Great place to explore the area. The house is close to the water, and close to the Gisborne wine center, which is a great place to sample the wines from the area. The house itself is large and comfortable, and nice fireplace to keep the house cozy and warm (along with plenty of space heaters to keep the rooms warm too). This is a great place to hang out, as it feels like a family home. The hosts were very easy to work with, good communication and very nice. We had a great stay.

You can't ask for a better location with a 10 min walk to the marina or main shopping street. The house is quite quirky and has lots a character. The house is clean and well equipped and there is ample room for a large family if needed. We had three different dogs visit us, all seemed to be from the local neighbourhood having a bit of a wander, so I'd be wary if I had small kids, but otherwise a fairly quiet and safe neighbourhood.

We loved our stay. Bill and Jan were super warm and welcoming. The place is full of character and well equipped. It is spacious - plenty of hot water and kitchen had all you need. Plenty of fridge space and good Laundry. Even over Christmas the neighbourhood was quiet. Will definitely stay again.

Bill is born and raised on the East Coast and Jan is originally from Taranaki on the West Coast. We have raised and homeschooled 6 children here on the Coast, 3 of whom are still at home. We live on 4 acres of land and milk a cow, raise sheep, ducks, dogs and 200+ chickens. (so free range eggs are on the breakfast menu) We do not live on site but about 1 minutes drive away. We meet and greet our guests and settle them in to the Post Office. We are only a phone call away and are available to give local knowledge and involve guests in village life. Jan and Bill have travelled in their younger days and used to be the cook and butler for the Lord and Lady Rootes in Berkshire, England. We have also travelled with our family here in NZ, Australia and some of the Pacific Islands. Life on the Coast is unique, simple and relaxed and we would like to think that as a family we are that way inclined.
