What an enchanting place! Asuka is a beautiful village in Nara steeped in history and rich in culture. If you want to enjoy the simple beauty of this Japanese countryside, I could not recommend any place better than Suzukaze-An.
We were traveling with my 10 month old baby, and the host graciously prepared some items to keep her happy. Although it is a cozy traditional home, it's clear that the host took care in upgrading the fixtures. The kitchen and bath were convenient and modern. There was air conditioning throughout the home, and we stayed warm during our brisk spring stay. The wood bath held wonderful views of the countryside, and even those of us who normally don't take baths had a nice relaxing soak. At night time, the babbling Brook behind the house lulled us to sleep, and in the morning, chirps of nightingales stirred us awake.
We took a refreshing walk into the mountains in the morning. During our April stay, the cherry blossoms were in full bloom, so the baby, husband, and I sat underneath the cherry tree on some stones and the spring breeze showered us with flower petals.
In short, our stay was absolutely perfect in every way. We will definitely be staying here for longer next time!
Just one note : it's highly recommended that you bring a car, as it is a bit away from stores.
