Beautiful, spacious apartment overlooking mountains, forest, and river. Unwind in the hot tub after hiking; enjoy morning coffee on your private deck. Let nature lull you to sleep on the king size bed. Relax and rejuvenate in this lovely retreat, just minutes from most attractions:
2-4 mi: Blue Ridge Parkway, WNC Nature Center, Folk Art Center, Warren Wilson College, Highland Brewery
5-7 mi: Downtown Asheville, River Arts District
9 mi: Biltmore Estate, Black Mountain, Pisgah Brewery
The walk-out basement apartment is light and bright, with views from most windows overlooking mountains, forested property, and/or the Swannanoa River.
Street parking is always available; typically with space next to our driveway. Reach the apartment by walking down the driveway, then 15 or so steps down the side of the house. A few steps up puts you onto your private deck, with entrances to the apartment. The hot tub is just a few steps down on a separate deck.
The apartment's deck is several feet off the ground, which slopes down to the river. The property is heavily wooded and steep toward the river, with patches of poison ivy and the occasional bear(s). We ask our guests to enjoy the views from the deck, and not venture onto the back property. Given the terrain and possible wildlife, we respectfully request you to consider any child safety or mobility issues when considering this property.

We live upstairs and are available if needed, but will respect your privacy. All guests are welcome to drop and say "hi" or ask questions/get recommendations, etc. We do our best to minimize noise, but you might hear occasional footsteps and water running. Our dog Lola doesn't bark unless she sees a bear. Note that my husband teaches piano from our home Tuesdays-Thursdays, with lessons sporadically from 10-6. The piano is upstairs and at the opposite end of the home from the apartment, so you might hear faint piano sounds.

If you'd like to use the hot tub, we ask you to read and text to us signed acknowledgement of your understanding and agreement to follow the hot tub rules.
To guests booking Nov-March: Snowfalls can impact travel throughout Asheville, and it may take up to 3 days for our road to be plowed. Unless you have a 4-wheel-drive vehicle that can navigate a possible foot or more of snow, you could get stranded during heavy snowfalls. We will monitor forecasts and advise so you may take appropriate action.
We want you to have fun, so there just a few rules.
Please drive 25 mph or less through our neighborhood, and watch for pedestrians.
Quiet hours are 11 pm - 8 am. Please no smoking inside the apartment or on the decks.
Please enjoy the view from your deck, and do not venture onto our back property (it's steep and features poison ivy and the occasional bear).
Please also enjoy the hot tub, but we ask that you first read and text back to us a signed agreement to follow the hot tub instructions. You can do that anytime after you arrive.
Patrick and I have lived in this beautiful setting for 15 years, and are ready to share it with you! Patrick is a professional musician (piano) and I am a retired market research consultant and sometimes flute player. We love to take part in the many great things Asheville has to offer, including dining, breweries, music, and going to the dog park with our lovable mutt Lola. We look forward to welcoming you to Asheville!
