The cabin is on the site of an old monks' retreat. The logs visible in the dining room and living room are believed to have been in the original structures on the property. Next to the large stone fireplace in the dining room is a corner filled with toys, games and books for children. The former summer kitchen which is located in a small cabin behind the main house is a recreated 1860's kitchen with period clothing for children to wear as they play. The game room with its pews that are believed to have been a small chapel has a small pool table, air hockey & boccerball. There is a net for volleyball or badminton on the grounds. A cistern with a manual pump times and an outhouse are down the hill; a stone well sits in the front yard.

The house is 1900 sq. ft. with a full kitchen, dining room, living room, one and half baths and large enclosed back porch. There are two large bedrooms which will easily accommodate two families or a group of up to 9 people. One bedroom has a queen size and a bunk bed with double size bed on the bottom and a twin-size bed on the top. The other bedroom has a queen size bed with two twin beds. There is a futon in the dining room that sleeps one person. On the back porch is another bunk bed with double size bed on the bottom and a twin-size bed on the top. The roofed hot tub sits approximately 30 feet from the back door next to the woods. Eat at the picnic under the pines trees next to the house. From side porch cookout on the grill and enjoy the view as you eat. Relax in the swing and watch the energetic play volleyball.

We do not live nearby, but you can text, email or phone us with questions. If you have a problem that requires attention, depending on the problem we will call our maintenance man or housekeeper to come as soon as they can.

Our house sits on the hill overlooking the valley with the only neighbors across the road. You are far enough away to never hear them and can see their house, but it is in the distance.

Reaching us is a lovely drive over winding hilly two-lane state highways. We are 3 miles from Rock House & State Route 374 which has access to all the state parks of the Hocking Hills. All the roads to and from our house are two lane paved roads in good condition. You need not travel any gravel, narrow roads unless you choose to do so. If you are visiting in January or February, we would suggest a four wheel drive vehicle in case of icy or snowy weather.

We do not charge for children under 2.
Pets are not allowed.
During January and February the hot tub will be shut down to prevent damage due to freezing if the electric should go off.
Do not use wood stacked near the outdoor fire circle in the indoor fireplace or wood burning stove.

I’m an amateur genealogist and love history so I was excited when we bought our cabin to find my husband’s grandmother went to school nearby and her girlhood friend was of the family for whom the road is named.

I’m a gardener; the grounds are filled with beauty, but challenging to manage. If you love birds as I do, you’ll enjoy the call of the whip-poor-will at night.

We have grandchildren so there are toys and many games. The small cabin out back is play area for children to experience history.
