Our Casita (little house) was originally a hand-hewn log stable from the 1870s. Once a home for 2 teams of workhorses that ploughed the land and skidded logs for the original homesteaders, we've given it a new life as our "little house" for human guests!
The Casita is a charming piece of Ottawa Valley history, and our renos have been done with respect to the past, but also to providing a quaint and comfy place for you to enjoy.
Welcome, witame, bienvenidos!!
The Casita is a quaint and cozy self-contained cottage that comes with all the essentials.
The kitchen is complete with dishes, cookware, microwave, coffeemaker, kettle and full size gas stove and full size refrigerator/freezer. We provide the salt and pepper, you provide the rest! Please note that breakfast is NOT included as most guests prefer to set their own morning schedule. And if there is anything we may have forgotten to supply, just ask!
The bathroom is an oasis! Soak in the deep, full-size tub or have a quick shower. The rest of the main floor is a small living/dining area with a view out to the porch. There is a TV/DVD player with a selection of DVDs and a HDMI cable if you have downloaded your fave tv shows or movies; and even though we have wifi, out here in the hills its just not fast enough to download Netflix.
Upstairs in the loft area is your bedroom, with another small sitting/reading nook. Built-in closets provide storage, and a window-seat for daydreaming or stargazing.
Our favourite part of the space is a large covered porch with a southern exposure overlooking a perennial garden and the rock fences. Mix up your favourite drink, grab a chair and prepare to be relaxed!

This is a self-contained unit with a fully equipped kitchen, but if you would rather not cook....we are happy to recommend restaurants and eateries nearby! Please note that breakfast is NOT included as most guests prefer to set their own morning schedule!
We truly enjoy chatting and getting to know our guests, and would love to spend an evening sharing stories! However, if you would prefer quiet relaxation and just spending some time alone - we completely understand that as well!
You are welcome to enjoy the property and the gardens, and of course our hot tub is also available for a relaxing soak.

We ask that you leave the kitchen as you found it, and that any damage or loss is reported to us asap.
Please, no food upstairs!
And most importantly, enjoy yourself! Explore the valley and get to know the folks that call this area home, spend some time on our beautiful lakes and rivers, get to know Algonquin and Bonnechere Provincial Parks. Relax... you're in the valley now!
We have lived in Wilno since 2000 when we took on the monumental task of restoring this lovely old log home. Lou is semi-retired from the motorcycle industry and I still work full-time. Lou plays golf and would be happy to join you on the 18 hole course nearby, just ask!! I am a weaver in my spare time and you will probably find numerous projects in various stages of completion on the looms around the house. We both love the outdoors, gardening, kayaking and camping and have extensive knowledge of Algonquin Park. Looking forward to meeting you!
