Der Wohnraum

Spacious and bright top floor of a chalet. Nice heated porcelain tile floors make this a cozy home away from home. There are 3 large bedrooms and 2 newly renovated bathrooms with both tub and showers. There is a double and single in one room, queen and single in the other room, and 2 singles and a single bunk in the middle room. There is a fully stocked kitchen. The chalet is located in White Gold Estates which is the closest subdivision to the village. We have free parking for 3 to 4 vehicles and free wireless. There are lots of restaurants within walking distance of world-famous Whistler Village. The Olympic Plaza hosts many free concerts over the summer so you can walk over and enjoy afternoon, or evening performances - bring your blanket to lie on the grassy area, or sit in the chairs and sip your coffee - lots of coffee shops in the village. Whistler and Blackcomb mountains are easily accessible for summer and winter. Most people walk over but you can also access the bus (we live next door and have never taken the bus but some tourists like to take it!), or take a cab over for around $6. if you are really lazy, or want to come home late at night in a hurry. The chalet backs on to Lost Lake Park so it is nice and quiet. You can enjoy the outdoor hot-tub which is always on, or the indoor big cedar sauna if you'd like more privacy. I hope you can come and enjoy Bear Trail Inn - over 10,000 return guests have called it home. Pets are conditionally accepted but must be approved and registered in advance.

Zugang für Gäste

Everything that Whistler offers is nearby - a short stroll to the village and to both Whistler and Blackcomb.

If you book a self-catering chalet you are expected to be self-catering. While we will answer any questions you may have before booking or on check in we are charging a discounted rate for self catering so we don't expect contact after check-in unless it is an emergency and we would like you to check out on or before 10 a.m. in accordance with our guidelines to make it easy for our cleaning schedule so we can be ready for the next guest. And, tax is applicable on stays less than 30 days. If you would like continual contact over your stay please choose a hotel.

Weitere wichtige Infos

Please clean up after yourselves! We have offered out our best rate to Air BnB guests but if people do not clean up after themselves I think we will have to add a bigger cleaning fee. Most people are great but the odd guest leaves a big mess - please be respectful and help us keep it affordable for everyone! We love our Air BnB guests.

I hope to see you again Sutton and thanks for taking the time to make your review - we do have a bit of space in our big suite in Feb and it's perfect for 2, 3, or max 4 guys so you might want to stay there next time (4 beds in big bedroom and nice sized living room - ground floor so it's easy access. And, if you are driving up from Vancouver we generally have a free parking spot available). Happy New Year! Pam and Rod

Pamela and her family were very accommodating - especially with our arrival. After we were able to check in an hour early, they welcomed us with fresh baked muffins - a lovely gesture. While the living space was cozy, the bedrooms were larger than the photographs suggested which was a nice surprise - especially with a group of 10!

Pam and Rod were great hosts, we had a group of 10 and pam arranged so we could all fit comfortably. we got checked in earlier than the check in time which was really great, i accidently made the mistake of texting the landline oops haha. we really enjoyed the jacuzzi after a long day of skiing. all the ammenities provided worked perfectly, besides the sauna room. the location was great, a 3 min car ride to the village. wish we could have stayed longer! all in all this place was great!!

Unfortunately I don't have a raving review for this property. We decided to stay at Pamela's property based on the location and the fact it was an "entire home" and had a hot tub. When we got to the location (which I had to contact airbnb to locate the owner to get in because she never responded to confirm a time to meet) we were very surprised by the appearance of the place. The "house" (top floor of a split-level apartment) had obviously been vacant for awhile. The towels were moldy, the decor of the house outdated-- there was no part of our stay which made us want to stay in and relax and cook. It was very small and definitely not cozy. The hot tub was shared by at least 3 other "houses" and had strict guidelines that we could not utilize it past 930p. The whole reason our friends (who traveled from CA and WY to be with us) came to Whistler was to be able to spend time together enjoying our temporary home--which unfortunately wasn't the case. I did contact Pamela the 2nd day we were there because our internet was not working and the fire alarm went off twice in the middle of the night and she did immediately give us another wifi which worked better and replaced our towels with clean ones. I definitely would not recommend staying at this property. It seemed more like a hostel environment and we paid about $360US /night. I'm sorry to say this wasn't a great experience... but the location itself was nice.

I believed Jamie was to check in between 2 and 4 as she requested an early check-in which we did make special effort to accommodate. At 4 I went to my office to find her phone # to find out where she was and then I was contacted by Air BnB which I felt was unusual as both my phone #'s were given out to Jamie (and they are posted on Air BnB info) and as she was late I would have appreciated a call to tell me she was running late. Also, check-in info is clearly listed on Air BnB - 4 to 10 p.m. Jamie told me that she was going to be on holidays and immediately she told me the Internet wasn't working fast enough for "work". Had she told me she wanted to work I would have told her that the Internet in Whistler is generally not super-fast and I wouldn't recommend it for work purposes. Few people are not satisfied with our service. Because of intermittant service we have a 2nd provider (most guest houses only have one). As she told me it was slow I contacted the provider immediately to advise them and they said it was working fine. I use the internet daily for emailing and seldom have problems. After I spoke with internet provider Jamie then concurred it was working fine. The Hot-tub/noise rules are throughout Whistler - no hot-tub use past 9:30 or guests could be subject to fines. Hot-tub rules are posted for guest information to ensure they don't get a by-law infraction. Jamie rented only the top floor of the house as that is what she wanted to rent and the hot-tub in that case was only rented with one other couple who told me that they didn't use the hot-tub while Jamie's group was in place. But, they were welcome to use it as was Jamie's group. Contrary to what Jamie implied our chalet is rented out regularly and cleaned regularly and all of our towels are fresh and clean as we usually do bookings back to back. We have a large number of clean, fresh towels so when she requested more towels they were given to her. Most guests love our authentic chalet experience and we have many return guests. We just put in a new stove and fridge in March and a new couch in the spring too. Not everyone loves the rustic style but that is the style - the photos reflect exactly as the chalet is. Our chalet is a free-standing chalet with 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms on top floor and 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms on main floor but when Jamie was in occupancy there was only one couple (2) return guests on the main floor so for the square footage it is very spacious and private as opposed to condo or townhome rental. There is also a large spacious yard which guests really enjoy in summer. As for remarks about the fire alarm no other guests have experienced any trouble with the fire alarm which is wired in in accordance with by-laws to protect guests. The whole chalet is non-smoking so I can't explain that anomaly unless one of her friends was smoking and she didn't know about it or perhaps they were burning candles. After she commented on it we asked the next 3 sets of guests and they experienced no problems at all with the smoke alarms. I would recommend that perhaps if Jamie rents again from Air BnB that she should ask more questions about the property she is to rent to ensure she gets what it is she is wanting. To any guests intending in renting note that our chalet is an older-style chalet with modern updates such as new bathrooms, heated porcelain floors, and a fully equipped kitchen, 4 new bathrooms and toilets. There are 3 old-style tv's and cable so if you want Apple TV our place isn't really for you! One guest recommended we buy an Apple TV and I said I was thinking of completely removing the TV. Most guests tell me they don't watch the TVs - I love Air BnB feedback and find it constantly interesting that one guest loves our place and then the odd guest seems to really not enjoy their experience with our chalet. Pamela was a wonderful host. We mentioned to her that we were going fishing, and a couple hours later found a great note disclosing a fine fishing spot that her friend knew about. The home is extremely close to Whistler Village via a nice walking path next to the river - a great location for a ski trip. I plan on coming back in the summer as well.

Sounds good Jeremy - Rod mentioned you might be returning with your wife. Our main floor suite with the fireplace has been nicely renovated and is perfect for a couple - hope to see you again! Snow in the Alpine today and it's chilly so maybe winter is upon us! Crazy weather but good that you made the best of it by going fishing. If you have more time in the summer we could take you north and I know a spot where the fish jump on to the hook (3 hours up a summer road) You must have 4 wheel drive vehicle. Best Regards, Pam Thompson

We Thompsons are a busy sporting family. Pam and Rod and were ski pros for over 34 years all the while raising 3 kids and keeping our property management company going (since 86). Rod is now enjoying retirement (from Whistler Secondary)! Our daughter Marielle Thompson won her 3rd individual Crystal Globe in Blue Mountain, Canada meaning she won the World Cup Overall Ski Cross Title in 2012, in 2014, and in 2017 - she is also reigning Canadian Champion and National team member winning 3 Team Crystal Globes. It was fun to see her win an Olympic Gold Medal in Sochi in 2014 too! Our son Broderick is on the National Alpine Ski Team and is presently home after training this summer in Chile. He is looking forward to ski racing on World Cup circuit again this winter. He posted good results in 2017 so he is actively pursuing off-season training so he can be the best he can be this season. He had his first World Cup top 30 result in 2015 and a couple more in 2016 and this year skied the world-famous Streif Hannenkahm Downhill! Our youngest, Tess is a great skier too and is an accomplished dancer and figure Skater who has completed her Triple Gold Skate Canada designation and is competing and training with Vancouver Skating Club and enjoying university at Capilano U. She manages our Squamish home in Garibaldi Highlands which is also ideally located for mountain biking and climbing while she trains and studies. So if you are a mountain enthusiast we have you covered for accommodation in the Sea to Sky area. We have a couple of dog-friendly places and Cookie our Blue Heeler/Shepherd Cross is now 17! So, she and I welcome return guests from around the globe and look forward to meeting new guests. We have enjoyed helping travelers arrange their west coast vacations for over 30 years. Time flies when you are having fun!
