We had an enjoyable stay with Trish and overall the place is fairly nice. It's very well lit during the day, the indoor lighting is adjustable and super adequate, and the art decor on the walls are a nice touch. In addition, when we moved in, there were already clothes hangars, soap, and toilet paper ready for us, which we appreciated. The following things were a bit of a surprise, though.
There's actually only 2 regular beds and one sofa bed, as opposed to the six beds that were originally listed. Trish provides an extra twin-sized bed if you ask for it, but given the sizes of the rooms, it makes the desk in one of the bedrooms essentially unusable.
The kitchen is fairly small and not suited for regular cooking. The vents don't actually vent the air outside, and there's only two stovetops. In addition, the fridges only work sporadically, alternating between freezing everything and leaving it at room temperature. Also, there's no garbage disposal in the sink, so you have to be super careful about not letting any food bits get washed down the drain.
The bathroom is functional, but the sink doesn't have a working drain cover. When the sink was clogged, we attempted to contact the host, who said she'd send someone to look at it but never did. We ended up fixing it ourselves. We would've contacted her about other issues, but given the difficulty in getting her to respond to our first two requests, we ended up just dealing with issues ourselves throughout the summer.
There's four wifi networks, but their strength varies a lot as you walk around the house. I usually have to switch wifi networks when I walk into a different room. The house also doesn't have A/C, which could become an issue as the huge west-facing window that lets in tons of sunlight also lets in lots of heat during the afternoons. Also, it's true that there's laundry onsite, but you have to pay for every wash.
Given all those surprises, though, the overall experience was positive. The beds are fairly comfortable, the neighborhood is pretty nice and really close to Castro Theater/Dolores Park, and the place is a great bargain for the price.
