The sunset from our back yard is golden in the summertime. Our neighbor's cat, Walter, can often be found hunting birds at dusk.

Interaktion mit Gästen

We both work at night in fantastic restaurants here in Portland. Mira works at pok pok and Jessica at Ringside Steakhouse. Our schedule means we go to work in the evening and arrive home very late. We of course make every effort to keep noise at a minimum when we get home from work (usually well after midnight) but please note that our home is almost 100 years old and does have squeaky floors! You might see us enjoying the backward for morning coffee or coming and going from yoga or errands during the day before we head off to work.

Weitere wichtige Infos

As mentioned, our pup will be roaming the whole home and is likely to be at your side if we are not home. She's a people dog. She is very friendly and chill. Any guests in our home must love dogs and be aware that she will be wandering around the entire home even though it is listed as a private bedroom. She is allowed in the back yard, but do make sure the gate is closed as you come and go, as to keep her from wandering into the road. Additionally we now also have a little boy cat, Persimmon. He will be roaming the home too

We expect our guests to respect our home that we love very much. Additionally, please be kind to our dog, Mia, who has free roam of house and back yard. She is a sweet old soul. However, she is not allowed outside of the fence, so guests would need to please pull the gate closed for her safety. Also, our kitten, Persimmon, will be around and needs access to the laundry room in our basement where his food and litter are located.

Please do not close the wooden door to our kitchen at the top of the stairs. If this door is closed, Mia might scratch at it to get to where people are or to get outside.

Use of the kitchen is not included in rental. There is a mini refrigerator, microwave and electric kettle with French press available in the basement.

Check in is at 3:00 pm, check out at 11:00am. We are happy to make extensions to these times if we do not have another guest arriving the same day.

Guests are welcome to use our washer and drier just past the curtains in the laundry room, and you may cross paths with us as we do so.

No pets (other than ours)

No smoking inside (outside is fine, please use provided ashtray)

Please help us conserve water and electricity. Turn off all lights before leaving and consider taking shorter showers or turning the water off and on as its used.

Return all keys and make sure doors and windows are locked when checking out of the property.

Recycle: we have a big black container for recyclables just past the curtains in the laundry room (mixed paper, plastic, aluminum), a plastic crate for glass bottles, and small cans for garbage. We expect our guests to not leave trash or any recyclables around the space. Please place them in their respective containers.

Food items: please help us keep ants and other pests at bay by not leaving out any food items (keep them in the refrigerator or place in outside compost bin in driveway).

No loud music or noise after midnight. No parties.

No overnight guests that are not included in the reservation.

Please do not engage in illegal behavior on our property. This includes illicit drugs and internet usage.

When coming and going, guests will use the wooden gate to access the back yard and backdoor. The gate sticks a little so make sure to push hard and make sure it closes behind you.

Please keep back door when entering and exiting to maintain air/heat indoor temperature.

Please make sure heater/air conditioner remote is returned to its home on the table at the foot of the stairs.

We have always stated in hotels before but this trip has changed that. Jessica's place was perfect --- very nice, clean home located close to all the best sites of Portland. Jessica was a great host and the visits from her lovely dog and cat made our stay that much more enjoyable. We would highly recommend Jessica's place for anyone going to Portland.

Our stay at Jessica's was absolutely amazing. The private basement was super clean and cozy, with lots of space to spread out and get comfortable. The private bathroom was great as well. We had a car while we were there and street parking was always available at all times of the day. We usually opted to take the bus at night as everywhere we wanted to go was only a short bus trip away. I would definitely stay here again and suggest it to others. Especially if you're an animal person. Mia and Leopold were the sweetest animals and we loved when they would come 'check in' with us.

In short, everything was perfect. I was only in Portland for two days for a conference, but it was my first time in the city and I can't think of a better introduction -- wish I could have stayed longer! The space is big, welcoming, comfortable, and so clean (a bedroom, living room, and bathroom all downstairs). Jessica left very detailed descriptions about using the space which was much appreciated, and pets Mia (a dog) and Leopold (a cat) were very friendly and we hung out a bit when I first arrived :). The neighborhood is beautiful and was a quick bus ride from the Rose Quarter, where my conference was, and a short walk or bike ride to all the cafes, restaurants, and shops on Albina and Mississippi. Five stars all around!

This place was absolutely lovely. The pictures were representative of the space. Being in the basement there was some stairs in the entry that you had to be careful going down. This did provide for plenty of room with enough privacy that it didn't feel like I was inconveniencing them and I still really enjoyed the surroundings. The backyard had string lights and a wooden patio table that made it nice to have a beer after a long day of exploring or a quiet place to have coffee. Persimmon and Mia made the time even nicer. It was nice to see a smiling fur baby when I was so far from my own. It is not in the center of downtown or anything. That being said it was very easy to get to close bus stops to get basically anywhere in the city. We had a great time!

Clean, cozy basement with a comfortable den area and thoughtful touches. The kitten was amazingly cute too!
