight & only needed a place to crash for about 6-7 hours before heading off to business meetings in DTLA. By utilizing Podshare, I didn't have to disturb family/friends in the middle of the night, I was able to get to bed faster considering how close I was to the location, & I saved from having to pay for a hotel room that I'd only occupy for a few hours!! The location was a mere 2 minutes ride from Union Station & parking was no problem. The place was neat, clean & quiet! Early in the morning everyone was quiet while getting ready for their respective days & considerate of the fact that others were still sleeping.

Great, cost-effective hostel-style accommodation. Clean, all the amenities you need, and aesthetically pleasing too. The staff was welcoming and very helpful. The other guests were aged 18-30ish, and were friendly (if a little loud at 3am one night, but hey it's a hostel). Would definitely use again!

I came to see LA for the first time, and visit an old friend. This Podshare was the cheapest place around that I could book for 3 days, so I went ahead and decided to give it a try without knowing where it was exactly located to anything else in downtown LA. Initially, I wondered about the place being mostly managed by what the Podshare website advertises as "Millennials." They make a big point to advertise about how it's a product of the Millennial generation and how they want things different and this way and that way and you can get a Podshare tattoo and etc. That, actually, was what made me skeptical. I'm 26 years old, and qualify as part of the Millennial generation, but I'm not interested in embracing and idealizing that title like many of my peers do. So, I still decided to give it a shot. I was pleasantly surprised, because although the place was indeed run by volunteers my age, it was a decently well-constructed semi-industrial space in an artist loft outside the Art District. - Easy to walk anywhere downtown (I even walked to Echo Park about 45 minutes) - Clean, looked maintained, comfortable kitchen - The bathroom and showers were slightly cramped, but nothing that big of a deal. - Available lockers, comfortable beds, great variety of people coming through - Noticed multiple new-ish cameras all around the palce, which was great for security I ended up having an excellent time. The woman working (named Whided, I believe) was calm and easy to ask questions, and I felt safe leaving my stuff on my bed while I walked around LA. After a long day of exploring LA, it was really relaxing to come back to the Podshare, make food, chat a bit with people I've met, and go to bed. It's a good experience! (URL HIDDEN)

My friend and I stayed at this podshare for 3 nights while we were in town for a concert. It's basically one big hostel room filled with individual pods. There is also a common room, kitchen, and 24 hour work room. Given that it's one big room of course there wasn't much privacy and sometimes noise would wake me up, but thems the facts of hostel life. It was clean, the kitchen had essentials, and the showers were filled with community shampoo/conditioner/soap so no need to bring your own. Everyone was super nice and we loved being so close to Little Tokyo. Definitely go check out the James Irvine Garden, the Japanese American National Museum, and grab some delicious food. There are a bunch of breweries within walking distance as well. Overall, we were very happy!

I've lived in LA for 12 years, am president of my neighborhood council, freelance production jobs (camera op and editor), but best of all, I co-live at PodShare.

PodShare is a live/work community across multiple addresses, where staying at one location grants you access to our other locations for the duration of your stay (during the hours of 10am to 11pm) to share common areas like co-working tables, kitchen, showers, lockers, WIFI, bikes, computers, green screen, sound booth etc. in Hollywood, Downtown LA (Arts District, Venice Beach and Los Feliz.

PodShare is an open community, but if you are seeking a private and pet-friendly option, click on my profile for an apartment on Hollywood Blvd.
