Te Poutapeta is a Historic Places Trust listed building. Up until the 1980s it served as the community Post Office. Our family run it as a B&B or Holiday House but do not live on site. Guests have their own bedroom and bathroom with shared kitchen and lounge. We provide continental breakfast. The Post Office is a one minute walk to our long and expansive beach. You’ll love our Poutapeta for its history, spaciousness and comfort. It is relaxing and unspoilt. Nau mai, haramai!

Der Wohnraum

Te Poutapeta has 3 bedrooms; the Postmaster's Office, the Mail Sorting Room and the Mail Clerk's Office. There are two bathrooms each with a shower and toilet. The lounge and dining room is huge with comfortable furnishings, a piano (belonging to the host's great-grandmother), tv, library and games. There is a fully outfitted kitchen and dining room located towards the back of the Post Office.

Zugang für Gäste

The entire Post Office is available for guest use.

Fun stay in the old post office in Tokomaru Bay. Had everything we needed and we ended up having the whole place to ourselves! Great nights sleep and lovely breakfast, thanks again.

If you fancy staying somewhere a bit different this is a great place to try. We really enjoyed our stay in the Post Office. Very spacious and well equipped and also very close to the beach. Beds were very comfy too. Would happily stay again.

Bill is born and raised on the East Coast and Jan is originally from Taranaki on the West Coast. We have raised and homeschooled 6 children here on the Coast, 3 of whom are still at home. We live on 4 acres of land and milk a cow, raise sheep, ducks, dogs and 200+ chickens. (so free range eggs are on the breakfast menu) We do not live on site but about 1 minutes drive away. We meet and greet our guests and settle them in to the Post Office. We are only a phone call away and are available to give local knowledge and involve guests in village life. Jan and Bill have travelled in their younger days and used to be the cook and butler for the Lord and Lady Rootes in Berkshire, England. We have also travelled with our family here in NZ, Australia and some of the Pacific Islands. Life on the Coast is unique, simple and relaxed and we would like to think that as a family we are that way inclined.
