The wife and I both have been with the entertainment and outdoor recreation/travel industry for a good share of our long lives. Currently, we're both are in our 60's and have many tales to tell and experiences to share but, only if you have the time and concern. We can physically show you places or just guide you to them.

We really have done much and have seen quite a bit, being as we have 100 years experience, between the two of us touring the West Coast of the United States as extremely curious Southern Californians of the outdoor type. Whether it be a weekend daytime experience to a huge indoor/outdoor 3-band biker-bar that's hidden out in the hills with hundreds of earth shaking Harley's and hang with the roughest, toughest, Harley dudes you've ever seen in your life or you may want to experience a murder-mystery dinner-party theater with audience participation or an exclusive engagement to a coat 'n' tie, exclusive, "Members & Guests Only" to the world famous "Magic Castle" of Hollywood and dine with some of the worlds greatest illusionists or enjoy a free guest-pass admission to the city of Irwindale Speedway's "Night of Destruction" where you will witness the worlds only automobile "Skid-Plate" race as well as the largest demolition of RVs (motorhomes, campers, trailers) etc.

The wife and I own this cozy little house in this clean, middle-class neighborhood.
Our house has been owned by our family since it was purchased new, in 1946.
The wife and I have lived in it, ourselves, since 2003.
We are fortunate in many respects. First of all, we have the best neighborhood you could imagine. We love our neighbors. They're the the best in the West. We exchange Christmas and birthday gifts with them.
Our neighbors are all super friendly to our AIRbnb guests. They all are families who have been homeowners in the neighborhood for an average of 27 years. One could not ask for better neighbors! Please, be respectful of them as they surly will of you. Give ‘em a friendly smile and a wave. Let them know you are friendly, as well.
If you are driving, please try to park directly in front of our house. Out of respect, our neighbors usually try to leave a space open for our guests - if at all possible. If you cannot find a space directly in front of our house, just give me a call and I will move my car around back and you can have my space.

Street sweeping parking restriction:
Do not park across our street on Mondays between the hours of 10 AM and 1 PM.
Do not park on our side of the street between the hours of 10 AM and 1 PM Tuesdays.

Probably the next best thing about our location is the climate in this particular section (The Gardena Valley) of Los Angeles county. It is cooler in the summertime, than most of the rest of the Los Angeles area. We're very fortunate in that here in the South Bay Area we experience a very nice, mid-afternoon sea-breeze and sunshine in the early morning hours, opposed to the overcast mornings that are so common to the areas closer to the beach.
Thirdly, the proximity of our home to the best attractions that Southern California has to offer. We live in the center of it all of it! - just minutes from LAX but not in the noisy flight path.

Our space is in the absolute best proximity, to all southern California attractions. We are centrally located, directly between Disneyland and Hollywood, between Knotts Berry Farm and Universal Studios, between the Hollywood Sign and the best beaches in California. In fact we are only 10 minutes from world-famous Redondo Beach which is next to Hermosa Beach which borders Manhattan Beach. Each one with their own world-famous pier which stretches out over the water. We are five minutes away from Larry Flints newly purchased Lady Luck Casino and 5 min from his world-famous Hustler Casino both located right here, in the city of Gardena. Incidentally the Casino food is not bad for the price, either. sometimes we just go there to eat. We are only 12 miles from downtown Los Angeles. We are only a 20 to 30 minute ride from the Santa Monica Pier which is at the foot of Route 66 and famous Venice Beach (or "Muscle Beach") with its Boardwalk and Venice canals.

If you need transportation, we will gladly drive you anywhere your heart desires for a reasonable fee. Your host is a licensed, professional ride-share chauffeur with a perfect driving record. Please see "getting around".

More about the neighborhood:
It's just recently been upgraded with a full-on supermarket, less than a block away. Even closer is a movie theater, a gourmet Italian restaurant, a gourmet coffee shop, a postal service business, a pizza house and within two minutes you can walk to, which is my favorite, a large discount variety store, The Dollar Tree, where nothing cost more than a dollar and across the street is a small Mexican restaurant. There's even food trucks and a fresh fruit stand just minutes walking distance.
From our house, you never have to walk more than one block to have everything you need to live comfortably.

I'll supply bottled drinking water although the tap water is safe to drink; I supply toilet paper, paper towels and all the cleaning gear that you may need including dish soap, laundry soap, Oxy Clean, bleach etc. The use of the washer and dryer are free and conveniently located in the kitchen area. Please remember to change clean the dryer filter after each use.

I've been told that I should raise my rates for all that I provide and the reason I don't is simple - I feel that in comprising the inquiry rate, to my acceptance rate is currently at perfect balance. I prefer to keep my rates low to keep my units occupied and my guests happy.
Before I give the "okay" for a person to reside with my wife and myself, on our property, in our home, I have a few questions to ask or, at least, I like to check the reviews previous hosts, of my potential guests, and what you have to say about their self. I do not employ "instant booking" because I am a particular person and desire to have guests that prefer and respect my choice of a little extra, fine-filtering. Although, we are obviously not prejudiced, as you can see by the history and feedback of previous guests, the quality of my guests is important for peace and tranquility.
Also, I would like to emphasize that this is a "house-share" and not a hotel, nor is it a Motel 6, as the one down the street where a single person is charged $89, per night, to reside. There is no maid service. Everyone pulls their own weight and cleans up after their self in a timely manor and in respect to others.
Please, leave the kitchen and bathroom as you found them, or, better yet, as we were taught, as kids, in "scouts"; "leave the place cleaner than you found it".
In the bathroom, wipe down the water spots, at least on the one sliding door and wipe-up the loose hairs anywhere you see them.
This is one reason you chose to use AIRbnb, over a hotel or motel.
It's to save on expenses - correct?
I can usually answer an inquiry within minutes, unless I'm out driving or I'm in a deep sleep and can't hear the App sound off.

Strict checkout time is 11AM. If you have extra, free time before your flight out and you want to stay and lounge around, you're certainly welcome to, outback by the barbecue but, I need 2-3 hours to the room, by myself to clean, defrost the mini-fridge, clean and dry the carpet and wash the bedding etc. before the arrival of our next guests that may be here as early as 1:00 or 2:00.

We have uneven surfaces and narrow passageways around the property. It is not practical for the use of a wheelchair or walker. Use a flashlight at night when entering or exiting the property.
Guests are to remove shoes before entering the house - this rule is strictly enforced.
Guests may use a second, clean-soled pair of shoes or sandals/slippers (for inside-only-use) if desired. I, myself just walk around the inside of the house in my socks.
If guests take the kitchen-use option they need to wash, dry and put all eating utensils back in the drawer or cupboard, in a timely manner or simply use the paper-ware and plasticware (provided by me) and toss them in the trash when finished.
The somewhat clean, used plastic and paper ware products go into the recycling can.

We do not provide maid service. You are your own maid.

Please leave the kitchen and the bathroom just as you found them when you first walked in to the room.
Please do not leave splashed water or hair lying around the bathroom including the shower stall. Make sure you check for loose strands of hair that have fallen on the floor, the sink, around the tub etc.
Use the paper towel's or rags that are provided to dry any lingering water then dispose of them in the proper containers. Please use one of the small, water-spot rags that are draped on the shower door and toss it in the clothes dryer, along with the large floor towel on "hot" for 20 minutes.
A damp paper towel works great to pick up loose hair.

Clean up after yourself, leave the kitchen and bathroom as you found them, before you started to use them, please.

This is not a hotel - You are sharing a private home and the responsibility of light cleaning, thus the lower rate for residing here.

If food drops on the floor or carpet, pick it up and wipe the spot with a damp paper towel. I sweep the floors when needed and wax them. You're not expected to do any heavy cleaning. Basically, just clean up after yourself before you leave the rooms. Leave minimal trace that you used the room (kitchen & bathroom).

When you break something, let me know so that I can replace it. You'll not be charged for accidental breakage.

Always lock the screen door behind you when you enter or exit the house, even for a short period time.
This rule is also strictly enforced as it is our number one priority is safety and security.
Always close the side gate completely after passing through.

The refundable key deposit is $20. If a key is unreturned at check-out the locks will be changed, immediately and the locksmith charges me $200.

There will be a mandatory I.D. check upon guests arrival! We do not allow unbooked/unregistered guests on the property, violation leads to immediate nullification. It's really a shame that the minor details must be listed but, this has been an ongoing problem since we've started this adventure.

The bottom line is....have the utmost respect for others sharing this home.
The rules need not be memorized if one would just use basic. common sense.

If there's any servicing, upkeep, cleaning, replenishing that you see, please notify me immediately. I try to keep on top of things but occasionally things are overlooked and I would like to rectify the situation as soon as possible.

The rules are mainly to respect the guests in the house, to make for the most enjoyable stay for all.

Gary's place was convenient for me to commute to and from work. The place is clean, quiet and covers all the basics (comfortable bed and clean sheets, a table, a chair, a closet, drawers and windows). Gary is also friendly and quick to respond to any communication. However, there is no common area, which would have been convenient for eating.

Gary was a really nice host and attentive to making my stay as welcoming as possible. The refrigerator in the room was a plus, and the bed was super comfortable. The room was very clean and the desk was a plus because it gave me a place where I could sit and eat. The kitchen was fitted out with everything needed to prepare a meal, gas stove and toaster oven and Vitamix It is a bit close quarters with two other long-term renters and one bathroom, but all went smoothly and the ambiance was quiet. There is a new Aquasana water filter attached to the kitchen sink faucet so top quality filtered water is available. One of the more competitively priced Airbnb. This accommodation is well suited to the solo traveler. The neighborhood is safe, and parking was available near the house every night during my stay. The cats are excluded from the house, they stay outside which is good. I enjoyed my stay and would consider staying there again.

Interaction with guests, or not, is totally up to the individual guest. We don't live in the house ourselves and normally don't use the facilities of the house because we have our own RV just out back that we live in. We are conveniently close but we're not hovering over you. We can usually tell when our guests want privacy or not but, if you want to make sure that we know that you prefer privacy, just speak up.

We can drive you around but it wont be free. It WILL be worth every penny, though, especially with both of us as your tour guides.
