Weitere wichtige Infos

Paddler's Lane does have cell service. Verizon has a tower and very good reception and AT&T has a tower which will be operational in fall of 2014. Other carriers generally have decent reception via the Verizon tower. Confluence is a very small town, about 400 people, so it doesn’t have big town amenities. It does have a gas station, car repair garage, bank, post office, cycle shop, river outfitter, grocery store, pharmacy, vegetable market, day spa, hardware store, churches, a dollar general and other small town amenities.  It has several restaurants and cafés. If you visit during the off season several of these dining establishments will have limited hours or will be closed so during this time you may want to consider going farther afield or opt for the more limited selection in town. All in all you should be able to get any of the basics that you need here. If you find yourself in need of anything of a more exotic nature Somerset is approximately 35 minutes away on 281 North and Uniontown is reached in half an hour or so by taking 281 South to 40 West .
Typical of many of the world’s rivers, the Youghiogheny is joined for much of its length by a set of train tracks. The train is a part of life on the river and should be thought of as such. It should not hinder your enjoyment of your surroundings. Our guests don't feel that the trains are detrimental to their overall experience. (A significant number of them join us because they are intrigued by the train!) We think that you will agree.   We are located on a very rural private road. The constant drone of traffic or the roar of semis blowing by which is endemic for most locations will not be a part of your day. Instead you will have the constant movement of the river in your back yard, the rooster voicing his wake-up call, the whistle and rumble of a passing train, and the wind finding its way through the trees. In the summer months humming birds add to the noise and the drone of cicadas is often a companion during the later summer months. Some of the amenities that you will find in the house are these: central heat and air conditioning, a fully equipped kitchen, and a dishwasher. All of your linens and towels are supplied. Free Wi-fi is included. Board games are stored in the entertainment center. You will also find a large fieldstone fireplace, and in addition, there is a fire pit located behind each house and another beside the river.  You will also have expansive decks and an outdoor grill (Don’t forget to bring your charcoal!) and plenty of room for parking and gear storage

Dan was an outstanding host and the home was beautiful with gorgeous scenery. Could not have asked for a more enjoyable stay.

Not only is this place full of character, there is a beautiful short trail through the land that leads directly down to the river. Had it not been November, I would have been as happy to camp right outside at Robin and Dan's campground. I loved the seclusion, the train periodically chugging by, the rushing river. Taking a short stroll in the misty morning was refreshing and Robin told us about all of the more intensive hikes we could hop on nearby. Dan was a terrific host, giving us the run down on accessible grocery spots in town, riddled with all the little quirks and peculiarities only folks living in a small town know about their spot! We were laughing with Dan within 5 minutes of arriving. We enjoyed using the kitchen to create a home-cooked meal our first night in and the breakfast that was prepared for us in the morning was mighty fine to boot! (Thanks for acommodating my wacky vegan diet, guys!) We drank our coffee out of mugs made right on site by our hosts, who are professional potters. Altogether, a really nice and entertaining stay!

This was such a lovely location in a very scenic setting! In addition, Robin puts some special touches into her place that make it a delight. She had some lovely chocolates and the room was so nicely decorated. The public space was beautiful, as was the outdoors surrounding it. I was in the area to visit Fallingwater, and it was a perfect drive to my destination the next day (less than 30 minutes). I would recommend this location to anyone. She was a wonderful hostess!

We stayed two nites - visited Kentuck Knob one day & Fallingwater the second day. Definitely off the beaten track which we loved. It's a gorgeous place - close to the river and the railroad ( loved hearing both ). Confluence "quiet" at nite at this time of year. We hope to return in the summer months. The only gas station in town is in repair - to open soon ( make sure your tank is full ). Dan was a gracious host - loved his breakfasts !

Robin and Dan are great hosts. They cook up a great breakfast and the house well appointed, rustic but elegant. It's secluded and quiet too except for the trains which werent too bad. You drive down a narrow road and then a driveway about one half mile long to a very nicely manicured and big lawn. All of this right next to the river. Only stayed one night but wish we could have stayed longer. We'll be back.

Innkeeper and Potter with a passion for kayaking, hiking and sushi. I love travel but prefer to do it "unscripted" and on the seat of a bike.
