I DO NOT recommend this listing for a business trip or anyone else looking to find a formal experience in San Diego.
First, and most significantly, this apartment REEKED of weed, and it was less than amusing to stumble upon Philip's bag of it (he very quickly grabbed it a short while after letting us in) and finding bits of weed scattered on the kitchen counter. I understand that there may (who knows, may not) be a reason Philip had this, but you DO NOT put your apartment up on Airbnb with that condition. Or, maybe you do, and maybe fair warning might be given, but that wasn't to be found here; the house rules include "no smoking," so one might wonder if Iosef, the lister, has even stepped foot in this loft. That smell NEVER went away, even after a week of being there.
Second, Philip was clearly not ready for us. There was shaved hair everywhere in the bathroom, we had to buy toilet paper (less than a roll and a half is bold for two people over a week), Philip had left things in the washer, and there was a "lived in" feeling like I've never seen in an Airbnb listing (most of my stays have been with other people).
Third, the neighbors here are definitely suspect. During the 10 minutes of Philip being around after our arrival, we were introduced to the upstairs neighbor, who told us that he was the man to see if we needed drugs or women. SERIOUSLY?!? Also, somebody kept leaving the locked gate to the complex open, so...that felt safe.
Iosef might argue that some of these failings come from our booking the place the day prior to our arrival, but I counter that with him charging us near full listing price, losing most of the weekly discount; that move was fair until we found this place in the state it was in.
This listing was by far the worst Airbnb experience I've had, and I would not be surprised to see it banned from the service.
