Are we perfect - Hell no - but looking for AWESOMENESS with a story, One min. from Downtown Des Moines and near the East Village. Restored 1896 Mansion - all original - nestled in a huge historic park. Sits next to the river and on the bike trail. Come sit on one of the wrap around porches and enjoy some quiet time.
Furnished with antiques. The room is on the 2nd floor - and the suite has an adjoining sitting room - with the turret. It also has its own porch. This is 1 of 2 suites available.
Come enjoy the Two room guest suite with comfy Queen sized bed and key hole shape windows, antique dresser and armoire. There is also a separate sitting room with views of the river - looking out thru the turret windows. The sitting room also has its own little porch. There are 2 others who live in this mansion - who other than Seven you may never see. Shared vintage bath on the second floor. Ornate Victorian wash sink and 1/2 bath on the first floor too. Say hello to resident cat, Minx. Enjoy the charm of this original 1896 home with details and antiques throughout. At 120 years old, its not perfect (I want to see you at 120) - but the beauty shines through. You can tell that a lumber baron built this home for his wife and 4 daughters - one of which lived in the home until 1982 ! He used his best craftmen to built this grand home. We are still throwing much love at the wonderful old lady - getting better and better all the time..... with more stories to tell as time goes by.

Seven will try to meet you when you arrive and give you tour of the house and directions to any place in Des Moines. He will also let you know about what is going on around town and may even join you for a glass of wine. He is always just a phone call away for anything else you may need. We may have a few other guests in the home and occasionally we have some musical talent who likes to likes to practice in the home - so get ready for social hour at the Gabriel House. Also - feel free to bring your own wine and snacks to enjoy - as you take in your surroundings... Feel free to use any portion of the public space in or outside the home - as well as any of the musical instrumemts. There is a large shared bath available for your use, and great walking or biking trails across the street.

Ask about private concert options? From Opera, accordion, violin, guitar, etc. And if you tickle the Ivory, feel free to sit down at the old pump organ or the new addition to the family.....the beautiful baby grand piano.
The only house rules, is be respectful to those in the house and any neighbors nearby. Please no smoking in the home or on the property. The house has made it 120 years without burning down and I want to keep it that way. And please lock the main door when you leave.
