Our chalet is great for your skiing holiday. St Martin de Belleville is a real French village with fast access to the best skiing in the Alps. The chalet is spacious with well planned accommodation & a large sunny west facing terrace. The telecabine parking is one minute away in the car. Skiing home facing the setting sun in the afternoon down an easy blue, or one of the best reds in the 3 valleys is magic !
The chalet is not right in the village of St Martin de Belleville, it is about 200 yards before the first turn off the main road into the village. From there it is about a 5 minute walk to the village centre.
St Martin is part of the 3 valleys, in my view, the best skiing in the world. It is linked by an 8 person telecabine from the village, followed by a 6 person chair with canopy. This takes you to the ridge between the Belleville & Meribel valleys, and from there to the whole 3 valley area.
We usually drive up to the (free) car park at the telecabine at the top of the village, it takes 2 minutes. You can walk to the village centre where a drag takes you up to the telecabine, but it's a bit of a slog in ski boots.
There is a free navette twice in the mornings & again in the evenings from opposite the chalet up to the village & lifts. There is also a free navette during the day & early evening up from St Martin to Menuires & Val Thorens - (the tourist office will have a time table).
There is a pretty good "huit a huit" in the village and lots of other shops that will see you OK for the week, but we tend to do a big supermarket shop in Moutiers before we come up the mountain.
Lots of good restaurants in the village and around the mountain. We have complied a list of the ones we like with all the phone numbers. Many of them are accessible either on snow shoes / moon boots from the ski resorts, or one of the lifts. You can buy individual return trips up the lifts, so non skiers can get up the mountain (the views will knock them out), to meet you for lunches.
If non skiers drive, they can get around to both the Meribel & Courchevel valleys, some of our favourite restaurants would be easily accessible for them.
Locally the walking is pretty good, there is a ski de fond track from the village which you can walk around, and local villages to visit & explore. The walking is nicer in the summer, as some of the walks may be a bit tricky in the snow.
We love the place, it's the best village to ski the 3 valleys from. Skiing back home you're away from all the crowds trying to get back to the big resorts, you're facing the setting sun, and you've got one of the best reds in the 3 valleys (Pramint), or the new Jerusalem, now a lovely easy fast cruisy blue (it was a red, but the top steeper bit is now left unpisted, so you can do it the hard way if you're feeling fit)!
