Changings come at the turn of the season, warm weather, departures, and the sun burning the fields in the ancient land of Cuma. This was, I guess, the picture, as Dedalus landed on the desolate beach thousands years ago, alone without his sun-burnt-son, lost in flight.
In casacuma ghosts from history are still around.
Casacuma, a house in the ancient buried town of Cuma, Campi Flegrei, was born in 1996 as a refuge for artists/ friends looking for a new dimension for living and reconsidering the concept of community and as a permanent workshop for growth and creation;
throughout these years has welcomed many travelers from all over the world: musicians, archaeologists, bicycle voyagers, backpackers, just friends.
The house also is the headquarter of Orpheus association, Popular Culture Centre of Cuma.
Concerts, workshops, happenings, meetings from music to theatre, organic agriculture, eco-politics, natural therapies happen here.
Casacuma also survives as a sort of libertarian hostel, with a little contribution for the survival of the house... We fear that freedom of travel is one of the things at risk in historical periods like this, and we hope to be a safe and welcoming place for travelers.
Our guests will also be guided in unusual archaeological and ethnological itineraries, such as our traditional festivals with their archaic forms of dance and music.
Our guests are also welcome to give a help in our daily activities in the vegetables garden and in case of open events...
