Quiet and peaceful, our cottage in the country is decorated in Judy's relaxed vintage country style. It's the ideal retreat for artists, writers, small families or friend groups. Sleeps 4 comfortably, with an extra cot or an upper bunk suitable for children. Lots of shade trees! We are on a paved road with easy access.
Our guest cottage has heat and a/c for your comfort. And, we have just added a wifi hot spot for your convenience!

We have a large side yard with a second shaded picnic table. You are welcome to use it for yard games! There is a picnic table outside the cottage and a charcoal grill available.

Jim and Judy are artists who retired in the Ozarks after living in the West for years. Their artwork is displayed in the Summersville Senior Center. They enjoy playing and singing folk, old country and bluegrass, and love for other musicians to join in!

Peaceful, safe country environment. Perfect for a family or friend group - sleeps up to five. Enjoy beautiful sunsets and the pastural scene of the neighbor's cattle ranch! We are in the beautiful southern Missouri Ozarks, near springs, caves and river fun!

Summersville is 3 miles on paved road. The senior center on the square serves lunch M-F, 11:00-12:30, all ages welcome.

Other good restaurants are in nearby towns.

Eminence, 17 miles east on #106, is a floater's/fisherman's destination resort town where the crystal clear Current and Jacks Fork rivers meet! Good restaurants. A must-see is Alley Spring and Mill, 15 minutes east of us on #106. It is in Ozark National Scenic Riverways park.

Mountain View has a nice movie theater, a smaller Wal Mart, flea markets and restaurants.

Houston offers the same, with a Wal Mart super center.

Summersville has an 1888 flour mill museum, tours by appt; grocery store, post office, laundromat, Dollar General, 2 gas stations/convenience stores with fast food (pizza, chicken, etc.), Larry's Lube-mechanic, bank, ATM. VFW has a great bluegrass show every Saturday night at 7:00! **Sorry, Summersville has no restaurant as of Nov. 2016

You'll need your own vehicle in our rural area.

Lots of big, beautiful shade trees!

Judy And Jim

Jim and Judy Wenzel are owners of Horseshoe Bend Hide-a-Way, where they have operated their rental cottage and art studio since 2008. They have spent 8 years renovating their log-sided old farmhouse and their little vintage guest cottage. Now, they enjoy sharing it with you! They are also active acoustic musicians and re-enactors, volunteering at area museums and history events. Having lived in the West for over 25 years, they love anything "Old West"! They are members of the local Ozark Mountain Long Rifles reenacting group, portraying life in pioneer times. Jim loves cooking in his Dutch ovens at his fire pit! Judy prefers "pickin' & grinnin" with friends! Play an instrument? Bring it along!
